High school Career
Cooper helped McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, to a 29-1 record and a trip in the Georgia High School Association’s (GHSA) Class 7A state quarterfinals during his rookie season in 2016–17, averaging 16 points and 4.4 assists per game. The next year, he posted a 26-3 record while leading the Indians to a state quarterfinal trip. He attracted a lot of media attention in December 2017 when he defeated Jahvon Quinerly and the top-ranked Hudson Catholic Regional High School with 42 points in the City of Palms Classic quarterfinals. In an 83-81 triumph after overtime, he made the game-winning buzzer-beater.
Cooper averaged 27.2 points, 8.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game as a junior in 2018–19, helping McEachern to a perfect 32-0 record and the first state title in school history. He contributed 20 points and four assists in the championship victory over Meadowcreek, which helped McEachern finish first in three national polls. He won MVP awards at a number of competitions, including the City of Palms Classic and Tournament of Champions. Following the season, he received several awards, including Mr. Georgia Basketball, MaxPreps National Player of the Year, and Georgia’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Additionally, he received second team Naismith All-American and first team USA Today All-USA recognition.

Atlanta Hawks (2021–2022)
Cooper was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks with the 48th pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft. He agreed to a two-way contract on August 5, 2021, with the Hawks, splitting time with their College Park Skyhawks G League club. In the 2021 NBA Summer League, he participated for the Hawks, making his debut in an 85-83 loss to the Boston Celtics, scoring 11 points on 5-11 shooting and dishing out 6 assists in 28 minutes. In the Hawks’ 113-87 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in their season opener, Cooper made his NBA debut, shooting 0 for 3 from the field.
Cooper joined the Hawks’ roster for the 2022 NBA Summer League. Cooper renewed his two-way contract with the Hawks on July 22, 2022. After three days, he was released.
Cleveland Charge (2022–present)
