For your August player of the month, you can pick now. There are some strong competitors for the award as we have picked up wins in each of the matches since we started our 2022/23 Premier League campaign. Firstly, we have Martin Odegaard who used his ision, creativity, and goalscoring to impress us throughout August. Also we have Gabriel Jesus who since completing his summer move from Manchester City has settled perfectly into life in North London. In addition, over the course of the month, he has provided three assists and has scored three goals himself.
Having found a home at the heart of defense, William Saliba is also up for the award. He has succeeded in keeping two clean sheets and scoring a sensational goal, plus the 21-year old defender has played every minute this season. Next up we have Gabriel Martinelli who have been in great form for us. In what has been an electric start for our number 11, he has created 12 chances and scored three goals.
ONUOHA HAILS IMPACT OF AKANJI AND GOMEZ
Nedum Onuoha credited the Champions League win at Sevilla on Tuesday to summer signings Manuel Akanji and Sergio Gomez. After joining the club from Borussia Dortmund last week, Akanji was handed his debut partnering Reuben Dias at the heart of our defense. Meanwhile, Gomez who signed for us from Anderlecht last month, was afforded his first city start. They both performed excellently and how they could be key components of our defensive option this term and beyond. On Tuesday’s edition of Matchday Live, Onuoha pointed out that Akanji was very dominant with the ball and gave the attackers a tough time. He ensured that he made an impact in the game.
Haaland was hailed by KDB for a perfect start in Seville. “He didn’t have the same impact as Vincent Kompany but he has a very similar trait.” “You can see he fits into the City side, has played in the Champions League, and comes from a top-quality side.” Sergio Gomez also made a fine performance in his first City start as throughout the game, he got better and better. Even in the second half, Jesus Navas wasn’t able to take him on as he remained consistent. He was also defending firmly when required and dropping back when he needed to. Furthermore, his good decision making made it hard for them to expose sides.
