An Overview Of JS Saoura

People often refer to Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura  as JS Saoura or simply JSS. It is written as الشبيب الرياضية للساورة  in Arabic. It is an Algerian Football club founded in 2008 in the town of Méridja in the Béchar Province.

The Saoura valley of southwestern Algeria is where their name is derived from. Its colors are green and yellow. The 20,000-capacity stadium, 20 August Stadium in Béchar is their home ground. Background

Following the merger of the JSB (Jeunesse Sportive Bécharienne) and the ESD (Étoile du Sud de Debdaba), the club was created on June 10, 1968. In September 2008, the club was re-established in the municipality of Méridja. It was known as Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura. JS Saoura came with 4 sports Football – Tennis – Volley ball and judo.

JS Saoura secured promotion to the inter-regions after finishing first in the Bechar Regional League during the 2008-09 season. They went on to win the West group of the inter-region division the following season. JSS finished first in the Center-West Group of the Ligue Nationals du Football Amateur during the 2010-11 campaign. This secured their promotion to the Ligue 2. They ended the season in second place in Ligue 2 after beating SA Mohammadia 3-1 on April 17, 2012. Therefore, for the first time in their history, they moved to the elite of Algerian football, Ligue 1.

Consecutively, JSS secured promotion four times to reach the Algerian Ligue Professionelle 1 in the 2012-13 season. They were the first club from the southwest to achieve this feat. Enterprise Nationale de Forage (ENAFOR) a firm of the petroleum company Sonatrach financial backed the club. They have 75% of the shares and Amateur Sports Club has the rest.

Gaining experience and surviving the Ligue 1 were their main objectives in their first season. 45 people, including 32 policemen, were injured in accidents among fans in the ninth round of a match against USM El Harrach in Béchar. The stadium was stormed by USM El Harrach fans in the 65th minute and this incident happened in the stands. The referee was forced to stop the match for security reasons.

The club signed French coach Alain Michael to become the first foreign coach to lead the club on December 20, 2013. The star of the team Kaddour Beldjilali moved to Étoile du Sahel for 360,000 euros at season end. This was after clubs fell on each other to sign the striker.

In the 2105-16 season, JSS started to impose itself to achieve the runner-up of the Ligue Professionnelle 1, either in the Algerian Cup. They managed to break the knot after three eliminations from the Round of 64. However, they lost to NA Hussein Dey and were eliminated from the Round of 32.

From 2015 to September 15, 2018, against CA Bordj Bou Arreridj they recorded a 58-match unbeaten run in their stadium. JS Saoura finished runners–up in the Ligue Professionelle 1 for the second time merely two seasons after that. They were three points ahead of the champion CS Constantine.  

The Club’s journey through the CAF competitions

JS Saoura is a regular participant in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions. A team’s performance in its domestic league and cup competitions is what secures qualification for Algerian clubs. JS Saoura is the first club from the south of Algeria to participate in a continental competition. They recorded this feat in 2017 in the CAF Champions League as the runner-up of the Ligue Professionnelle 1. However, they were eliminated in the preliminary round against Enugu Rangers. Abderrahmane Bourdim scored the first continental goal. Two years later, JS Saoura returned to participate in the same competition, where they qualified for the group stage. Al-Ahly, AS Vita Club, and Simba of Tanzania shared the same group with them. They ended the group stages in third place with 8 points. They drew the first match 1-1 which was against Enugu Rangers.

Club career

Djallit moved to WA Tlemcen after a spell at IR Mecheria.

He joined MC Alger on a free transfer from JSM Béjaïa on January 4, 2012. He netted his debut goal against ASO Chief on March 6.  However, MC Alger lost the game 4–2. He scored two goals the following match to secure a 2-0 win for MC Alger.  He finished with 9 goals in 14 games in his first season at MC Alger.

Djallit scored a hat-trick against WA Tlemcen in the first match of the 2012-13 season. The match ended in a 3-0 win for MC Alger. In the next match, he scored an injury-time winner against JS Saoura.  

International career

 Djallit made his debut for the Algeria A’ National Team in a 4-0 friendly victory against Lie genistein on March 3, 2010.

Algerian footballer Sid Ali «Alilou» Yahia-Chérif was born in January 4, 1985, in Hydra. Currently, He plays for RC Kouba.

His Club Career

He started off playing on the streets and in local tournaments while growing up in Algiers. Then, he played a brief spell at ES Kouba and ES Ben Aknoun. He signed with the RC Kouba Junior team at age 18 in 2003. Most importantly, he impressed quickly at the club and was promoted to the senior team merely two years later. Yahia-Chérif helped the club secure promotion to the top flight in the 2007-08 season. Unfortunately, they were relegated the following season. Alain Michel

The present manager of the club is Alain Michel. He was born on 30 August 1948. He is a French football coach, amateur goalkeeper, and assistant professor.  

His Life Account

Michel was an amateur association football goalkeeper for Beaugency, Blois, and Orleans. He is an associate professor of history and geography. He met Christian Lariépe when he worked as a coach at Beaugency, Bourges and Louhans-Cuiseaux.  

The Grenoble Foot 38(GF 38) appointed him as coach at its inception in 1997. The GF38 entered professional football in five years under the leadership of Michel Destot and his team.  They advanced to the second division in four years and won the National champion France in 2000-01.  

AS Saint-Étienne was seeking a replacement for Jean-Guy Wallemme and contacted Michel in the summer of 2001. Following the dismissal of Marc Westerloppe, he returned to Grenoble within a few months. He remained there until 2004, providing yearly maintenance of the club in Division 2. FC Rouen hired him as athletic director in 2004. Eventually, he became coach following the sacking of Eric Dewilder at the end of the season.

Michel left Normandy in 2006 and went on Championship UAE, first working at Al-Ahli Dubai, and then Baniyas Club. However, he was dismissed in March 2008. He was appointed coach of Mouloudia Club of Algiers, and dean of Algerian football clubs on 21 September 2008. He allowed his team to lead the Algeria national football championship in 2009-10. However, he left the club in late 2009 and signed to the Qatari side Al Shamal. He returned as coach for MC Alger for the 2010-2011 season, replacing François Bracci. This was after he was coach of the Algerian national team. The club sacked him after his defeat in the championship against USM Blida in March 2011.

Nabil Neghiz

Presently, the head coach of Mouloudia Club d’Oujda is Nabil Neghiz (Arabic: نبيل نغ ي). The Algerian football manager was born on 25 September 1967.

His Career

He promoted Mouloudia de Kaous to the Interregional in 2006–2007 when he first managed them. In 2008-09, Nabil Neghiz then managed l’Entente de Collo and promoting them to the 3rd division. He later assisted b Brazilian Joao Alves at CS Constantine as assistant manager. He later returned to CRB Ain Fakroun where they promoted the club twice to achieve the 3rd division under his management.

The following season, Neghiz chose not to manage the team. He managed Ligue2 side WA Tlemcen at the beginning of the 2013-14 season. He finished the season at L’Olympique de Medea after reaching an agreement to leave the club.

Ali Meziane Ighil is an Algerian former footballer. He was born on January 12, 1952.

His Club career

Ighil spent his entire career at NA Hussein Dey. He won the 1979 Algerian Cup at the club. He also reached the finals of the 1978 African Cup Winner’s Cup with the club.

His International career

Ighil started in a friendly against Brazil at the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in his debut for the Algerian National Team on June 3, 1973. Although they lost 2-0 to Brazil, he played the entire match.

They called him p for the 1982 African Cup of Nations in Libya 1982. He only played a third-place match against Zambia which Algeria lost.

His Time As A Manager

Ighil signed a one-year deal to become coach of ASO Chief on July 3, 2010.  He leads them to the league title for the first time in the club’s history in his first season.
