Sivasspor

Due to sponsorship issues, Sivasspor Kulübü, a Turkish sports team with Sivas as its home now goes by the name Demir Grup Sivasspor The club’s main division is football for men. As of the 2017 18 season, its S per Lig football division competes. It was founded in 1967. In the end, they came in fourth and second place, respectively, despite competing for the Super Lig championship for two straight seasons (2007-08 and 2008-09). They were also awarded the fourth slot at the conclusion of the 2019 20 season. They’ve led the league’s first half of the season in each of these seasons. Along with Kocaelispor and Altay, they were one of the three non-champion clubs that won the first half. At the conclusion of the 2013 14 campaign, they were likewise fifth. History

Sivas Gençlik., the precursor to Sivasspor, was established in Sivas on May 14th, 1932. They dress in Beyaz (White) shorts and Krmz-Beyaz (Red-White) shirts. Sivas Gençlik. amalgamated with Yolspor and Kzlrmak by the middle of the 1960s. The deadliest sporting-related incident in Turkey happened on September 17, 1967, during a match between Kayseri Erciyesspor (then Kayserispor) and Kayseri Atat rk Stadium. At least 300 fans suffered injuries, and 40 people died. Sivasspor supporters made up the majority of those killed when there was a rush among their ranks as a result of Kayserispor supporters attacking them. The Kayseri team won the game 1-0 in the last seconds. After the catastrophe, Kayseri Erciyesspor and Sivasspor competed in various 2nd league groups up until the 1990 1991 campaign. Both teams participated in the Fourth Group of the Third League that year after making amends (now TFF Second League). Champion Kayseri Erciyesspor got relegation to the Second League.

Establishment of new league

The Turkish Football Federation decided to establish a third league as a result of the large number of new clubs. Along with Afyonspor, Balkesirspor, Giresunspor, Kastamonuspor, Malatyaspor, Orduspor, Uşakspor, and Taksim GK, they got promotion entry into the Second League. Sivasspor finished 16th in their group during their first professional season, just four points above the drop zone. The following season, they similarly placed in the bottom part of the standings. In the 1971/1972 and 1972 1973 seasons, they came very close to being promoted to the First League but finished behind Ekerspor and Adana Demirspor. Sivasspor would not move up until 2005, when they won the Second League and received automatic promotion.

In their inaugural Turkcell Super League season, the club placed eighth. The team won crucial matches against teams like Beşiktaş and Gençlerbirliği. under Werner Lorant’s leadership. They had a record of ten wins, thirteen draws, and eleven losses for a total of 43 points at the completion of their maiden season in the top division. The team finished the 2007/08 season in fourth place, with the same number of points as the second- and third-place clubs, but with a worse goal differential. Up until the penultimate game, when they lost 5-3 by the eventual champions Galatasaray, Sivasspor had the championship in their sights. After dominating the standings for the majority of the 2008 09 season, they came in second place.

Sivasspor qualified for the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League for the first time in their history after placing fourth in the 2019–20 Süper Lig season. On May 26, 2022, Sivasspor defeated Kayserispor 3-2 in extra time to claim their first significant victory, the 2021–22 Turkish Cup.
