Welcome!
At AACC, we value inclusion, community and relationships. In keeping with those values, we welcome students from all countries and welcome the diversity, ideas and beliefs they add to our community.

Currently, the International Student Services (ISS) admissions officer and designated school officer (DSO) process immigration requests, updates and other student services internally. Time-sensitive incoming requests will be submitted and processed within our five-day business window. Non-urgent services may take longer due to the high number of requests received. We thank you for your patience.
On July 24, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a press release revoking its July 6 change. ICE will continue March guidance that allows current F-1 non-immigrant students to take a full online course load in the fall and still stay in the U.S.

In SEVP Press Release 2104-05: ICE Continues March 2020 Guidance for the 2021-22 academic year, SEVP said:

“The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) will extend the guidelines issued in March 2020 for the 2021-22 academic year. This guidance helps schools and students engage in distance learning beyond the legal limit due to the ongoing public health concerns created by COVID-19. The March 2020 guidelines apply to non-immigrant students who are enrolled in a US institution on March 9, 2020 and are following the process of alien status, whether from within the United States or abroad. A summary of the March 2020 guidelines is below. Significantly, there are no changes to the original guidelines, which will remain in effect during the 2021-22 academic year. “

Frederick Community College, Frederick, 1957

International students (F1 visa)
The FCC has the authority under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. International students studying at FCC must have a full academic record toward an Associate’s Degree outside of the fields of Allied Health, Nursing, Biotechnology, Emergency Management or English as a Second Language.

International students

International F1 students are expected to complete five steps before being accepted and receiving their I-20 from the FCC; Six steps to get their VISA from the US Embassy or Consulate; and six more steps at the FCC after receiving their F1 Visa and arriving in the US, to complete the registration process.

Student process to obtain an I-20 from the FCC:

Step 1: The student submits a completed I-20 petition to the sponsor’s local (Maryland) address and the student’s home address.

Step 2: The student submits a secondary school transcript review in English to an approved review service. The World Education Service (www.wes.org) or any member of the National Collegiate Evaluation Services (www.naces.org) is accepted. Students should request a book-by-book review and send it to the FCC’s compliance department.

Step 3: The local sponsor submits the I-134 supporting document – financial statement including income and source of support for the prospective student, i.e.: bank statement or bank letter, by mail or email the FCC Compliance Department. The College is unable to provide academic assistance to international applicants. The minimum amount of tuition, fees, books, health and living expenses per year is $26,000. Students attending college on an F Visa will be classified as out-of-state for educational purposes while at FCC. Instructions for the I-134 Affidavit of Support are available for students from the United States Department of Defense.

Step Four: The student takes the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The minimum acceptable score is 61 on the internet-based test, 173 on the computer-based test or 500 on the paper-based test. A student will need to enter the FCC school code (5230) on the TOEFL request form to have the report sent directly to the FCC admissions department. A student should give time, because it can take up to a month for TOEFL scores to be sent to the college. For more information on how to take the TOEFL, a student can visit www.toefl.org.

Step 5: The student submits the current license by mail or email to the FCC compliance department.

NOTE: The student must submit all materials and documents required to support their I-20 petition to the FCC by June 1 for the following fall semester and October 1 for the following spring semester. The I-20 is issued at the time the student is accepted and admitted to the college, which happens when the documents listed above are received and reviewed for the minimum requirements. Surveys are conducted in June and October.
