At the closure of the Salernitana – Crotone, Gianluca Procopio, the coach of the Primavera Granata, commented, “Today was a wonderful day, and it was the perfect way to close the season. The boys put on a fantastic show in front of our crowd and front of President Iervolino. We’ve done a fantastic job this year, and I’d like to thank everyone on my team, especially the boys, for the positive attitude with which they’ve worked every day.”

“In the nine years that Salernitana has competed in the Primavera championship, they have never scored so many points, and this result is a wonderful satisfaction for everyone,” the coach said. “I am delighted for the three boys who made their Series A debuts; the best triumph is the group and individual growth.”

Yesterday, the Primavera and Under 17 teams attended a training session on “game integrity and match-fixing” at the Caffè Motta headquarters.

It is our responsibility to combat this type of risk with all of our resources, and the Sportradar project is an important step in our young players’ development. We must safeguard the sport we enjoy.”

“Important Mental Demonstration,” by Procopio

THE YOUTH SECTOR by US SALERNITANA 1919 on April 16, 2022

I’m proud of the boys who have demonstrated mental maturity today because we had everything to lose. The team took the game extremely seriously; I warned the boys that this game had numerous traps, and they tackled it with the appropriate attitude.”

“We are now enjoying the Easter holidays,” the coach said, “but we will be back on the pitch on Tuesday to better prepare for the final championship game.” We’ll play home games, and we want to do well and finish as strongly as possible. We want to keep scoring points because there have not been so many in recent years. Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to all of the personnel, from the trainers to my tactician, for their outstanding efforts in physically and tactically preparing for the match.”

“Right Approach, Improve Attention,” by  Procopio.

THE YOUTH SECTOR by US SALERNITANA 1919 on April 9, 2022

“The club got off to a good start in the first half with the appropriate attitude. I told the boys to be aggressive right away since we knew they were a good team on paper and we might have struggled with their dribbling. I was expecting a different performance in the second half; we weren’t able to be as aggressive as had been at the start of the race.

The club is sorry for conceding two goals as a result of our inattention, we must improve our attention throughout the game.” At the end of the Salernitana – Frosinone match, Primavera granata coach Gianluca Procopio said these words.

“The club is delighted for the arrival of Kostiantyn Smalko, it has been an amazing joy both for us and for the boy,” the coach added. I observed immense joy in his eyes; he is a young man with good technique who works hard every day.

We’re glad he can collaborate with us; he has a lot of space for progress.

PROCOPIO: “ONE OF THE BEST CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMANCES”

By US SALERNITANA 1919 on April 2, 2022, in THE YOUTH SECTOR

“I watched a great Salernitana against a team of tremendous skill and depth today, and it was one of the best performances of the entire championship.”

Primavera Granata coach Gianluca Procopio said after the Spezia – Salernitana, “I believe the draw is also tight because the squad performed a great tactical game and showed mental improvement.” “We must continue to work on this spirit set in place today to grow and progress,” the coach continued. There are only a few games left in the tournament, and I told the boys that we have to attempt to finish the season as strongly as possible, not only in terms of results but also in terms of professional growth, which is our primary goal.”

U.S Salernitana F.C 1919

Salernitana, also known as Unione Sportiva Salernitana 1919, is an Italian football club based in Salerno, Campania. After finishing second in Serie B, Salernitana returned to Serie A in 2021, after a 23-year absence. The club is the descendant of the previous Salernitana Calcio 1919, and there was also a sporting continuity with the former Salerno Calcio in the 2011–2012 season when the team was relegated to Serie D according to FIGC Article 52 NOIF.

History

From Unione Sportiva Salernitana to Salernitana Calcio 1919.

The Unione Sportiva Salernitana, which is situated in Salerno, was founded in 1919.  Following a merger with Audax Salerno in the 1920s, the club was renamed Società Sportiva Salernitanaudax. The club was renamed Salernitana Sport in 1978. The club has spent most of its existence in Italian football’s Serie B and Serie C divisions.

Salernitana’s home games are held at Stadio Arechi. Salernitana participated in the provincial Italian Football Championship in their early years. During the 1920s, they spent four seasons at this level. Since then, the club has made two appearances in Serie A, in 1947–1948 and 1998–1999, respectively.

When the club went bankrupt in 2005, Antonio Lombardi resurrected it, thereby altering the name from Salernitana Sport to Salernitana Calcio 1919.

In 2011, the club was kicked out of Italian football after failing to appeal a judgment by the Commissione di Vigilanza sulle Società di Calcio Professionistiche (Co.Vi.So.C).

Rebirth of the Club: Promotion from Serie D to the top level

Following the elimination of the previous Salernitana club on July 21, 2011, Salerno mayor Vincenzo De Luca, by Article 52 of the N.O.I.F., handed the new title to Marco Mezzaroma, Claudio Lotito’s brother-in-law. Under the name Salerno Calcio, the new club was accepted into Serie D.

Salernitana was promoted to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione after winning Group G of Serie D in the 2011–2012 season.

The club was renamed US Salernitana 1919 on July 12, 2012. Salernitana won Girone B in the 2012–2013 Lega Pro Seconda Divisione season and was promoted to Lega Pro Prima Divisione. This was the team’s second successive promotion and in the 2014–2015 season, Salernitana won Lega Pro Group C and returned to Serie B.

Salernitana was promoted to Serie A at the end of the 2020–2021 Serie B season, finishing second behind champions Empoli. With a 3–0 win over Pescara on the final day, the team was promoted. Due to Italian football statutes prohibiting two clubs from the same owner from competing in the same league, Salernitana’s readmission to Serie A necessitated Lotito and Mezzaroma to sell the club. For the first time in 23 years, the FIGC Federal Council allowed Salernitana’s trust to take possession of the club on July 7, 2021.

Salernitana FC Return to Serie A: 2021–present

On August 22, 2021, Salernitana’s comeback to the top flight began with a 3–2 defeat against Bologna in their first match. After a shaky start to the season, with only one point from the first six games, the club won its first Serie An encounter against Genoa on matchday seven, winning 1–0 thanks to a Milan uri goal. After a 2–1 loss to Spezia in October, the Salernitana board fired Castori, leaving the club at the foot of the table with four points from their first eight league games.  Stefano Colantuono, who previously led Salernitana from December 2017 to December 2018, has been appointed as his replacement.

Colors, Badges, and Nicknames

Salernitana used to wear biancocelesti, which are light blue and white striped shirts. Because Salerno is located close to the Gulf of Salerno and has a long history as a port city, the blue on the shirt was chosen to represent the sea. The team switched to garnet-colored shirts in the 1940s, earning them the nickname Granata in their hometown.

Their kit colors for the 2011–2012 season were striped blue and deep red, similar to F.C. Barcelona’s. The new package included an emblem of St. Matthew, the patron saint of Salerno.

However, after the club was renamed US Salernitana in 1919, its home colors have returned to the historic garnet.

On June 24, 2019, they unveiled their 100th-anniversary logo, which was featured on their 2019–2020 season uniforms.

Arechi Stadio

The Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy, is a multi-purpose stadium. It is the home stadium of U.S. Salernitana 1919 and is primarily used for football matches. The stadium can contain 37,800 people. The stadium was created to replace an older building that could no longer accommodate the team’s rising fan base. The national football team of Italy has played three times at the stadium.
