Club Career

Rashford began playing football at the age of five for Fletcher Moss Rangers, beginning as a goalkeeper, and cites former United goalkeeper Tim Howard as his goalkeeping idol. Fletcher Ross Rangers academy development officer Dave Horrocks recalls Rashford being on a “different level” than the other boys, playing a key role in the team’s victory in a tournament attended by 15 scouts from various clubs.

He spent a week training with Manchester City before joining the Manchester United academy system at the age of seven, despite interest from Everton and Liverpool. He credited his brothers with convincing him to join United. Former Manchester United youth coach Paul McGuinness quickly recognized Rashford’s potential because of his athleticism both on and off the field.

Season 2022-23

After a successful pre-season under new manager Erik ten Hag, Rashford started the season as both a center-forward and a left-winger, and he opened his season account by scoring in a 2-1 win against Liverpool, and then twice in a 3-1 win against Arsenal; with an additional two assists, Rashford matched his total goal involvements from the previous season. Rashford scored his 100th goal for Manchester United in a 1-0 win over West Ham United on October 30.
