Chinese competitive football club Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club is situated in Chengdu, Sichuan.

The club is presently licensed by the Chinese Football Association to compete in the Chinese Super League tier (CFA)

Chengdu Rongcheng F.C. Background

The team was elevated to the second-tier China League One in 2 years after placing second in the 2018 Chinese Champions League and 2019 China League Two consecutively. The club was established on March 7, 2018, by Chengdu Better City Investment Group Co., Ltd.[1] on the ashes of the disbanded Chengdu Qbao.

They modified their title to Chengdu Rongcheng F.C. prior to the 2021 campaign.

Jung-won Seo (2021-present)

Onetime football player and present coach Seo Jung-won was born in South Korea on December 17, 1970. He was also known as the “Nalssaendori,” which is South Korean for an agile man, and was a winger with lightning-quick pace.

Playing Career

At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Seo competed for South Korea’s under-23 team. During the game against Sweden, he scored a goal that struck the opposition’s goalpost.

Following his accomplishments in the Olympics, he allegedly received contracts from FC Barcelona and other major European clubs, however he chose to remain in South Korea to complete a two-year obligatory military duty.

At the 1994 FIFA World Cup, he also represented South Korea and netted the equalizer against Spain.

When Li Shuai came into the team in 2016, he was relegated to the backup position.

Geng signed a five-year deal in February 2017 to join fellow Super League team Hebei China Fortune, however owing to a shortage of transfer quotas, he was forced to play the 2017 season with the Hebei club’s backup team. A right-footed left-back in the Chinese Super League for Chengdu Rongcheng, Tang Xin (Chinese: ; pinyin: Táng Xn; born 16 October 1990) is a Chinese football player.

Club Work Experience

At the age of 12, Tang Xin and his twin brother Tang Miao enrolled in Beijing Guoan’s academy system in 2002.

For the 2006 season, he was listed with Liaoning Zhongba of China League 2. He was loaned to Beijing Guoan Talent, a satellite team of Beijing Guoan that would compete in Singapore’s S. League as an international team in the 2010 campaign. For the majority of the season, Tang sat on the sidelines. Early years

Li Jianbin began his football profession in 2001 while playing for the academy system of Qingdao Beilaite. In 2006, Shanghai Stars became interested in Li Jianbin after noticing his outstanding athletic ability. He was unable to make the first squad and made the decision to transfer to Qingdao Hailifeng, a team in the same division, where he once more invested the majority of his time competing for their young academy.

Blades of Chengdu

Li signed on with Chengdu Blades of the 2nd tier in May 2007. International Work Experience

F.C. Guangzhou

A competitive Chinese football team, Guangzhou Football Club, previously Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club, competes in the Chinese Super League with permission from the Chinese Football Association. The squad is headquartered in Guangzhou, Guangdong, and the Tianhe Stadium, which has a 54,856 occupancy, serves as their home field. The Evergrande Real Estate Group (56.71%) and the e-commerce firm Alibaba Group (37.81%) are their largest shareholders, while its remaining shares are listed in the Chinese OTC market.

The club was established in 1954, and before going professional in 1993, it won a number of second-tier championships. Their performance rose, earning them a place as runners-up in China’s top division. They received advancement right after, and in the 2011 season, they earned their first top-tier championship. The team won the AFC Champions League twice, in 2013 and 2015, making it the only Chinese football team to do so. Following defeating Hunan Billows 3-1 on October 30, 2010, Guangzhou won League One for a 2nd occasion and moved back to the Super League.

With the acquisition of Brazilian Cléo and Argentine Dario Conca during the 2011–12 campaign, Guangzhou Evergrande greatly bolstered their team.

Everton

At the age of 10, Browning did join Everton in 2004. Prior to actually entering Everton, he spent his first 8 months working for the native team. Browning started playing for Everton’s backup team after moving up through the youth ranks, where he eventually established himself as a regular. In the 2010–11 season, he then assisted Everton Reserves in capturing the U18 Premier League championship.

Browning grew at the club’s backup, where he spent his entire time playing right-back for the team. As he advances, Browning will also wear the captain’s armband for the team’s backups. At the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony for the 2013–14 season, Browning was named the Under-21s Player of the Season.

He received his first call-up to the first team on December 30, 2012, when Everton fell to Chelsea 2-1 and he was an inactive replacement.

Browning and the team agreed to his first professional deal on July 26, 2013, which would last through 2015.

In Nov 2016, as Everton U23 fell to Norwich City 4-1 in the Premier League Cup, Browning played 45 mins following a protracted absence from the field. After the game ended in a 1-1 tie, he next appeared in the EFL Trophy match against Blackpool, losing 5-4 in the penalty kick. In a subsequent encounter, Browning made his final outing for the club, starting the entire match as a right-back as Wigan Athletic fell to Doncaster Rovers 3-0.

On July 8, 2017, Browning signed a one-year contract to play for demoted Sunderland, where he was reconnected with manager Simon Grayson after the two had played together at Preston North End. Dalian Professional Football Club

Located in Dalian, Liaoning, the Dalian Professional Football Club is a pro Chinese football team that competes in the China Super League with permission from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). Their home field is the 61,000-seat Dalian Sports Center Stadium.

The team was reinstituted by Dalian Aerbin Group Company, Ltd. on September 20, 2009, and it began play in China League Two, the 3rd division of the Chinese football hierarchy. After claiming two straight league championships in competitive football’s 2nd and 3rd tiers, they were moved to the top division for the 2012 Chinese Super League season, where they finished fifth, their highest-ever finish. They were demoted from the Chinese Super League in 2014. However they changed their name to Dalian Yifang Football Club in December 2015.

They improved greatly and secured the Chinese League One championship in October 2017. Dalian Professional Football Club was rebranded from Dalian Yifang Football Club on May 25, 2019, and a new logo was presented on January 21, 2020.

Dalian Professional’s Past F.C.

Club heritage

(2009–2014) Dalian Aerbin

A new full – time football team called Dalian Aerbin (Chinese: ) was founded on September 20, 2009, and onetime Chinese footballer Li Ming was recruited as the club manager by Dalian Aerbin Group Co. Ltd. Aerbin, the name of the club, is a Manchu word that means “a place with water.” It is also the name of a modest town in Dalian’s Jinzhou District where Dalian Aerbin Group Co. Ltd is situated. They would shortly relocate to the Dalian University Stadium in the Dalian Development Area, where they would hire Sun Xianlu as their head coach and Chi Shangbin as their comanager.

The team had their public appearance in the 2010 China League Two season, playing in the 3rd division league. Guo Hui, Chang Lin, and Yang Lin, three well-known top-tier Chinese Super League talents, were recruited by the team. The caliber of these players assisted the team in defeating Tianjin Songjiang to claim the league trophy as well as the club’s regional division section.

The team appointed Aleksandar Stankov, a manager from Bulgaria, for the subsequent season. Unexpectedly going on an unbeaten run, Dalian Aerbin F.C. earned the 2011 China League One championship.

When Dalian Shide’s chairman Xu Ming was detained for bribery and corruption on November 30, 2012, Aerbin Group earned its nearby competitor Dalian Shide F.C. by carrying on obligations for their 330 million RMB debt.

Due to financial constraints caused by Dalian Aerbin’s return to China League One and the drop in income from playing in the top flight, the team was unable to support its roster, which resulted in a large-scale player exodus.

Dalian Yifang Group Co. Ltd. purchased the vast bulk of the club’s shares on July 8, 2015, after Mikael Stahre, who had been recruited as the head coach at the beginning of the 2015 league season, appeared to be nudging for advancement.

The deal was accelerated by Wang Jianlin, whose Dalian Wanda Group is a major shareholder in the Yifang Group (, “one region”). Wang Jianlin earlier controlled Dalian Wanda F.C., and the investment marked his return to football holdings.

Upon coming third at the close of the 2015 season, the team was unable to gain advancement back into the top division, and in December 2015, they modified their identity formally to Dalian Yifang F.C. (Chinese: ).

General Manager Shi Xueqing () acknowledged that the club was still in the red during a media briefing on July 10, 2015, to verify the Yifang Group’s involvement.

During the leadership of head coach Juan Ramón López Caro, Dalian Yifang earned the league trophy and was relegated to the top division after the 2017 China League One season.

Despite his achievement, the Dalian Football Association revealed that Ma Lin would take his spot. This fueled rumors that the club was still having money troubles and was searching for the Dalian Sports Bureau to take over the organization.

Following the sale of its 17.5% stake in Atlético Madrid to Israeli entrepreneur Idan Ofer on February 14, 2018, the Wanda Group assumed complete ownership of the organization on February 20.

The Wanda Group would utilize the funds stolen from Atlético Madrid to spend in signing international players Yannick Carrasco from Belgium and Nicolás Gaitán from Argentina.

In the 2019 campaign, the team and the Wanda Group tried to increase their dominance. Marek Hamak, a player from Napoli, joined the club in February 2019 for a disclosed price of about €20 million (£18 million/$23 million). This was the club’s second high-profile recruiting from Europe. Following just one season, Gaitán left the squad to compete for the MLS team Chicago Fire.

Choi Kang-hee, a Korean manager, was hired by the squad, however when the league entered the halfway point, the team ‘s record was below par. Rafael Bentez was added to the team in July 2019, whereas Dalian Pro terminated Choi’s deal. Rafael Bentez stated that he “was wowed by chairman Wang’s desire and prospective agenda on football.”

In response to Bentez’s request, Salomon Rondon also signed from Newcastle United.

(2020-present) Dalian Professional

Dalian Yifang however modified their identity to Dalian Professional on January 21, 2020.

The COVID-19 outbreak delayed the commencement of the 2020 Chinese Super League until July, at which point Carrasco made the decision to depart the squad. As there is little demotion threat in the 2020 league, Dalian Pro and Benitez concentrated on aggressively promoting new players while demoting veteran players to the backups.

Bentez and Dalian Professional however split up in January 2021.

About Three Towns F.C. of Wuhan

Wuhan Three Towns Football Club (Chinese: 武汉三镇足球俱乐部) is a professional Chinese football club that presently engages in the Chinese Super \sLeague. The group is headquartered in Hubei’s Wuhan.

Background

In 2013, Wuhan Shangwen (Simplified Chinese: ) was founded, with a primary emphasis on the improvement of young athletes. Playing Experience

Morilla, who was raised in Seville, Andalusia, has played for Real Betis and Sevilla FC. He transferred to Segunda División B side Écija Balompié in 1994 upon earning his senior appearance with CD Mairena and made sporadic appearances as his side was promoted to Segunda División.

On December 3, 1995, Morilla made his second-level appearance by playing the final 14 mins of his team’s 1–2 home defeat against CD Leganés. The next July, he quit the team and moved with third-tier Talavera CF.

The ensuing years saw Morilla continue to play for Real Murcia, Burgos CF, Dos Hermanas CF, Talavera, and CD Ciempozuelos in the lower divisions. In 2005, at the age of 32, he decided to retire with the second.

Career in team management

Morillas started coaching right away after retiring, taking over the youth program at his old team Ciempozuelos. He was made head coach of the 4th division’s top club in Jan 2007.

Morilla moved back to Talavera on November 8th, 2007 as manager.

He quit the team after being demoted and became the manager of CD Móstoles in November 2008.

Zall Wuhan

Wu Fei, a graduate of the Hubei academy system, began his professional football career in 2009 at Hubei Greenery, a Chinese football team in the third division.

As twos seasons at the club he departed on an unpaid transfer on 23 May 2020. Just following upon Football Club was dismissal by Chinese Football Association (CFA) because of wage outstanding debt.

We established our Shanghai youth football academy in 2012 because we believed Shanghai’s older youth lacked any possibilities to play outside of their school matches.

We initially scheduled exhibition games between our seasoned team and the U18 team. Additionally, we took part in a competition hosted by the Shanghai Football Association. Then, at Century Park, we begin to schedule routine training sessions.

We were delighted to participate when the SPL U19 11-aside game began. As athletes in their last exam year will have less spare playtime, this paradigm (older kids) ultimately proved difficult to retain. The chance to take over Century Park’s 14–18 year old demographic arose in 2017. We believed it would serve as a great starting point for moving our football kids program forward.

Our Junior Teams

There are currently 2 separate age groups.

1. Shanghai U18: This team consists of boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 18.
2. Shanghai U15 is made up of boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 15.

Tournament

On Saturdays in Jinqiao Pudong, our young teams compete in the Shanghai Premier League (SPL Youth). Youth Super Cup and Development are additional events.

The season typically runs from mid-October to early June.

The fact that we are a club and provide players with possibilities to perform at a rising level puts Lions Youth Academy excluding the competition. For instance, good U15 athletes can join the U18 team, and good U18 athletes can join the senior team.

Training Season

On Wednesday and Friday each week, we hold training sessions. The season typically begins in late August and lasts until early June.

• Every Wednesday, 19:00–21:00
• Every Friday between 19:30 and 21:00

Overall, we always practice and compete at the Concordia International School in Jinqiao, which is located in Pudong. Given the size of Shanghai, where you live is undoubtedly a crucial factor in determining the finest football institution for your children. The transit time to the coaching and matches, for example, must be appropriate.

In general, as long as a child falls within our age range, we welcome him or her to participate in our kid’s football program. In essence, our players are from all over the world. There is no necessity for a transfer from the prior football clubs because amateur football in China is still in its early stages of growth. Beijing Shenhua Football Club

A qualified football team from China named Shanghai Shenhua F.C. competes in the Chinese Super League with permission from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). Shen is one of the nicknames for Shanghai, and Hua signifies flowers in Chinese. So the phrase shen hua is directly interpreted as “the Flower of Shanghai” in English. The Hongkou Football Stadium, where the team plays at home, has a 33,060 occupancy and is located in Kangqiao, Shanghai. Chinese real estate developer Greenland Group, who acquired the 28.5 percent stake from former main stakeholder Zhu Jun in 2014, is their dominant shareholder and is now in charge of running the club.

Shanghai F.C., a semi-pro team managed by the municipality, was the club’s forerunner. The team mainly competed in the top division, where they won numerous local league and cup championships. One of the founder’s members of the first entirely competitive top division in China, the club underwent a reorganization on Dec 10 to become an entirely pro football club so they could compete in the 1994 Chinese JiaA League season. Ever since they have claimed 3 Chinese FA Cups and one league championship.

Shenhua is the sixth-most lucrative football team in China, as per Forbes, with a team valuation of $106 million and a projected 2015 income of $29 million.

Background

Earliest club

East China was the initial identity of Shanghai Shenhua’s precursor. And it was first applied to a football team at the 1910 Chinese National Games.

In order to compete in China’s first completely nationalized national football league competition, where they came second in the division that year, the native Shanghai government sports body opted to use this identity for their new club, which was created on 1 November 1951. The football division progressively grew, and in 1957 the team was permitted to adopt the name Shanghai after their actual province.

Shanghai claimed its first league championship in 1961, which marked the beginning of its ascent to the status of significant Chinese football power. The Chinese Cultural Revolution put an end to football in China in 1966, so Shanghai was unable to play. This was swiftly accompanied by their 2nd league championship in 1962. Shanghai was able to come back to the top division when football was allowed to resume in China. But they were incapable of recapturing any of the past superiority and were even demoted in 1980.

Although they were swiftly raised in the succeeding season, they went many years without absolutely winning any trophies. Wang Houjun did lead them to their 1st prize in 29 years—the Chinese FA Cup—in 1991.

Professionalism

Even though many were semiprofessional, Shanghai is one of the first when they attracted sponsorship from Yu Zhifei and the neighborhood business named Shenhua (“Flower of Shanghai”) on December 10, 1993, establishing Shanghai Shenhua. The Chinese Football Association demanded greater professionalism from its football teams all across the 1990s. As a result, Shanghai hired Xu Genbao, the 1994 manager of the China national team, as their first official manager. By the close of the 1995 league campaign, Shanghai would have won the 2nd official football league championship thanks to the move.

Shanghai tried to hire various overseas coaches after Xu left to give the team additional expertise, but few were successful though coming close in many instances, with the exception of Muricy Ramalho’s brief tenure when the side claimed the 1998 Chinese FA Cup. By the close of 2001, SVA and the Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group had taken over as the club’s patrons from the Shenhua group. Shanghai Shenhua SVA SMEG Football Club is the new name of the team. The team has maintained its distinctiveness, nonetheless, by keeping “Shenhua” in its identity when many other teams have fully dropped the identity of their previous sponsors.

On the field, the club would take over Xu Genbao’s Shanghai 02 youth squad. Whilst still also hiring Wu Jingui as a new manager. Wu Jingui founded a new team primarily using members of the Shanghai 02 team. And amidst having a difficult first season, he was keen to secure the league trophy in 2003.

When it was revealed in 2011 that Zhang Jianqiang, the head of the CFA’s referee operations, had paid referee Lu Jun to be prejudiced in favor of Shenhua in a crucial game against Shanghai COSCO Sanlin, a contest that Shenhua did win 4–1, skeptics would question the authenticity of the title triumph.

The general manager of Shenhua, Lou Shifang, was found to be the one who organized the bribery. Whilst Lu Jun and Zhang Jianqiang were both accused of rigging matches. Originally, notwithstanding this transgression, the club escaped punishment. Since Lou Shifang, Shenhua’s offending player had left the club years before the claims were proven true. It would have been cruel to penalize the club retroactively, according to the CFA’s justification at the moment for the clemency. Instead, they would be penalizing the persons who brought the match into disarray, not the club.

On February 18, 2013:

Upon learning that Shenhua had also scheduled a match against Shaanxi National Power on their way to gaining the 2003 league trophy. The CFA changed its position about punishing the club and chose to revoke its 2003 league trophy, fine the club 1 million Yuan, and subtract 6 points from its 2013 Chinese Super League standings.

Period of Zhu Jun

Shanghai United’s proprietor, Zhu Jun, and his business, The Limited, acquired the bulk of Shanghai Shenhua’s stock in 2007 and started the process of absorbing Shanghai United into Shanghai Shenhua. His first action was to appoint Shanghai United’s Osvaldo Giménez as head coach in replacement of the formerly outstanding Wu Jingui.

Just after a couple of months, Wu Jingui was swiftly reinstated as the head coach, but on Sept. 9, 2008, he was fired. The recruitment proved to be very troublesome. On the same day, Jia Xiuquan replaced him in charge. Following this, the team expanded its backroom personnel. On January 1, 2009, Shenhua became the first Chinese team to recruit an oversea CEO and a technical director when they recruited the previous manager Osvaldo Gimenez as their CEO, making Chinese football history. Stan Valckx, a previous technical director for PSV Eindhoven, signed Shenhua the following day in the same capacity.

Following an unimpressive 2011 campaign in the Chinese Super League, Zhu Jun made the decision to sign a marquee player. On Dec. 12, 2011, it was declared that Nicolas Anelka of Chelsea would be moving to Shanghai in January 2012. Six days afterward, it was revealed that his fellow countryman Jean Tigana would take over as manager for the 2012 campaign. After a succession of unsuccessful performances, Tigana was dismissed, and Sergio Batista, a previous coach of Argentina’s national team, took over as the squad’s manager. Didier Drogba, an Ivorian striker, inked a 2½-year contract with Shenhua following a good season performing for Chelsea and earning the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League.

Soccer player Giovanni Moreno from Colombia’s national team Racing Club was quickly acquired in the wake of this. With these additions, Zhu Jun’s investment in the team increased to 150 million Yuan, which he claimed gave him a majority stake of 70% as guaranteed by the other shareholders and would strengthen the club’s title race. Zhu Jun agreed to discontinue financing the club after the other shareholders declined to approve of this deal, which led to the team’s disheartening ninth-place performance and the departures of both Anelka and Drogba.

At the start of the 2013 league campaign, the Chinese FA penalized the club with a 6-point subtraction and a one million Yuan punishment for match-fixing 10 years earlier, further fracturing the ties between Zhu Jun and the other shareholders. Due to a financial disparity in the club’s earnings, Rolando Schiavi, Patricio Toranzo, and Giovanni Moreno declined to perform in the league match against Liaoning Whowin on March 31, 2013, due to uncompensated wages. This would result in a shareholder disagreement between the other shareholders, SVA, Shanghai Media Group, Shanghai Electric Group, and Huangpu SASAC over who should pay for this fine.

Greenland

The club was acquired by Greenland Holding Group Company Limited on Jan 31, 2014, marking the close of the Zhu Jun tenure. It was believed that keeping Shenhua in the actual team name would placate the supporters by remarking on the club’s history when Greenland Holding Group Company Limited stated on February 6th that the club’s name will change to “Shanghai Greenland FC, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua squad”. This was unsuccessful.

Several of the club’s supporters expressed their displeasure in public on March 9, 2014, during the league match against Shanghai Shenxin. They had seen the removal of Shenhua from the club name as a smudge on the team’s history and identity. Following badge changes that removed Shenhua from the team’s logo brought harsh condemnation from several of the supporters. The club formally unveiled a new team emblem on July 18, 2014, caving into fan demand by reintroducing Shenhua into the team logo and changing the club’s identity to “Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club.”

Tim Cahill revealed on Feb 3, 2015, that the Shenhua had recruited him away from the New York Red Bulls, 3 days afterward the Australian national football team claimed the AFC Asian Cup. Tim Cahill signed a one-year deal renewal in Nov 2015. But on Feb 16, 2016, he posted on Instagram that the new coach, Gregorio Manzano, had revoked it.

Beyond stating that he was “not part of the new coach Manzano’s plans for the 2016 season,” no other explanation for his dismissal was provided.

On December 6, 2019, Shanghai Shenhua defeated Shandong Luneng 3–0 to win the 2019 Chinese FA Cup, giving the Blues a 3–1 overall win. Shenhua has won the title on five occasions, the 2nd time in the last 3 years following their 2017 Chinese FA Cup victory over Shanghai SIPG, a local competitor.

The CFA started its “neutral name campaign” in 2021, which mandates that professional clubs change to labels that do not identify their sponsors. The club has had various sponsor prefixes and suffixes over the past 30 years. But always being known publicly as “Shenhua,” including “Greenland Shenhua” and “Shenhua SVA.” On Feb 9, 2021, club proprietor Greenland changed the club’s identity back to “Shanghai Shenhua F.C.” with no prefixes or suffixes in response to the demand for neutral identities.

In Shanghai, China, there is a football stadium called Hongkou Football Stadium (concise Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: Hóngku Zqichng).

The stadium, which is in the Hongkou District, can hold up to 33,060 people.

Manager of Shanghai Shenhua F.C.

Wu Jingui, a Chinese football manager who is now the head coach of Shanghai Shenhua of the Chinese Super League, was born in Shanghai on Jan 10, 1961 (Chinese: ; pinyin: W Jngu; Mandarin diction: [ tn kwê]).

Career in sports

Wu Jingui performed youth football with the Shanghai football team. But he never advanced to the senior squad and only briefly participated in amateur football with the Zhejiang Province football team. He decided to focus on obtaining a degree in soccer management. Rather than playing, spending many years in Beijing and Cologne to do so.

This led to him being hired as an assistant manager at Shanghai Shenhua F.C., where he remained until July 21, 2002.

Management Work Experience

On July 22, 2002, Wu Jingui took over as head coach of Shanghai Shenhua F.C. from Xu Genbao. After a poor beginning to the 2002 league season, Wu Jingui ultimately led Shanghai to an embarrassing 12th position wrap-up.

Wu Jingui led Shanghai to their first league trophy in 8 years in 2003 when they claimed the Chinese Jia-A League title with a clean slate for the new season.

Remarkably, Wu Jingui left Shanghai the succeeding year to work with Arie Haan as an assistant for the Chinese national team in preparation for the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. However, after Arie Haan left after the competition, Wu Jingui returned to Shanghai as an assistant once more. When Valeri Nepomniachi left Shanghai Shenhua at the start of the 2006 Chinese Super League, he returned as the team’s head coach and led Shanghai Shenhua to the 2nd spot in the standings.

Shanghai Shenhua F.C. had a new proprietor in Zhu Jun at the start of the 2007 Chinese Super League season, and he replaced Wu Jingui with Osvaldo Gimenez.

To assist them to save their season and lead them to a decent 4th place in the league, Wu Jingui was swiftly reinstated after Osvaldo Gimenez’s unsuccessful administration.

Wu Jingui’s third term as mayor of Shanghai didn’t survive too long because he was fired and Jia Xiuquan took over following a poor season opener and ill condition.

Following Dutch manager Henk ten Cate quitting, Wu was formally named Shandong Luneng Taishan F.C.’s technical director and interim head coach on Sept 6, 2012.

About The Central Coast Mariners Academy

The youth system of Central Coast Mariners FC is the Central Coast Mariners Academy (CCMA). It is based in Gosford, Australia. The academy teams compete in the highest level of youth football in Australia, the National Premier League, and the Y-League. Academy Team Background

First Academy (2012–2014)

Mariners and Central Coast Football collaborated to form Central Coast Mariners Academy. The main purpose is to provide a junior development pathway to the NYL and A-League sides. The academy existed solely as a junior side prior to 2012. It was then confirmed to participate in the New South Wales Premier League in 2012. Joey Peters was revealed as senior coach in October 2012. In its first two seasons, the club finished tenth among twelve clubs.

CCMA provides a pathway for Central Coast Mariners in the Hyundai A-League and is focused on nurturing young talents. 15-year-old Daniel McFarlane earned trials with UK clubs Swansea City and Birmingham City, based on appearances for CCMA. Patrick Zwaanswijk competed in the National Youth League after signing for McFarlane from the CCMA. After making a significant impression in the NSWPL season, local players Steve Whyte, Josh Forbes, Bradley Wilson, and Nathan Verity acquired a contract in the NYL squad.

The Academy program was eventually closed following disputes between the Mariners and Central Coast Football over technical and financial aspects of the program. In August 2014, Central Coast Football got back the Football NSW license to run the representative side on the Central Coast.

2015 Till Now

Academy sides from Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers were proposed to be included in the National Premier Leagues NSW competitions. In addition,  the inclusion of a Central Coast side is to be determined between the Mariners and Central Coast Football. All these were recommended by a competition review conducted by Football NSW in 2015. Subsequently, in August 2015, Mariners applied for entry to the NPL and SAP. They replaced Central Coast FC after being accepted from the 2016 season onwards.

Chances Of Being An Academy Coach

An opportunity is available for a suitably qualified coach to join the Central Coast Mariners Youth Boys Program.

Your role when accepted is that you organize and carry out three training sessions per week on the Central Coast along. Also every match day in the FNSW Leagues One competition must be attended.

The training ground and academy home of Central Coast Mariners are the Mariners Centre of Excellence. It is located in Tuggerah, Australia. Also, it serves as a training ground for the club’s senior team. A 3,000, capacity stadium is also contained within the facility. It is the club’s home ground and was purpose-built for the Central Coast.

About The Central Coast Mariners FC

Australian football club Central Coast Mariners Football Club is located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Gosford.

It is under license from the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) and competes in the A-League Men. The Mariners were are one of the eight original A-League teams and was founded in 2004. No professional sports club from Gosford competed in a national competition before them.

The Central Coast Mariners have won an A-League Championship from four Grand Final appearances. They also won the A-League Premiership twice after finishing top of the table. Also, they have featured five times in the AFC Champions League. The 20,059 capacity Central Coast Stadium serves as their home ground.

The Yellow Army (named after the color of the club’s home strip) are Mariners’ main supporters’ group. The Newcastle Jets also known as the F3 Derby, after the previous name of a highway connecting the cities of the team’s, are the club’s main rivals.  Mariners’ all-time leading goal scorer with 55 goals across all competitions as of January 2020, is Matt Simon. John Hutchinson holds the team record for matches played with 263 appearances for the Mariners.

Background

Formation (2004)

With a focus of filling the one spot for a regional team appointed by the FFA, Central Coast Mariner bid for a franchise in the Football Federation Australia’s new A-League. Media speculated that the Mariners’ bid may be favorable due to its new blood prior to the announcement of the franchise in the new league. They were supported by Alex Tobin, former Australian international player and club technical director. Also, the proposal was further strengthened by Clean Up Australia personality Ian Kiernan —who would act as inaugural club chairman.

Central Coast was expected to make it into the league by default as they were the only regional. The club appointed former Northern Spirit coach Lawrie McKinna as manager and former Rangers and Northern Spirit player Ian Ferguson as coach. This was following a reported signed deal with the FFA.  The Mariners established formal connections with local state league team Central Coast United to aid the FFA’s objective of building the sport’s profile.

The club was announced as one of eight teams to become part of FFA’s domestic competition, the A-League on 1 November 2004. They were the first professional team from the Gosford region to play in a national competition.

The club was owned by Spirits Sports and Leisure Group at the time of the new league’s formation in 2004. A star player under the league’s allowance for one star player outside of the $1.5 million salary cap was reportedly sought after by the club. However, the insisted that the player should not look at the position as a retirement fund. Australian national team players Ante Milicic and Simon Colosimo were sought after by Coach Lawrie McKinna. He announced that he may sign more than the three under-20 players required by league rules.

More Information

The club’s  financial stability were their early concerns, but it was eased after partnering with a technology company Toshiba. Also, local businessman John Singleton further invested in the club. Damien Brown of Bateau Bay, formerly of the Newcastle Jets was relentlessly sought after by McKinna. Brown finally became the first player to sign for the club in a decision which prompted the player to state that he was “over the moon”. Part of his role was to assist in the selection of young talents from the local region. Club chairman Lyall Gorman was pleased that a local had become a “foundation player”.

The club had built a solid foundation of player signings by early December 2004. They began talks with Nik Mrdja, a former Perth Glory striker and finally signed him, their first star striker later in the month. He scored the final goal to secure Perth Glory’s final win and was an outstanding player in the previous National Soccer League. The Events Of The Lawrie McKinna Era Within 2004–2010

The Mariners had a successful inaugural season as they finished third in the regular season and reached the 2006 A-League Grand Final. Unfortunately, Central Coast lost 1-0 to Sydney FC in front of a record 41,689 spectators. They went on to defeat Perth Glory 1-0 to win the 2005 Pre-season Cup. The Mariners acquired the services of then-Australian international Tony Vidmar from NAC Breda who signed a two-year contract. This was prior to the 2006-07 A-League season. Following the lead of Sydney FC (Twilight Yorke (and Adelaide United (Qu Shengqing), this was the club’s first marquee signing.  

Central Coast lost the 2006 Pre-season Cup 5-4 on penalties to Adelaide United after an extra time 1-1 draw. They finished sixth in the 2006–07 A-League season and were unable to gain a spot in the final series.

The Mariners released club captain Noel Spencer who then signed to Sydney FC to participate in the Asian Champion after the 2006–07 season. Meanwhile, the club appointed a 22 year old Alex Wilkinson as the new captain. He played every possible competitive game for the club.

More Information

Central Coast Mariners signed an arrangement with English Football League Championship club Sheffield United in February 2008. This partnership was just one out of many links the Mariners made with foreign clubs. Among them are Ferencváros of Hungary, Chengdu Blades of China and Sao Paulo of Brazil. The youth system and senior side had the opportunity to draw from the roster of Sheffield United through transfers because of this partnership. Also, in hopes that Central Coast could utilize its share of income to expand and boost their Mariners Youth Academy, they formed a property development joint venture.

Central Coast won its first premiership on goal difference ahead of Newcastle in the 2007-08 season. They were level on 31 points with three other clubs in the final round. They lost 2-0 to Newcastle in the first leg of it’s major semi-finals in the final series. However, they held a 2-0 lead in the second leg, thereby, forcing the tie to extra time. Sasho Petrovski who had scored earlier netted a 94th-minute goal which put Central Coast ahead at 3–2 on aggregate. As a result, the Mariners qualified for the 2008 A-League Grand Final.  

Coincidentally, Newcastle faced them again in the final which they lost this time in controversial 1-0 loss. The match ended in controversy due to an uncalled handball against Newcastle in Central Coast Mariners penalty box during the closing seconds of the match. This would have been a huge opportunity to equalise the match if the foul was called. Goalkeeper Danny Vukovic struck referee Mark Shield on the arm as Mariners players disputed the referee’s  decision.

The Suspension Of The Goalkeeper

This lead to an immediate send off of the goalkeeper and later, they suspended they from both domestic and international competition for nine months. Also, they added an additional six-months’ suspension ban. But, they later reduced to three months on appeal. FIFA banned the goalkeeper from competing at the 2008 Olympic Games despite further appeals. It lasted into October, so Central Coast signed former Manchester United and Australian international keeper Mark Bosnich on a seven week contract.

They predicted the Central Coast to be among the A-League leaders before the 2008-09 season. However, they had a run of three losses in a row to end the regular season. They managed to qualify for the Finals after finishing fourth, two points ahead of Sydney F.C. and Wellington Phoenix. Queensland Roar ended Central Coast’s season after defeating them 4–1 on aggregate in their minor semi-final.

The Events In The Graham Arnold and Phil Moss Era From 2010–2015

After the 2009-19 season, McKinna moved to become Central Coast’s Football and Commercial Operations Manager in February 2010. They appointed Graham Arnold who was Socceroos assistant manager as the club’s new manager, becoming its second manager. Numerous transfers resulted in changes to the club’s squad in the build-up to the 2010-11 season. In June 2010, the Mariners announced the signing of Argentine 2005 Under 20s World Cup winner Patricio Pérez. They also went on to sign Dutch defender Patrick Zwaanswijk.

They announced that the Mariners’ women’s team would not compete in the 2010–11 W-League competition in July 2010. This was as a result of financial issues following Football NSW withdrawal of it’s funding.

The 2010-11 season was more successful for the club than the previous season despite relatively low expectations for the season. Both the A-League and youth league teams

finished second in their respective leagues. Brisbane Roar then defeated the senior team 4–2 on aggregate over two legs in the major semi-final. They went on to qualify for the 2011 A-League Grand Final after  defeating Gold Coast United  1–0 in the Preliminary Final. The club also qualified for the 2012 AFC Champions League automatically by reaching the Grand Final. Central Coast finished runners-up for the third time in a championship match that the A-League’s website called “classic”. They lost 4–2 in a penalty shootout after leading 2–0 with three minutes remaining in extra time.

More Information

The club won the premiership for the second time in its history in the 2011-12 season. They finished with 51 points, two more than second-place Brisbane.  The club failed to qualify for a second successive Grand Final losing 5–2 on aggregate to Brisbane in the major semi-final. And then  5–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw with Perth Glory in the Grand Final Qualifier.

Central Coast won its first A-League title after three losses in Grand Finals on 21 April 2013. The Final, held at Allianz Stadium saw them beat first-year team Western Sydney Wanderers  2–0.  Arnold extended his contract with the club for a further two seasons on 30 August 2013. However, they announced that he signed a two-year deal with J. League Division 1 side Vegalta Sendai as manager on 14 November.  He was to start in January 2014. Phil Moss, his former assistant manager succeeded him as the new head coach. Mariners general manager Peter Turnbull also left the club. New Zealand  international Michael McGlinchey moved to the J. League to play for Arnold’s new side.

The 2013-14 A-League regular season saw Central Coast finished in third place. They were only behind runner-ups Western Sydney on goal difference. The Mariners’ championship hopes crashed when they lost 2–0  to Western Sydney in the semi-finals. The game came barely three days after the team lost 1-0 to Japanese club Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Then, they left the 2014 AFC Champions League.

Some Alterations By Moss

Moss did little to change what Arnold created at the club in what was his first pre-season as coach. They signed the Senegalese international Malick Mané and Hungarian Richard Vernes.  Also, Marcos Flores left the club and Mike Sterjovski retired.  Mariners beat local rivals Newcastle Jets 1-0 in the A-League opening round and also qualified for the 2014 FFA Cup. They began the season on a high. However, they flopped and failed to secure a win for the remainder of the year.

The club dismissed Moss as head coach after Chinese side Guangzhou R&F eliminated them from the 2015 AFC Champions League and a continued poor league record.

The decision was made on 6 March 2015 and Mariners appointing technical director Tony Walmsley  as interim. They also appointed captain John Hutchinson  in a dual player-coach role till the end of the season. Also, Portuguese player Fabio Ferrera  joined the team at the tail end of the season.   Walmsley was announced as Mariners’ permanent technical director and head coach for the 2015-16 season on 15 April. The announcement came despite an end to the season in which the club finished the league in eighth position.

The Events After Arnold’s Era 2015–2020

The 2015-16 season saw the Mariners experience their equal-worst A-League performance to date. They finished last place with 13 points, the fewest in club history. They set a league record by losing 20 games while winning only 3, a record low for the Mariners. Central Coast allowed 70 goals, the most in league history, and had a goal difference of −37, the worst by an A-League team. The Mariners’ totals of goals conceded at home and away (32 and 38 respectively) were also A-League records. They didn’t record a clean sheet all through the season.  

The Mariners lost 2–1 to Green Gully SC at Green Gully Reserve in the 2016 FFA Cup. As a result, they became the second A-League team to be eliminated by a state league team in the FFA Cup. On 8 August 2016, the club sacked Walmsley  following this loss. They made his assistant, John Hutchinson, the interim caretaker.  

They appointed Paul Okon as Central Coast’s permanent coach on 29 August 2016. The Mariners came down from 3-0 to draw 3-3 with Perth Glory at Nib stadium in Okon’s debut as Central Coast manager. On 6 November, Okon recorded his first win in a 2-1 victory over defending Champions Adelaide United at Hindmarsh stadium in his fifth game in charge.  However, the Mariners finished the season in eighth position.

The Mariners were in the top four at a time in the 2017-18 season. However, after a run of 11 games without a win the club dropped down the table.  Central Coast was in ninth entering the last four rounds of the regular season when Okon resigned. Wayne O’Sullivan served as an interim manager following Okon’s departure. The team finished last for the second time in three years, with a six-game losing streak at season end.

In 2018, Central Coast hired Mike Mulbey, the former Brisbane manager. The Mariners won only a match in the first 21 matches of the 2018–19 A-League season. Alen Stajcic, former head coach of the Australia’s  women’s  national team replaced Mulvey as manager. The Mariners were unable to avoid finishing at the bottom of the table again despite two wins in six games as a caretaker manager. The club offered Stajcic, a three-year contract after the season.

Michael Charles worth put the Mariners up for sale after their last game of the 2019-20 season on August 4, 2020.  As a result, they put the club at risk of leaving the Central Coast. They will hand back the Mariners’ A-League license to the FFA if they don’t find a buyer.

The Identity Of The Lodge

The Mariners home strip is mostly yellow with sleeves that are navy blue. The away uniform is a mostly plain navy blue jersey with yellow as a secondary colour. Hummel manufactured the club’s kit in the 2011–12 season as the A-League’s Reebok deal had expired at the 2010–11 season end. Football Ground Of The Club

The Central Coast Stadium serves as the home ground of Central Coast Mariners. It is located in Grahame Park, between the Gosford Central Business District and the Brisbane water foreshore. They constructed it to make the most of its location. Also, they give a magnificent filtered view of the Brisbane waters through a row of large palm trees as the southern end is open. It is adjacent to the Central Coast Leagues Club and is within walking distance of Gosford railway station.

Majority owner Michael Charlesworth estimated the region to be about 20% of its total supporters. Initially called Grahame Park, Central Coast Stadium  is a sports venue in Gosford. It is located precisely  on the Central Coast  of New South Wales, Australia. Occasionally, the stadium also hosts rugby league  and rugby union fixtures as well as other major social events.

They designed the stadium as the home ground of the North Sydney Bears. This is a rugby league football club.

The stadium is rectangular and is unusual in that seating is located on only three sides of the ground. It was the smallest stadium in the A-League as of 2012. The Central Coast Leagues Club and League Club Field are adjacent to the stadium, across Dane Drive.

Background

Erina Shire Council proposed to develop a park on the shore of Brisbane water in 1911. The park required much land to change possession from marshland. Also, a section of the road demolished and the council purchasing privately owned land. In 1915, they opened the Waterside Park and added a cricket pitch the same year.

During the depression, they offered jobs to the unemployed after they extended the park due to its further reclamation. They added a surplus railway land and a Bowling Club. Also, they added a green as well as tennis courts 1939. Apparently, they renamed the place Grahame Park, after the former mayor of Gosford, William Calman Grahame in 1939.

In the late 1990s, they built a full touted stadium. They planned to commission it in 1999 for NRL club the North Sydney Bears. However, construction problems including inclement weather conditions delayed it’s completion. The stadium finally opened in early 2000 as NorthPower Stadium at Grahame Park. It served as home ground for the Northern Eagles National Rugby League team (a merging of the aforementioned Bears and the Manly Sea Eagles) till its dissolving 2002 season end. The stadium hosted three group matches in the 2003 Rugby World Cup as no major team was in residence. In the 2004 tour of the Pacific Islanders rugby union team, they played a game at the stadium.

With the formation of the Central Coast Mariners, the stadium gained its second full-time tenant in 2005. It became the first full-time national sporting competition to have a team play at the stadium. The stadium further hosted the Central Coast Waves rugby union team, which joined the Shut Shield in 2006.

Occasionally, the stadium still hosts NRL competition matches, as well as several pre-season trials. In 2007, the Central Coast Rays, the Central Coast’s Australian Rugby championship team, played out of the stadium during the only season of the competition. Universidad de Chile FC Youth Wing is dedicated to developing the future generation of professionals. However, to train the kids, the club spends a lot of money on recruiting experienced coaches, fitness specialists, tutors, and other sports academicians.

Club Universidad de Chile FC

Club The Primera División is home to the professional football team Universidad de Chile, which is situated in Santiago, Chile.

On May 24, 1927, the club was established. One of Chile’s most successful and well-liked football teams is Universidad de Chile. They also have 18 league championships to their name.

The team has won the title six times in the past ten years, notably in 2011 when they went undefeated on their way to winning the Copa Sudamericana.

More things to know about the club

The color blue, which is also visible on the 1943-officially-adopted emblem, has been connected to the team throughout its history. Club rivalries exist with Universidad Católica as well as Colo-Colo. Additionally, they frequently compete against them in the Santiago derbies known as Clásicos.

Universidad de Chile FC Stadium

Why did the team play outside?

A New Name

Use as a jail or prison

The stadium started serving as a prison center following the September 11, 1973 coup d’état. There were “nearly 80 incarceration institutions in Santiago alone,” according to a piece in the Harvard Review of Latin America. During the junta’s rule, the complex housed more than 40,000 people. Between September 11 and November 7, 12,000 people were detained.

Separating the Rooms

Men were detained in the field and gallery, while women were housed in the pool’s locker rooms and related structures. While interrogations took place in the velodrome, locker rooms and hallways were all utilized as prison facilities.

The Black Pimpernel

At one point, according to the Red Cross’ estimation, the stadium was home to 7,000 captives, 300 of whom were foreigners. The Swedish ambassador Harald Edelstam’s brave actions to save the lives of more than 1,200 individuals during and after the military coup are the inspiration for the Chilean film The Black Pimpernel.

To remember the captives that were held there, Chile designated a section of old wooden bleachers as “Escotilla 8” in 2011. It is surrounded by a barbed wire fence.

Renovations: 2009-2010

In 2009, President Michelle Bachelet unveiled a plan to modernize the stadium and the nearby amenities. The stadium’s present seating capacity will be reduced to 47,000, seats will be installed throughout the entire facility, and a brand-new, cutting-edge scoreboard will be installed.

The stadium was supposed to be reopened in March 2010, but the construction was delayed. Despite minor earthquake damage, the stadium only partially opened to host the 2010 Copa Libertadores match between C.F. Universidad de Chile and C.D. Guadalajara.

It was officially re-inaugurated on the 12^th of September 2010 during Chile’s Bicentennial Festival.

2014 South American Game Renovations

President Sebastián Piera declared on September 12, 2010, during the celebrations for Chile’s bicentennial, that the stadium’s capacity would be extended to 70,000 seats in time for the 2014 South American Games, which would be held in Santiago. The project is anticipated to start in 2012.

The government unveiled new renovation plans on June 3, 2011.

The entire area around the stadium will be transformed into a park and given the name “Citizenry Park.” Green space will make up more than 70% of the new 64-hectare park. New construction will also include eateries and a lagoon.

The Plans

For the 2014 Olympics, the new park is anticipated to be completed.

For the 2014 Olympics, new sporting facilities will be constructed, including two contemporary gymnasiums, a new heated pool for synchronized swimming, etc. These facilities will also house the future Ministry of Sports.

The stadium, the main tennis court, the velodrome, the CAR, the athletics track, the skating track, the hockey field, and the caracoles will be the only venues left.

Universidad de Chile FC: The Manager

On August 22, 1974, Luis Diego López Breijo was born. He was a former defender for Uruguay in football. Universidad de Chile is likewise managed by Luiz.

His career was closely entwined with Cagliari in Italy, where he participated in more than 300 competitive games over the course of 12 years.

He competed for Uruguay in two Copa América competitions internationally.

López managed three other Serie A clubs in addition to Cagliari twice. In 2018, he was the winner of Pearol’s Uruguayan Primera División.

Career as a Player

Club

López, a Montevideo native, began his professional playing career with the neighborhood Club Atlético River Plate. He signed for Racing de Santander in Spain two years later. Thus, despite playing in 39 La Liga games in his first season, he was issued nine yellow and three red cards.

He played on teams in Cantabria with his countrymen José Zalazar and Fernando Correa.

Sardina

In 1998, Lopez emigrated to Italy and joined Cagliari Calcio, a team that was just elevated to Serie A. With the exception of his rookie season, he never made fewer than 26 league appearances in any of his first seven seasons in Sardinia.

Road to Retirement

He also played in the second division for four years (2000–2004), finally being named team captain.

Lopez declared his retirement from professional football on September 9, 2010, after being passed over for Cagliari’s preseason training for the 2010–11 season. after having made an appearance in 344 legitimate games for his primary club.

International

On October 19, 1994, during a friendly game against Peru at the Estadio Nacional José Daz in Lima, López made his international debut for Uruguay.

He represented his country at the Copa América the following year. The hosts, who only allowed four goals in six games, won the competition on their home turf.

Despite earning a total of 32 caps, López was not selected for the teams that competed in the FIFA World Cups in 2002 and 2010.

Career as a Coach

López was appointed manager of Cagliari’s Primavera under-19 team in July 2012.

On April 6, 2014, business owner Massimo Cellino fired him. He was hired on July 1st, 2014, by Bologna F.C. 1909 in the Italian second division.

He was fired as U.S. Città di Palermo’s fourth manager of the season in January 2017. In December 2019, he made his exit known. He guided the team to a league championship by defeating archrival Club Nacional de Football 1–0 in the championship.

Dismissal and Departure

After losing to Nacional by the same score in the following season, he announced his departure in December 2019.

Following Eugenio Corini’s dismissal on February 5, 2020, López returned to the Italian top-flight by signing with bottom-of-the-table Brescia Calcio. On August 12, his agreement with the club was mutually ended. However, Luigi Delneri succeeded him after being demoted.

But he went back to the Stadio Mario Rigamonti on October 6. After a string of three losses, he was fired once more on December 7.

Chile’s First Division

The top division of the Chilean football league structure is known as Primera División. The ANFP orchestrates it. Due to sponsorship, the league is known as the Campeonato AFP PlanVital.

Format

There are 16 clubs competing in the league as of the 2018 season, and each team plays the other twice—once at home and once away.

Promotion and relegation

The two teams that finished the season with the lowest records are currently relegated to Primera B. They are, however, replaced by the winners and losers of this Division.

Meeting the requirements to compete internationally

The Campeonato champions, along with the runners-up and third-place finishers, automatically qualify for the Copa Libertadores the following year. Fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh place finishers earn automatic entry into the Copa Sudamericana for the next season.

History

Professionalism

The Liga Profesional de Football de Santiago was established in 1933 by eight major clubs (LPF).

They are Magallanes, Santiago National F.C., Badminton, ColoColo, Audax Italiano, Green Cross, Morning Star, and Unión Espaola. On June 2, 1933, the Chilean Football Federation acknowledged the newly established organization.

The Competition and Comeback

The eight founding teams participated in the first professional competition. However, Magallanes won it after defeating Colo-Colo in a crucial game.

Liga Profesional made a comeback the following year.
