Khris Middleton Biography

James Khristian Middleton (born August 12, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association’s Milwaukee Bucks (NBA). He is a three-time NBA All-Star who led the Bucks to an NBA championship in 2021.

Middleton went to the Porter-Gaud School in Charleston, South Carolina, for high school. From 2009 to 2012, he was a member of the Texas A&M Aggies. He was named second-team All-Big 12 after leading the Aggies in scoring with 14.3 points per game as a sophomore.

After his junior season, Middleton declared for the 2012 NBA Draft, and the Detroit Pistons selected him with the 39th overall pick.

High School Career

Middleton was born in Charleston, South Carolina on August 12, 1991, to James and Nichelle Middleton. His older sister, Brittney, is an NBA player, as is his cousin, Josh Powell. Another cousin, Kenny Manigault, played basketball for Wichita State University and was a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team Carolina Celtics with Middleton. Two other Carolina Celtics teammates, Jamal Curry (Radford) and Devin Booker have accepted Division I basketball scholarships (Clemson).

College Career

Scott Spinelli, then an assistant coach at Texas A&M, recruited Middleton. Middleton was expected to fill the three-point shooting void left by the departure of senior Josh Carter in his freshman season. Middleton’s college career began slowly, with him connecting on 1-of-12 field goals in his first three games. [8] Following Derrick Roland’s season-ending leg injury on December 11, 2009, Middleton was forced to take on a larger role in the offense, starting 18 of the final 20 games. On February 3, 2010, he scored 16 points to help Texas A&M overcome an 11-point deficit in the second half to defeat Missouri 77-74. [9] Middleton scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting in a 69-53 NCAA Tournament Round of 64 win over Utah State.

Professional Career

Detroit Pistons (2012–2013)

The Detroit Pistons selected Middleton with the 39th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Pistons on August 15, 2012.  On December 12, 2012, he was assigned to the NBA Development League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants (known now as the G League). He was recalled by the Pistons a week later. He finished his rookie season with the Pistons, playing 27 games and averaging 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 17.6 minutes per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks (2013–present)
