Real Betis: William Carvalho signs a new real Betis until 2026

He was a Real Betis player from 1973 to 1977.

Fernando Lobato Romero, who played for our Club from 1973 to 1977. The player’s death was on September 2, 2022, in Jerez, Spain. Real Betis Balompié regrets his passing deeply. He was 67 years old.

He was born in Jerez on November 10, 1954. and had his training at Jerez Industrial before joining Real Betis in the 1973–74 season. However, during that first season, he made his appearance in a few games in the Andalusian Reserve Cup.

On March 30, 1975, at the Romareda stadium, during a match between Real Zaragoza and Real Betis. a strong and energizing winger with quickness and good technique made his official competitive debut.

He played in 26 games between the League and the Cup during the 1975–76 season. which helped him establish himself in the Verdiblanco squad. Also, turning him into a player in whom coach Ferenc Szusza had complete faith.

He took part in up to eight games of the 1976–77 Copa del Rey. specifically In Real Betis’ qualifiers against Baracaldo, Sestao, Deportivo de La Corua, Valladolid, and Hércules. as well as the first leg of the semifinal against Espanyol. The following year, in the 1976–77 fiscal year, he was a member of the outstanding generation that won the tournament.

After that season, he was sent to Cádiz. where he played for two seasons in Cadiz. His career came to an end at Racing Portuense and Mérida after he played two more First Division seasons at AD Almera.
