    About Peterborough United F.C.:

Peterborough United Football Team, nicknamed “The Posh”, is a professional English football club based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. They compete in the Championship, the second division of the English football league. Their main rivals are Cambridge United. The team has a rich history, with numerous promotions and relegations, and has been under the guidance of notable figures like Barry Fry and Darren Ferguson.

    Stadium:

Since its foundation, the team has played at London Road Stadium. Now, with a seating capacity of 20,000, proposals are in the works for a new stadium. The record attendance is 30,096 during an FA Cup match in 1965. The stadium has undergone several name changes due to sponsorships, the latest being the “Weston Homes Stadium” in 2019.

    Rivals

Cambridge United is viewed as the primary rival to Peterborough, according to the Football Fans Census. In 38 matches against each other, Peterborough has won 16 times, Cambridge 15 times, with Peterborough netting 53 goals to Cambridge’s 52. From 2001 to 2017, their only meeting was in the Checkatrade Trophy, where Peterborough emerged victorious 2–0.

Many fans see Peterborough as part of the Pride of Anglia derby, which features clubs from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and sometimes Essex. The highest attendance at a Peterborough home game during the 2019-20 season was against Ipswich Town, drawing 10,071 fans. Tickets for the rematch at Peterborough were sold out.

There’s also a long-standing rivalry with Lincoln City, intensified when Peterborough made a comeback from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 on May 1, 2021, ensuring their promotion to the Championship and forcing Lincoln into the playoffs.

    History

The subsequent season was among the most successful for the club. After some early struggles, they defeated Wimbledon and Newcastle United in the League Cup. Their reward was a home game against Liverpool, which they won thanks to a Garry Kimble goal, taking them to the quarter-finals. Despite a promising cup run and an upward trajectory in the league, they were denied a trip to Wembley in the Football League Trophy. They did, however, secure a play-off position. Their Semi-final against Huddersfield Town saw a dramatic draw and a comeback win, culminating in a victorious play-off final against Stockport County in 1992.

Between 1992 and 1994, they competed in Football League Division One, achieving their highest-ever league position by finishing 10th.

    2001–2010

The 2005–06 season saw frequent managerial changes. After Mark Wright’s departure, Barry Fry temporarily took over, followed by Steve Bleasdale, and then Keith Alexander. Darren Ferguson took the helm and achieved back-to-back promotions. But by November 2009, they faced relegation and Ferguson was replaced by Mark Cooper, then Jim Gannon, and finally Gary Johnson.

    2011–present

Gary Johnson left due to disagreements in 2011, and Darren Ferguson returned. Despite defensive challenges, Peterborough finished fourth in the 2010-11 season of Football League One. They won the playoffs, securing promotion. However, by 2013, they faced another relegation. They did find success in 2014 by winning the Football League Trophy. Darren Ferguson resigned in 2015 after a loss. In 2021, a dramatic draw with Lincoln City ensured their return to the Championship, ending eight years in League One. However, Ferguson left the club again in 2022, with Matthew Etherington taking over. Sadly, by April 2022, Peterborough was relegated to EFL League One.

    Reading F.C. Academy and Under-23s

Reading Football Club’s developing teams are known as the Reading Academy. The Under-23 team competes in the Premier League 2 – Division 2 and the Under-18 team competes in the U18 Premier League – South Division in the Professional Development League.

Andy Williams, Scott Taylor, and potential England international Neil Webb were all first-team players who came through the club’s previous junior training program. Following the Academy’s inception in 1999, 52 graduates have gone on to feature first-team football for Reading, featuring Gylfi Sigurdsson, who was subsequently traded for a club-record transaction sum.

    Background

In February 1999, the Football Association awarded Reading Academy accreditation. John Stephenson was the club’s initial Academy manager, overseeing the club’s youth development till October 2000, when he joined Preston North End. Nick Hammond, an ex Reading goalkeeper who was also the goalkeeping instructor at the time, took over as his successor.

Hammond consolidated all three positions after becoming Reading’s first Director of Football in September 2003. Until Exeter City manager Eamonn Dolan was appointed as the new Academy manager in October 2004. The club began practising at leased premises at Sonning Lane and Bradfield College before establishing their home practice range at Arborfield’s Hogwood Park in 2004.

Sometime in July 2012, the club established a two-year Academy relationship with Boreham Wood, with the club striving for a 50 per cent Academy player first-team. In an attempt to achieve the requirements for Category One classification, the club had to find a fresh practice facility after the four-tier academy structure was implemented in 2012 under the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

In May 2013, the club reached an agreement to acquire property for a fresh practice complex at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club for between £10 million and £20 million. The club received Category One classification in July of 2013.

Between 1995 and 1998, the Reading replacements participated in the Capital League prior to actually attending The Football Combination, where they competed from 1998 to 2006, with the exception of the 1999–2000 season. The reserve team was upgraded to the Premier Reserve League for the 2006–07 season in conjunction with the senior squad’s progress to the Premier League in 2006. The reserves won the overarching trophy in their first season under prospective first-team boss Brian McDermott, finishing first in the Southern Division and defeating Bolton reserves 2–0.
The subsequent season, they placed second, however, were dropped as the first team to be relegated from the Premier League.

Upon their demotion, the reserves returned to the Football Combination and stayed until 2010, when they left to organize their own matches against higher-level opposition.

The under-21 and Academy (under-18) squads participated in the new Professional Development League 1 for the 2012–13 season as a result of the club’s application for Category One status under the EPPP. The under-18s finished second to Fulham in the inaugural edition, while the under-21s won the first U21 Premier League Cup the subsequent year.

    Under-23s

The under-23s conduct their local matches at the club’s practice base, Hogwood Park, with four games at the Madejski Stadium per season. Each match allows for the selection of three outfield players and one goalkeeper over the age of 23 and students from the Academy squad.

    Team of under-18s

Every year, the club recruits a handful of schoolchildren on scholarship deals, both from inside the institution and other teams, once they have completed their full-time studies.

The sponsorships are for two years, following which the player can either sign with a formal team or be discharged by the club. When a player is highly prized, the club may choose to enrol them on official agreements at a younger age. Although junior athletes are also able to qualify, the scholarship makes up the majority of the Academy squad, which participates in the under-18 division. In addition to the league, the Academy fields a squad in the FA Youth Cup.

The under-18s conduct their regular fixtures at Hogwood Park, the club’s practise facility, with a few friendlies at the Madejski Stadium each season. Each match allows for the selection of three outfield athletes and one goalkeeper over the age of 18 and students from the Academy team.

    Reading F.C. Academy’s training ground

Reading Football Club’s Bearwood Park Training Academy is a mixed-use project that converts the ancient 120-acre Bearwood Park Estate into an international development centre. This delicate location is being revitalized as part of a major accomplishment in the History of the club, with the goal of removing the Grade II Listed Park from the English Heritage’s ‘at risk’ list.

The construction will comprise the Club’s head office, work, residential, and leisure areas, as well as high-tech practice infrastructure for the first team and school teams, all housed in a sleek design and architecture that will provide high-quality housing and many advantages to the neighbourhood.

The proposal, which is the outcome of intensive and strategic consultation with Historic England and Wokingham Borough Council, provides essential enhancements to a considerable portion of Grade II Listed Park and Garden.

The initiative increases the significance of the region, such as its biodiversity, recreation facilities, and aesthetics, while the repair and transformation of under-utilized heritage homes contribute to Wokingham Borough Council’s housing supply.

The execution of the Elite Player Performance Plan will assist Reading Football Club to keep its Category 1 status by delivering this campus (EPPP). It is a tremendous resource for the Thames Valley as a world-class training complex, boosting the Club’s place in the football league and the related jobs and financial advantages.

Updated links with nearby colleges will be deepened as a result of the greatly upgraded and expanded facilities, providing considerable public welfare to the area.

    PROJECT INFORMATION

    • 48.5-acre park with a Grade II listing
    • World-class training institute
    • Reading FC Club HQ
    • High-tech training facilities
    • 13 high-quality football pitches
    • Contemporary, bespoke architecture

    Design-based delivery

Our four design concepts were developed in response to the development’s two critical problems. Firstly, restoring, enhancing, and protecting the site’s current resources. Secondly, providing a practice centre that allows the Club to be ever-evolving and successful at its peak point.

    1. Maintain, improve, and organize the ecological balance and tree planting of the premises.
    2. Preserve and improve the ancient scenery, perspectives, and structures.
    3. Establish a World-Class Training Campus with a central nucleus for Academy and First-Team players.
    4. Establish a safe and supportive atmosphere that takes advantage of the landform, grasslands, and building type of the premises.

The concept, construction, and landscape design all represent these ideas, resulting in a high-quality, thoughtful, and cohesive setting for the Club that fosters mobility, protection, availability, conservation, and identity.

Bespoke modern layout composites with the historic landscape background while still creating curiosity with simple, low-lying sculptural forms all sharing similar materiality to generate a unified family of pavilions. Historic roads and pathways have also been carefully rehabilitated, eliminating the need for new infrastructure.

The 13 pitches have been strategically placed to minimize waste extraction from the land. While existing trees have been preserved and new planting is consistent with the original estate.

Features of the old park and garden, such as the biologically rich meadow grasses, will be restored. Also, ancient views of the lake and park area will be replicated where suitable.

    F.C. Reading

Reading Football Team is an English football club based in Reading. Also, the team competes in English football’s second tier, the Championship. Paul Ince is the club’s manager.

Reading is recognized as The Royals because of its position in Berkshire’s Royal County, while they were originally known as The Biscuitmen because of the town’s relationship with Huntley and Palmers. Although the club was founded in 1871, it decided not to join The Football League until 1920, and only participated in the highest division of English football leagues for the first time in the 2006–07 season. The club participated in the 2012–13 Premier League season after conquering the Championship at the end of the previous season, however, was demoted after only one season in the top division.

Elm Park was the home of the club for 102 years, from 1896 until 1998. The club relocated to the new Madejski Stadium in 1998, which was nicknamed after previous chairman Sir John Madejski.

The club owns the milestone for the most consecutive league wins at the beginning of a season, with 13 wins in the 1985–86 Third Division season, as well as the record for the most scores, won in a professional league season, with 106 pts in the 2005–06 Football League Championship season. Reading placed ninth in the Premier League in 2006–07, their first season in the highest division.

The club made the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2014–15, and the quarter-finals the following season. In the 2016–17 EFL Title season, they also advanced to the championship playoff final.

    Reading Football Club Stadium

Reading was however prevented from practice at Coley Park in 1889 because WB Monck (the local squire) banned football owing to “rowdyism [by] the harsher parts.”

The Reading FC needed a decent ground when the team went official in 1895, with an enrollment of over 300. The year afterwards, at a conference, it was decided that financing would be problematic.

J C Fidler gave £20 on the condition that “no liquors be sold” on the premises. The remaining costs were covered by affluent supporters’ gifts and a single significant personal contribution.

The location has been recognized as an old gravel pit in West Reading. Reading and A Roston Bourke’s XI played the first match at Elm Park on September 5, 1896. Holloway College’s scratch team was the guests. With 2,500 people in viewership, £44 was collected at the entrance.

The yearly public assembly of the club in 1908 discussed shifting to a new field close to Reading railway station. The transfer would not be feasible, according to a council meeting the subsequent year, since “there was no hope of a relocation to the location close to the GWR railway stations attributable to the acts of the Great Western Railway.”

The Taylor Report of 1994 mandated that all-seater stadiums be built in the Premier League and the first division. Reading won the second division in 1994 and was elevated to the first division the following year. Although upgrading Elm Park to an all-seater stadium would have been impracticable, Reading became bound to the Taylor standards. Alternatively, a location for a new stadium has been proposed near Smallmead (to the south of the town).

However, the ex-council city dump was purchased for £1, with the additional stipulation that the stadium’s erection includes some financing of the A33 relief route.

Various entrepreneurial endeavours (especially recreational amenities) and joint use with other teams would be possible if the club’s home was expanded (such as rugby union clubs Richmond and London Irish). Reading lost 1–0 to Norwich City in the club’s final tournament game at Elm Park on May 3, 1998. The Madejski Stadium was where Reading began the 1998–99 season.

It was officially launched on August 22, 1998, with Luton Town losing 3–0.

The stadium’s construction required more than £50 million. Reading Football Club played in the Premier League for the first time in its existence in the 2006–07 season. Following sell-out attendance for their first few games of the season, the club expressed their desire to submit a project proposal in October 2006 to expand the stadium to between 37,000 and 38,000 seats. The proposal was submitted on January 24, 2007, intending to expand the East Stand by 6,000 seats (bringing the total size to roughly 30,000) and then expand the North and South Stand to meet the maximum intended size. On May 24, 2007, it was reported that building approval to expand the stadium to a size of 36,900 had been acquired.

Reading has announced intentions to build a modern practice field at Bearwood Golf Club to substitute its existing practice facility, Hogwood Park.

Reading confirmed that the North Stand would be nicknamed the Eamonn Dolan Stand after Eamonn Dolan’s burial on July 5, 2016.

  • How to Apply for Bournemouth FC Academy Scholarships

Are you a young footballer with an interest to play football for Bournemouth? Well, you can check out this article on How To Apply for Bournemouth FC Academy Scholarships. Also pay special attention to Bournemouth FC Academy, Dean Court, History of Dean Court, and Bournemouth Youth Football Association.

Due to the high salary of the English Premier League, the intention to join Bournemouth FC Academy and possibly play for an English Football club has risen over the years.

A fully functional football academy is a major requirement of all top-flight clubs and fortunately in the world today, the English League is regarded as the best and the most competitive.

Before the club signs a player, they go to the Academy to scout for talented players. However, because of youth players like Phil Foden, Manchester United has made lots of gains as they groomed him from the start for the senior team.

If as an upcoming Footballer you have dreams of playing in England, you have to meet all the requirements that the country’s embassy has put in place.

If you are thinking of a reason why you should consider joining an academy in England, just remember that if your goal is to be a professional footballer within a short time, this is the best thing you can do for yourself. Going through the ranks of an academy that can sky-rocket your career within a short time is a very good place to begin.

The competition over there extends to lower leagues too and not just EPL alone. This makes it compulsory for clubs to regularly source players that would represent them even at the highest level. To have a high count after the campaign, the English League buys players from within and outside the country to reinforce its squad.

Big clubs in the country are always on the lookout for young players that would help them reach their set goals every season and as a result, academies always want to stand out to get their attention. This sole reason is why many academics spend a lot of money to be able to get the best facilities there are that will help you become better so as to attract mouth-watering offers from big clubs.

Good and consistent players have a higher rate of being chosen.

What Gives You An Edge Over Others?

Playing for an Academy owned by a Professional Football club increases your chances of making the first team. This is because all progress from the youth setup is consistently monitored by the handlers of the professional setup. The greatest thing about joining a development team in England is the fact that your progress is taken note of and these professionals are always aware of new talents.

To increase the team’s confidence level, most Professional Football Clubs go on to mix youth players with their seniors. This also helps to boost competition among players which in turn makes them better.

Chances Of A Club Signing You Fast

Most clubs believe so much in their scouting team. This means that provided you can deliver on a field of play, you are sure to be signed into a club. Scouts are usually being sent to academies to look for good players like you and in most cases, if a player is very promising clubs compete to sign such a player.

Learning Skills That Are In synch with The “English Football” Pattern

Because of the high standard in which most Academies in the country operate, training young players with the modern style of football is a necessity. They commit to teaching you everything and anything you need to know about being a professional footballer and boosting your career.

    Some important things you are likely to learn are;

    General Football Rules

    • Skillfully and accurately passing a ball
    • Making good decisions while playing a game
    • Having modern football skills
    • Building player’s characters in general

Major requirements/qualifications to join a Football Academy in England

    • IELTS

This is a test majorly done for non-English students entering the country. It is very essential for international students.

    • Visit the UK International students’ portal

To know the complete requirements needed for students to enter the United Kingdom, you have to visit the UK students’ portal.

    https://www.gov.uk/apply-to-come-to-the-uk

If you really desire to be a student at England Football Academy, you have to meet all of the requirements enlisted in the portal by the English council for all international students.

In Tier 4, they made mention of Student visas. Your country’s embassy should give you a student’s visa first before you continue any other process.

The Visa is easily one of the most important documents you must possess as you cannot gain access to any country without it. The expiration of the visa differs from country to country. Still, before you make any move, first make enquiries on how to obtain a student visa for the country you’re going to. You can make your enquires from an embassy in your country that is affiliated with the country of your choice.

Applying for Bournemouth Academy in England

    Directly apply for the Academy

When we talk about Football Academies in England, there are so many options to choose from. Some of these Academies are owned by Professional Football clubs in the EPL and EFL Championship.

Applying to any one of these Academies is quite easy. All you have to do is send a postcard which contains vital information about you and your reason for wanting to join them through a mailbox.

You can also apply through an online platform or website or you can just directly go through the club’s youth development department and you will be invited for a trial.

Always be available for open day tryouts and showoff your skills

What is an open day try out?

This refers to the short term exercise usually organized for players to be able to showcase their skills to members of the official scouting team sent out by their representative clubs. If you don’t want to register or apply to an academy, then you shouldn’t miss any open days try out.

There are 2 kinds of the open day try out; Paid and Free. However, attending a paid open day tryout increases your chances of getting selected by a top Professional Football team.

On the other hand, you should also play your part too. You should take time to figure out ways that will boost your chances of being successful in the open day tryouts.

You should also make enquires about the venue for the exercise, how much Paid tryouts cost and all the requirements you must fulfil to be eligible.

Contrary to popular belief, the registration fee for tryouts is not so high. If you are an upcoming footballer yet to join an Academy, an open day tryout is the best place to find a Professional Football Club and be selected.

    Joining Bournemouth Academy

Things to do before making a move

Before making a move, be sure to have met all of these criteria as they might prove to be very important in the future.

    Consistent training

As an Athlete or Footballer, the only to improve on your craft and be better at what you do is consistency.

It would be to your own advantage if you conditioned yourself to train consistently every day. If you cannot train every day because of your schedule, then set out some days within the week that is dedicated to intensive training. If you do this regularly and you are true to it, there is no way you won’t become a master at what you do.

The only reason you have the Football mentors you have today is that they are consistent. If they weren’t, they won’t be top players and you won’t admire them. You should not take consistency lightly because sometimes consistency can do for you what your skill cannot do.

    Eating Right

If you’re going to take a shot at Professional Football then you have to start eating the correct kinds of food only.

Make enquires if you don’t know the right food to eat to boost your performance.

    Devotion

If you’re going to be the kind of footballer you want to be, if you’re going to be a professional footballer, then you have to devote all of you to football. Put most of your energy into becoming better and taking your career to another level.

    Focusing on your goals

It is one thing to set a goal and it is another to keep up with it. Setting a goal is the easy part. The main challenge is “can you keep up with the set goal?”

If you plan to join a Football Academy in England then you should make it a habit to keep up with your set goals. If you set a goal, work towards it. See it as your top priority.

One of the reasons successful people are successful is because they work towards their set goals. If you do so too, you will find yourself at the top.

    Daily improvement

Being a professional footballer takes time, effort and maximum commitment. It is not something that can be achieved in a day or two. Whenever you find yourself on the training ground, be sure to learn a new skill and as time goes on try to perfect it.

It is also important you build your self-confidence and always be ready to take on the big stage.

Joining a football academy is made easy in this article. All you have to do is follow the rules, have all the requirements, especially your International student visa and you are good to go.

I hope this article was helpful and you can now find your way through getting into a Football Academy in England and also know the best academy to settle for in the country.

    Bournemouth Youth Football Association

    Our League

Welcome to Bournemouth Youth Football League [BYFL] website. This website lets you in on our operation, the people involved and our history. You also get to know the Football clubs and players that sum up to make us the largest youth football league in South England. Very important information like our rules and regulations, details of our League officers and everything you should know about our affiliated clubs are contained here.

Every young person can find a club that is willing to offer them an opportunity to fully develop their football skills as well as their life skills and this is irrespective of their abilities or gender.

Nurturing the physical and mental development of our young players is very essential for their overall growth and this is achieved by inculcating the spirit of team work into them.

Our mission is simple: To ensure that the game of football is competitive and fair enough for young people of all abilities and ages to fully participate and provide them with a safe environment to do so.

It is safe to say without argument that Bournemouth’s youth has been the best in South England for a while now. Because of the desire to remain at the top, the need for competition is made obvious.

As a result of the need to be constantly in competition with other associations, Bournemouth’s under 21s do not play in any league having withdrawn from the Central League two seasons ago. They made multiple trips to the West yet no campaign fulfilled the club’s or rather the player’s yearning for a challenge. However until one particular thing is changed, that yearning for a challenge will never be met.

The best domestic academies in reserve football have two Premier League tiers. They are; Relegation and Promotion, Title winners and Title challengers. However, this is just a simplified version of the real thing majorly for the youths.

The youth teams of Bournemouth are AFC Bournemouth Under-21s and Academy. There is a reserve team made up of strictly Under-21 players and is mostly Bournemouth’s second-string side. These ones mostly contest the Central League cup and play in the Central League’s South East Division. The Academy team on the other hand is made up of Under-18 players. These ones contest the Youth Alliance Cup and play in the Youth Alliance League’s South West Division.

The Central Park Arena at Wimborne, Bournemouth is the venue where Home fixtures for both sides are contested.

    History

The BYFL, originally known as Bournemouth Youth Football Association was founded in 1971.

Bill Sherren and Bert Orchard were the two local football enthusiasts who realized because of the youngsters in their family interested in football that there were no opportunities locally for young people to play football in a meaningful and structured way.

After this realization, they decided to turn the normal Sunday afternoon kick out into a league that allows any young boy to put on a boot and play football with or against his mates as at that time only boys were allowed to play football.

After this was decided, they had to focus on organizing the competition under the patronage of the Football Association. Playing generally without rules became a thing of the past as they were replaced with real football on a real pitch with real referees.

    AFC Bournemouth

In Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England, there is a professional association football dub called AFC Bournemouth. This club was formed in 1899 and was called Boscombe before it was changed to its current name in 1971 and is nicknamed ‘The Cherries’. Now following their promotion, they will compete in the Premier League in the 2022-23 season. Since 1910 Bournemouth have played their home games at Dean Court.

An Italian club, AC Milan inspired their home colours which are Red and Black striped shirts, with Black shorts and socks.

The club went up from Hampshire League to Southern League in 1920 when it was still known as Boscombe. Before this, the club competed in Regional Football Leagues.

In 1923, they were elected into the Football League with their new name, Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic.

For 35 years they were in the Third Division South and in 1946, they won the Third Division South Cup. They suffered Relegation in 1970 after being placed in a newly organized Third Division in 1958. However, they would immediately get promoted in 1970-71. In 1975, they were relegated back into the Fourth Division and promoted yet again in 1981-82. They went on to win the Third Division title in 1986-87 after lifting the Associate Members Cup in 1984. Milan gained promotion by winning playoffs in 2003 after falling back to Fourth Tier with Relegation in 2002. They were however in Second Tier for three seasons and entered administration in 1977.

During their second term in administration, Bournemouth was Relegated back into League two and ended the year appointing a new manager, Eddie Howie. Bournemouth won a place in the First Tier of English Football for the first time after winning three promotions in six years under Howie’s stewardship.

They achieved this by coming second place in League Two in 2009-10, second place in League One in 2012-13 and bagging the Championship Title in 2014-15. The club again suffered Relegation in 2020 after staying in the Premier League for Five years. Under Head Coach Scott Parker, they returned as Championship Runner up in 2022.

    History

    Before Premier League [2009-2015]

Bournemouth finished second in League Two in Howie’s first full season in charge and they earned a promotion with two games to spare. Although Howie’s reign brought success to Bournemouth, the following season he left for Burleys.

His successor Lee Bradbury, a former Bournemouth player led the team to the League One playoffs. Bournemouth played against Huddersfield in the Two-legged semifinals and had a tie after extra time. However, Huddersfield went through to the final by winning the penalty shoot out. Bradbury was eventually replaced by Coach Paul Grovers for the final games of the season as he was unable to lead Bournemouth to another promotion in the 2011-12 Football League One. It placed 11th even after a season of indifferent results.

Grover was sacked in October 2012 because his tenure left the club near the bottom of the table. Eddie Howie eventually returned as manager and helped the club achieve promotion to the Championship which took them back to the Second Tier of English Football for the first time since 1990. A new club crest was also presented to the club. The club was handed a fourth-round FA CUP tie with Premier League club Liverpool which ended in a 2-0 loss. They finished their first season back in the Champions in 10th place which is the best match they ever played in the Football league.

Against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s, Bournemouth won 8-0 away on the 25th of October 2014. Not counting the 10-0 win against Northampton Town in September 1939 which was cancelled because the game was paused due to the Second World War, that was the club’s biggest margin yet and the first time the Cherries would ever score 8 goals in a League game.

This success was followed by a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League. For the first time ever they reached the quarter-finals of the league. However, when the club was drawn again with Liverpool they lost 3-1 yet it remained near the top of the table for most of the 2014-2015 season. When the team eventually won against Charlton Athletic, it was enough to have them claim the championship title and also sky-rocketed them to the top flight of the English Football.

    Premier League Era [2015-2020]

A lot of Bournemouth’s players got injured during the First season of the Premier League game. This included the star striker from the previous season Callum Wilson. For the most part of the first half of the first season, the team struggled a lot. But during the second half, their performance took a U-turn. While trying to avoid Relegation they eventually finished in 16th place.

Because of their poor performance during the first season, it was believed that the club would perform terribly in the second season. But that was not the case as the 2016-17 season was largely successful. Although they had to be in Relegation for about 3 weeks owing to their weak start, they picked themselves up eventually. They came out 9th place.

In June 2017, Chelsea permanently signed star loan player Nathan Ake for a club-record fee of about 20 million Euros. Although they had a slow start in 2017-18, yet again, they ran a good form through late December and January. Because of that they were able to avoid the Relegation zone. This also made Howie earn his second Premier League management of the year award.

Bournemouth went on to create a Premier League record by gaining 19 points from losing positions in the second half of the season. They eventually finished 12th place.

On Jefferson Lerma, in the 2018-19 season the club broke their transfer record again during the summer. Contrary to the previous seasons the club had a very strong start. They sat at the 6th place in their first 12 games. However, because of the multiple injuries sustained they weren’t able to keep up their forms. Thus they finished 14th place while they secured the 5th season in the Premier League games.

At the beginning of November, the team came 7th place due to a bright start in the 2019-20 season. But then as usual the continuous injury made the team drop again. This time they bagged a Relegation zone sentence in January. Even after the COVID-19 pandemic had affected the season, poor performances continued. The club was on the brink after losing to Manchester City and Southampton.

Due to results everywhere, the club’s relegation was still confirmed even after a 3-1 win against Everton on the final day. Howie eventually left the team based on mutual consent on August 1, 2020. It thereby ended his 8-year reign as a manager.

Violation and Punishment for Financial Fair Play

The season Bournemouth secured promotion in the Premier League, it violated the Football League’s Financial Fair Play Regulation. It was found guilty in 2016. The League ran a loss of 38. 3 million Euros in 2014-15 because the club’s overspend broke the maximum deviation. Before this, a loss of 10.3 million Euros had been incurred.

After being originally fined 7.6 million Euros by the Football League, the club subsequently negotiated a settlement. They had to pay 4.75 million Euros instead for breaching Financial Fair play rules. This was decided after a series of investigations and speculations.

    Return To The Championship [2020-2022]

Howie’s longtime assistant and former Bournemouth player, Jason Tindall was appointed manager on August 8. Manchester City signed in the previous manager for a reported fee of 41 million Euros on his exit from the club. However, the club won just one game out of all the 8 games played despite sitting second in December. Tindall was sacked on February 3rd 2021. The team fell to 6th place after the loss. Jonathan Woodgate who was the first team coach replaced him initially as a caretaker. The club entered playoffs in 6th position but lost to Brentford on aggregate in the semifinals. Scott Parker, former Fulham manager was appointed manager of the team ahead of a new season on June 28.

Return To The Premier League [2022-present]

FC Bournemouth secured promotion to the English Premier League (EPL) by defeating their promotion rivals. They won Nottingham Forest 1 goal to nil on the 3rd of May, 2022.

    AFC Bournemouth Stadium

    Dean Court

Their Stadium which is the Dean Court, is popularly known as The Vitality Stadium due to sponsorship purposes. It is located in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb in England and it’s the home ground of AFC Bournemouth.

    History

In the year 1910, Boscombe Football Club was given a piece of land by the town’s Cooper-Dean Family. This is why the grounds are being named after them. A gravel pit was situated on the grounds. Hence the playable pitch wasn’t built in time for the 1910-11 season. Therefore, the club played its matches at the adjacent Park, called “King’s Park”, until moving into Dean Court in the winter of 1910. However, facilities for the club weren’t still ready and to that effect, the changing room was at a nearby hotel. A 300-seat stand was included in the early developments on the grounds.

In the year 1923, the club was elected to Division Three South. This led to a name change of the club to Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic. On the 1st of September 1923, the first match was played between Swindon Town. It ended in a stalemate. The crowd capacity was at 7000. After this match, subsequent improvements were made to the grounds. Even a covered terrace was added in the year 1936.

O the 14th of April 1948, a club record attendance was set in a 1-0 defeat to QPR. Attendance was north of 25,000.  An overall attendance record of 28,799 was set on 2nd March 1957, in an FA Cup match against Manchester United. Afterwards, a roof was added to the western stand and more land was purchased behind the grounds. This was done with the intention of enlarging the stand and building a leisure centre. After falling short on cash, the project was abandoned in 1984. Whatever was built there was eventually demolished to pave way for houses to be built there. In the attendance department, the lowest record number of attendees was 1873 at a 2-2 draw with Lincoln City.

It was completely rebuilt in 2001. A lot of changes had been made, with the pitch being rotated 90 degrees from its original position. The ground moved away from the adjacent housing area. The work wasn’t finished in time for the start of the 2001-2002 season. Hence the first eight games were played at the Avenue Stadium in nearby Dorchester.

On the 10th of November in that season, at a match against Wrexham, the stadium gained its first sponsored name, “The Fitness First Stadium”. Rebuilding still took place in the autumn of 2005, when the stadium capacity had its capacity expanded to 9,600. Seats were placed on the underdeveloped south side of the stadium.

On the 24 of February 2004, the fastest EPL hat trick on Bournemouth grounds was scored by James Hafter .  In a sale- and- leaseback deal, the club eventually sold the stadium in December 2005.

A temporary south stand was built in 2010-2011 but was removed the following season after attendance fell. The Stadium was renamed the Seward Stadium in the summer of 2011 after the naming rights were sold to the Seward Motor Group. Upon entering into the administration, the grounds were renamed “The Goldsand Stadium” in a two-year deal. In the summer of 2013, following a promotion to the Championship, a 2,400-seat stand was built. It was named after club striker Ted MacDougall.

    Further redevelopment

Summer of 2014, Chairman, Jeff Mostyn revealed that the club was looking at the possibility of redeveloping the stadium. He said this was better than moving to another venue. The naming rights were changed once more in 2015 and it became known as “The Vitality Stadium”

In May 2016, Bournemouth made an announcement regarding the addition of new seats to its stadium in time for the season’s football. The decision to delay redevelopment was taken by the club following a meeting of its board. “Ongoing negotiations with the club’s Landlord” was to blame as to why no development was made.

In December 2016, the plan to find a new site due to ongoing ownership rights issues was announced. And in 2017, the club announced that it was looking to build a new stadium near the current site at King’s park.

    Storm Eunice Damage

In February 2022, the stadium was damaged by an unusually intense storm, called Storm Eunice. This caused an EFL Championship game against Nottingham Forrest scheduled for 18th February to be postponed.

    Other notable events that have taken place on the ground include;

    1. In 2013, England Ladies and U16 sides played games.
    2. It’s been used for music concerts including one in 206 which hosted the Legendary John Elton.

    Crystal Palace Stadium

In 1905, the Crystal Palace Company which owned the FA Cup Final venue situated inside the grounds of The Crystal Palace, wanted a professional club to play there and tap into the vast crowd potential of the area. Crystal Palace football club was formed by them to play at the stadium. In 1915, the club were forced to move by the Admiralty when the Palace and grounds were seized by the army during the First World War. Although other clubs had offered the use of their ground to Palace, the club preferred to remain as close as possible to their natural catchment. They moved to Herne Hill Velodrome temporarily. Croydon Common F.C. was dissolved in 1917 and Palace took over their old stadium located at the Nest, but they began acquisition of the land of their current home, Selhurst Park in 1919.

Archibald Leitch, a renowned stadium architect got the contract to draw up plans. They completed Selhurst Park in time for the 1924–25 season. In 1969, they built the Arthur Wait Stand and became an all-seater. Until then, the stadium has only seen lights improvement and routine maintenance. In the early 1980s, they built a Sainsbury’s supermarket, club offices and a club shop. That was the period of the Whitehorse Lane End’s renovation.

In 1990,  Arthur Wait Stand became an all-seater. However, in 1994, a fresh two-tier stand replaced the Holmesdale Terrace. In 1979, Selhurst Park’s record attendance was 51,482. Presently, the ground’s capacity is 26,309 after all renovations and safety requirements.

In 2011,they made proposals to move the club back to their original home at the Crystal Palace National Stadium. After the club gained promotion to the Premier League in 2013, there has been a renewed focus on rebuilding Selhurst Park into a 40,000 seater stadium. On the 19th of April 2018, the amendment plan got approval at a Croydon Council meeting for a new 13,500-seater Main Stand (extending the overall stadium capacity to 34,000).

    Crystal Palace Supporters

Crystal Palace have a fan base predominantly from the South London, Kent, and Surrey areas. Until the London Government Act 1963 saw Greater London contain Croydon, the Selhurst Park was within Surrey’s borders and their original home at the Crystal Palace was on the boundary with Kent. The Holmesdale Road Stand, in which the ultras group the Holmesdale die-hard fans which have been based since 2005 is where the club’s passionate support at home games comes from predominantly. At least, the fans have set up two other supporter groups.

n 2000, the original idea of Crystal Palace Supporters’ Trust is to enable fans to purchase the club. However, it is still in existence today. At the same time, the idea of the Palace Independent Supporters’ Association is to raise supporter concerns with the club.

Over the years, fans have produced various magazines (fanzines) for the club. 1987, was the launch year of Eagle eye. Also, it ran until 1994. Then, Palace Echo replaced it in 1995. Then, various contributor produced it and ran until 2007. In the 1990s, fans also published The Eastern Eagles, So Glad You’re Mine and One More Point. Five Year Plan, which still maintains an online presence today replaced One More Point. The BBS and Holmesdale.net are internet sites where supporters debate and are utilized by the club to communicate with the fans.

    More Info

Crystal Palace is a London club, so they compete with various other local clubs for the attention of supporters. They have a significantly large catchment area of 900,000. In 2010, new owners took over the club and they sought the fans’ opinion on future decisions. They club made a request for a design based on fans’ ideas from an internet forum when the selected new design did not gain acceptance. The club have solidified their ties with the local community in the hope of broadening its geographical and fan base. Through the Crystal Palace F.C. Foundation, they work with the local London Boroughs of Croydon, Bromley and Sutton to provide sports and educational programmes. In August 2009, The Foundation got awarded the Silver Standard Community Scheme by the Football league.

A number of notable celebrities also support the club.  Kevin Day and Jo Brand hosted an annual comedy night for Comic Relief and the Palace Academy. Also, fellow comedians Eddie Izzard and Mark Steel are also die-hard Palace fans. Actor Neil Morrissey developed Palace Ale, a beer on sale in the ground. While fellow actor Bill Nighy is patron of the Crystal Palace Children’s Charity (CPSC). Radio DJ David Jensen is chairman of the Crystal Palace Vice Presidents Club and acted as spokesman for the CPFC 2010 consortium during their takeover bid for the club.

Actor, writer and producer John Salthouse was on the books of Palace as a player from 1968 to 1970 under the name of John Lewis, and was also a mascot for the club as a child. He incorporated the club into his role as Tony in Abigail’s Party. The television presenter Susanna Reid revealed her love of Palace while taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, and visited Selhurst Park for inspiration.

Those In Charge Of Crystal Palace

The Crystal Palace Company created amateur and professional clubs. Sydney Bourne was the first chairman of the professional Crystal Palace club. After reviewing records of FA Cup Final tickets, Club secretary, Edmund Goodman found him. Goodman noticed his name as one that had bought several tickets every year, and so met with Bourne and found him very agreeable to the idea of the new club. He was the chairman by-election, at the club’s first-ever meeting by the board of directors. Also, he was in the position of chairman till his death in 1930.

Bourne’s death took along a series of short-term chairmanship appointments: Louis Bellatti (1930–35), R.S. Flew (1935), Carey Burnett (1935– 36), E.T. Truett (1936-39), before Percy Harper’s reign (1939–50). Local builder Arthur Wait established a consortium of seven other businessmen to purchase the club in 1949, and took over from Harper in 1950, initially rotating the chairmanship. In 1958, Wait became the permanent chairman until 1972 when Raymond Bloye took over.

Bloye presided until 26 January 1981, when property developer Ron Noades and his consortium took control of the club. Noades eventually sold the club to Mark Goldberg on 5 June 1998, becoming the second longest-serving Palace chairman behind Sydney Bourne. Although Noades was still the owner of Selhurst Park, he leased it to the club.

Goldberg’s tenure was unsuccessful and Palace entered administration in March 1999. Fans made a group they know as the Crystal Palace Supporters’ Trust. The reason was to gain control of the club, but millionaire and lifelong fan Simon Jordan negotiated a deal with creditors and the administrator, and a new company, CPFC 2000 took control. This company entered administration in January 2010 and presided until June of that year. Then, a consortium of four wealthy fans called CPFC 2010 took over.

    More Info On The Owners

With a 25% share of the company belonging to each of them, CPFC 2010 consisted of Steve Parish, Martin Long, Stephen Browett and Jeremy Hosking. In August 2010, the four successfully had a negotiation on a takeover with the administrator Brendan Guilfoyle from the P&A Partnership. Also, company creditors made an acceptance of a company voluntary arrangement. They also made an acquisition of Selhurst  Park by the consortium, from Lloyds Bank after a demonstration by fans. This put pressure on the bank to agree on terms.

American investors Josh Harris and David Blitzer signed a new deal with the club on  18th December 2015. The club stated that Steve Parish would continue as chairman alongside Harris and Blitzer as general partners in a new structure, and that Browett, Long and Hosking would also retain a substantial investment.

The company accounts later show that the ownership figures were: Steve Parish 18%, Steve Browett 5%, Jeremy Hosking 5% and Martin Long 2.5% with the remainder being in possession of Palace Holdco LP (a limited partnership registered in Delaware) 67.5% and Palace Parallel LLC (a company also registered in Delaware) 1.5%. Both Palace Holdco and Palace Parallel have 180 preference shares each. Steve Parish confirmed that each of Harris and Blitzer had an 18% share to match his own, but the exact ownership of the club is unknown as Delaware companies do not reveal their owner.

John Textor, another American investor, joined as a fourth partner with an investment of £87.5 million for 40% ownership of the club in August 2021.

Luckily, Inter-Academy has made it easier for any youngster wishing to succeed and excel in football or any sports for that matter by giving unlimited access to the club’s knowledge, innovation, and a chance to get the best training exercise. The Academy does this because its major aim is to create talented players that can deliver both on the field and out of it. Unlike most Academies, they have a mantra; build a man first before a Champion. This is because they are not just interested in your journey as an athlete but your life in general.

Inter Millan’s Youth Academy and Soccer School

Inter Millan through the Inter-Academy coaches provides two kinds of academic experience. They have a Lon Term approach which covers all academic programs and a Short Term approach which is mostly about the Camping and Experience.

We will now go on to look at each extensively.

    Inter Millan Academy

As stated earlier, Inter-Academy is just an extension of Inter Millan’s Youth Academy. All academic activities follow the laid down rules by Inter Corporate Policy for Children majorly to protect each child. The club is well known because of the effort its coaches put in to ensure that each player becomes what they hope to become; Professional Players and also their many wins on the field.

    Program detail:

The major reason why the Inter-Academy was formed is to specifically train youngsters irrespective of their gender as long as they are from 3 – to 17 years old. They create high standards for the players to meet. The Academy also has a Pre School Program: Early Learning.

After careful consideration and observation, the Youth Academy in Italy sends out a team of dedicated and hardworking coaches to the Inter-Academy. The Inter-Academy Staff manages all the programs in the academy. Inter Academy partners are also not left behind in all of these benefits as the Academy offers them a unique cutting edge experience through technical, digital, and marketing support.

    Inter Millan Camps

The Academy offers a chance to meet with the coaches one on one for about a week. All youth players from ages 6 to 17 get an equal shot at the Inter-Academy Camp. The Club’s selected Inter-Academy Coaches are in charge of all the sessions in the camp. All assistant coaches also get a copy of the syllabus before the start of any activity.

    Inter Millan Experience

Just like the Camp, Inter Millan Experience is also one week program for youth players from ages 8 – to 17 who want to live a Nerazzurri Experience while receiving high standard specific training in the facilities in Millan. There is usually a tour of the facility, a Matchday experience, and a lot more exciting activities.

    Inter Millan Early Learning Program

This program was formed for children. By paying special attention to their Cognitive-kinetic development, children can now play sports, engage in Soccer School activities, and learn with excellent results. The program provides an excellent foundation by reducing learning time in other to develop and nurture new upcoming talent. The Physical Educators for this program also o through a 3-year process before they can develop any child.

The Inter-Academy found a way to make learning all fun and games involving both parents and children to show them that games can also be an efficient learning tool. This method also develops the kid’s coordinative skills, social skills, and cognitive learning.

The Inter-Academy provides diet tips to the Early Learning Program as the nutrition habits of the 3 – 5-year-olds begin to develop.

    Stadium

The Stadium was named after Inter Millan’s former player, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. However, it is commonly known as San Siro which is the district where it is located. The stadium is made up of 75,923 seats.

Piero Pirelli Millan’s then Chairman personally funded the construction and has been the home of Millan since 1926.

After 13 and half months, the building was finally complete and was owned by a club until 1935 when it was sold to the city. It took about 120 workers to construct the stadium. Inter was eventually accepted as a joint tenant in 1947.

The first game played at the stadium was a friendly match on 19 September 1926 between Inter and Millan in which Inter won by 3 goals. That same day, Millan played its first league game against Sampierdarenese and also lost. The stadium was renovated in preparation for the 1990 FIFA World Cup and its 35,000 seat capacity was increased to 85,700 all covered with a polycarbonate roof. Its capacity was however reduced to 80,018 in 2008 to meet the new standards that were set by UEFA.

    Inter Millan FC

Inter Millan or Internazionale Milano as known to the Italians is a Millan-based Italian Football club in Lombardy. Since its debut in 1909, Inter is the only Italian club that has competed in the top flight of Italian Football. The club was founded in the year 1908 and has since then won 33 domestic trophies; 19 league titles, 8 Coppa Italia, and 6 Supercoppa Italiana. It is also important to note that the club won its first championship in 1910 after the separation of Millan Cricket and Football Club which is now known as AC Millan.

They have since then won the championship title 3 times; two consecutive years, 1964 and 1965, and then 2010. The club had also won 5 successive leagues from 2006 to 2010 which was a record at the time. In the same year, Inter won Coppa Italia and Scudetto and this made them record breakers as this has never been done before in the history of Italian Football. The club has also gone ahead to win 3 UEFA Cups, 2 Intercontinental Cups, and 1 FIFA World Cup.

Inter has two rivals; AC Millan and Juventus. They contest the Derby d’Italia with the latter and Derby Della Madonnina with the former. They however share the San Siro stadium with AC Millan and this is where their home games are played. The rivalry with AC Millan is the most widely followed and anticipated derbies in the history of Football. Inter had the highest home game attendance in Italy in 2019 and was the 6th highest in Europe. It is the most valuable Italian Football club and is one of the highest in the world too.

    History of Inter Millan

    The Early Years (1908 – 1960)

Founded in 1908 0n the 9th of March, it was known as Football Club Internazionale after the separation of the Millan Cricket and football club. The founding members of the club wanted a club that would accept not just Italian players but also players from other countries so they gave it that name. Virgilio Fossati who was killed in battle in the Italian Army during World War I 1 led the club to their first-ever Championship win in 1910 as the coach. They didn’t win another till 10 years later. Sometime in 1922, Inter was almost displaced to the Second Division but after winning two playoffs, they managed to remain at the top.

The club was renamed Societa Sportiva Ambrosiana after it was forced to merge with the Unione Sportiva Milanese during the Fascist era.

The club’s jersey was inspired by the city’s flag and coat of arms which was a White Jersey with a Red cross inscribed on it. However, when Oreste Simonotti became the Chairman, he brought back the normal Black and Blue Jersey and also changed the club’s name to Associazione Sportiva Ambrosiana. Because supporters continued to call it Inter, the new Chairman in 1931, Pozzani gave in to pressure and renamed the club Associazione Sportiva Ambrosiana-Inter.

Giuseppe Meazza led the club to its first Italian Cup win in 1938-39. He also led the team to a 5th Championship in 1940 while injured and at the end of World War II, the club won its 6th and 7th Championship in 1953 and 1954 respectively. They also regained their original name.

    Grande Inter (1960-1967)

Inter had a new manager in 1960, Helenio Herrera who joined from Barcelona. He brought his award-winning midfielder Luiz Suarez with him. Helen’s mission was to make Inter the greatest team in Europe with the help of the European Footballer of the year, Suarez. He made the flexibility for counterattacks greater by amending a 5-3-2 tactic known as the “verrou” (door bolt). Karl Rappan who was an Australian Coach invented the Catenaccio system. Rappan’s system was played with Four fixed defenders who play a strict man-to-man marking system and a playmaker in the middle of the field who played together with two midfield wings. This system was modified by Herrera who added a fifth defender and a sweeper or libero behind the two center backs. A sweeper is a free man and he deals with any attacker that goes through the two center backs.  The first, second, and third seasons in the Seria A had Inter finishing in the Third, Second, and First place respectively. This was followed by a consecutive European Cup Victory. All of these wins gave Herrera the title “il Mao” (The Wizard).

Herrera’s team was made up of: The attacking fullbacks Tarcisio Burgnich and Giacinto Facchetti; The Sweeper, Armando Picchi; The playmaker, Suarez; The winger, Jair; The left midfielder, Mario Corso and The inside-right, Sandro Mazzola.

Inter beat Borussia Dortmund and Partizan in Semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively in 1964 thereby making it into the finals where they met Real Madrid a team that has reached 7 out of 9 finals to date. The match ended in a 3-1 score with Mazzola scoring two goals for the team. The team also won the Intercontinental Cup against Independiente. About a year later, two-time winner Benfica was defeated in a final match held at home after a goal from Jair. In the same year, they defeated Independiente again in the Intercontinental Cup.

Inter lost the European Cup final to Celtic in 1967 following Suarez’s injury and Jair’s leaving. In that same year, the club changed its name to Football Club Internazionale Milano.

    Subsequent Achievement (1967-1991)

In the 1960s when Inter was still thriving, it won its Eleventh League title in 1971 and the 12th in 1980. In the final of the European club, Johan Cruyff’s Ajax scored two goals against Inter thereby defeating them for the first time in 5 years. Between 1977 and 1982, Inter added another 2 Coppa to its Italian tally.

In 1989, Inter again coped Seria A Championship led by German Duo Andreas Brehme and Lothar Matthaus; and Argentine Ramon Diaz. Although they couldn’t retain their position as champions even after adding fellow German Jurgen Klinsman, they won their first Supercoppa Italiana at the end of the season.

    Mixed Fortunes (1991-2004)

The 1990s wasn’t a great period for Inter because while their rivals, Ac Millan and Juventus were thriving and making numbers, there were going around in circles, maintaining the same average positions in their domestic leagues. In the 1993-34 season, they had their very worse moment as they ended the season just one point away from being relegated. They still won three UEFA cups in 1991, 1994, and 1998.

After Massimo Moratti took over from Ernest Pellegrini in 1995, Inter broke the world record transfer fee twice. The deals were 19.5 million Euros for Ronaldo from Barcelona in 1977 and 31 million Euros for Christian Vieri from Lazio in 1979. In the history of Inter Football club, the only time they didn’t win a Seria A Championship was in the 1990s. the inter fans didn’t know who to blame for the consistent bad luck befalling the club and this caused some serious issues between them and the chairman, managers, coaches, and even some individual players.

Eventually, the fans had someone to channel their anger towards after Moratti sacked Luigi Simoni who was widely loved by all, and sundry after a few games into the 1998-99 season. Simoni had just received the manager of the year award a day before he was unjustly relieved of his duties as coach. Inter didn’t qualify for any European competition that season for the first time in about 10 years. They eventually finished 8th place.

Marcello Lippi, former Juventus manager was appointed the following year by Moratti. He also signed in new players like Angelo Peruzzi and Laurent Blanc. He also brought in Vieri and Vladimir Jugovic who were former Juventus players. For the first time since 1989, the team reached the Coppa Italia final but was defeated by Lazio.

It seemed like the bad luck affecting Inter continued the following season as they were beaten yet again by Lazio in the 2000 Supercoppa Italiana match despite initially taking the lead through Robbie Keane a new sign-in.

They also didn’t make it past the preliminary stage in the Championship league.

After Inter’s first-ever defeat in Seria A to Reggina, Lippi was sacked. His replacement, Marco Tardelli was no better as he is only remembered as the only manager that was woefully beaten in the derby against Millan.

Some members of the Inter family suffered like Vieri and Fabio Cannavaro who had their restaurants vandalized after they lost to Rossoneri.

Inter eventually made it into the UEFA semi-finals in 2002 and was also 45 minutes away from being through to the finals. All they had to do was maintain the one-goal lead they had over Lazio. But that didn’t happen as Lazio equalized during a first-half injury and scored 2 more goals in the second half. Their win saw Juventus eventually win the Championships. Inter finished as league runner up the following season and faced Millan in the Champions League semi-final but lost on the away goal rule.

    Changes In ownership (2011-2019)

A Chinese consortium led by Kenneth Huang declared interest to buy a minority interest in the club from Moratti and this was announced on 1st August 2012. On the same day, it was announced that an agreement for a new stadium has been reached between Inter and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited. However, the Chinese deal didn’t go through.

Inter failed to qualify for any European competition and came 9th in Seria A in the 2012-13 season making it the worse season recently.

Walter Mazzarri who has appointed after his tenure at Napoli eventually the team to fifth in Seria A and got them qualified for the 2014-15 UEFA Europa League.

An agreement to acquire 70% shares from Internazionale Holding S.r.l was reached and signed by an Indonesian consortium led by Erick Thohir, Handy Soetedjo, and Rosan Roeslani. While Moratti’s Internazionale Holding S.r.l still retained 29.5% of the shares of the club, the shares of inter were now owned by a chain of holding companies. These companies include; Sports Capital S.p.An of Italy which owns 70%, International Sports Capital HK Limited, and Asian Sports Ventures HK Limited of Hong Kong. Asian Sports Ventures HK Limited itself another intermediate holding company, was owned by Nusantara Sports Ventures HK Limited which had a 60% stake and is owned by Thohir, Alke Sports Investment HK Limited which had a 20% stake, and Aksis Sports Capital HK Limited also having 20% stake.

Thohir who co-owned a couple of leagues announced that Inter and one of the leagues he co-owned, D.C United had formed a strategic partnership. The club began to reduce its financial structure during Thohir’s tenure, yet it violated the UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations in 2015. The club was fined for this and had their squad reduced in the UEFA competitions. Robert Mancini returned as manager and Inter finished 8th. The 2015-16 season ended with Inter coming forth but they didn’t make it to the Champions League.

0n 6th June 2016, the majority of the stake was held by Thohir’s consortium International Sports Capital S.p.A and the remaining shares from Moratti’s family were acquired by Suning Holdings Group. Rumor had it that the total investment from Suning was 270 million Euro. After the deal was approved, Suning Holding Group acquired a 68.55% stake in the club.

The first season of new ownership surely did not begin as expected as the club started with poor performance in the pre-season friendlies. Head Coach Roberto Mancini left the club upon mutual consent having disagreed with the club’s direction. This happened on 8th August 2016 and he was replaced by Frank de Boer who was sacked on 1 November 2016 after leading the club to a 4W-2D-5L record in11 Seria A games as head coach. His successor, Stefano Pioli didn’t do any better either. He and the club parted ways when it was clear they won’t be in the top 3 that season too after 6 consecutive seasons of being below that.

Former Roma coach Luciano Spalleti was appointed on a2 year contract in 2017 and after 11 months of his reign, the club got a spot in the UEFA Champions League after 6 consecutive years. Because of this success, Spalleti’s contract was extended to 2021.

A new president was appointed in 2018 and 2019, the club announced that an agreement to acquire International Sports Capital HK Limited’s 31.05% shares in Inter had been reached by LionRock Capital from Hong Kong as they intend to be the club’s new majority shareholder.

Spalletti was sacked after the 2018-19 Seria A season despite making Inter come forth.

    Recent History (2019-present)

Former Juventus player and Italian manager, Antonio Conte signed a 3-year deal with Inter on 31 May 2019. That season, Inter was runner-up after defeating Atlanta in the Seria A league. They also reached the finals of the UEFA Europa League but lost to Sevilla.

On May 2nd, 2021 Atlanta drew against Sassuolo thereby making Inter Champions for the first time in 11 years and ending Juventus’s run of 9 consecutive titles. After a disagreement with the board based on player transfers, Conte left the club on 26 May 2021. Simon Inzaghi was appointed as Conte’s replacement in June 2021.

    This is a list of happenings that took place since his appointment;

    • June 22, 2021- Carlo Cottarelli launched the shareholding of the fans with the InterSpac project.
    • July 6, 2021- Achraf Hakimi was sold to PSG for 68 million euros.
    • August 8, 2021- Romelu Lukaku was sold to Chelsea for 115 million Euros (this is the most expensive football transfer by an Italian Football club ever)
    • August 10, 2021- Inter confirmed the termination of Radja Nainggolan’s contract
    • August 12, 2021- Inter Millan and PSV reached an agreement for the transfer of Denzel Dumfries. The deal closed for 12.5 million Euros.
    • August 13, 2021- Inter confirms the acquisition of Edin Dzeko who was sold by Roma. He signed a contract till June 30, 2023, and will be receiving a salary of 6 million-plus yearly.

    Supporters and Rivalries

According to research in August 2007 by Italian Newspaper La Repubblica, inter is one of the most supported clubs in Italy. Before the First World War, Inter fans were majorly Middle-class citizens while Millan fans were typically working-class citizens. During Moratti’s ownership, Inter fans were viewed in a moderate left-political eye and during Silvio’s rein, Milan fans were viewed in a moderate right-political eye. These divisions today are anachronistic.

Boys san is the traditional ultra-group of inter. As the oldest ultra scene, they hold a significant place in history founded in 1969. One group of the ultras known as irreducible are right to win and this group has good relationships with the Lazio ultras. Asides from the main group of Boys San is known as Apolitical, there are 5 more significant groups. They are; Viking (apolitical), Irriducibili (right-wing), ultras (apolitical), Brianza Alcoolica (apolitical) and imbastisci (left-wing).

The most vocal fans of the club usually gather in the Curve Nord or North curve of the San Siro. Because of this tradition, people now refer to the club’s most die-hard supporters who wave flags and scream at the top of their voices to support their team as Curve Nord.

As noted previously, Inter has two rivals; AC Millan with whom they compete in the Derby Della Madonnina ever since their break up in1908. The derby was named after the statue at the top of the Milan Cathedral which is the city’s main attraction. It is called Blessed Virgin Mary.

The match is almost always friendly or sometimes offensive with several banners raised before the match. Flares used to be allowed until it injured a flare thrown by an Inter supporter injured the Millan keeper on his shoulder.

The other rival is Juventus with whom they compete in the Derby d’ Italia. Before Juventus’s relegation, the two clubs were the only Italian clubs that has never played below Seria A. Sometime in the 2000s, Inter was also rivals with Roma who were runner ups to Inter in all but one of Inter’s 5 winning seasons between 2005-06 and 2009-10. They have also contested 5 Coppa Italia finals and 4 Supercoppa Italiana finals since 2006. They are also rivals with other clubs like Atlanta and Napoli.

    FAQs

What is the recruitment routine at Fulham Football Academy?

The work of recruitment begins with the Academy scouts. When they watch your games and find the desirable potential in you, they approach your trainer or coach. After that, they take you to the Academy’s recruitment chamber.

Are open trials predominant in the club? If yes, what is the possibility of getting one?

Yes, the club’s academy runs an open trial. They do this in a random way. So, access the club’s official online page to get updates. Also, if you wish to get a trial, you can email the club’s academy. Ensure that you don’t miss the essential materials you need to present. The academy will also need your personal details. In addition, attach any recommendation or reference letter to the email. Note, if you don’t have an EU passport or ‘leave to remain’ document, you may not get a trial.

What is the possibility of knowing an observing scout?

Similarly to the question of how to join Fulham FC Academy, how do we know that a scout is observing?. The only possibility of you knowing, is if we inform your school or local club of our visit. Asides from that, the possibility is slim. However, we don’t feel it’s ideal to inform the players of our arrival. This is because it will either influence their playing style negatively or positively. So, we always choose to appear neutral and in some cases, disguise. Upon spotting a prospective player, we head over to the coach or manager for further discussion.

During scouting, what are the distinguishing factors you seek?

When it comes to the qualities we lookout in a young player, there are quite a number of them. But the predominant one is “Talent”. All other qualities like endurance, pace, strength, etc are secondary. Similarly, we carry out a thorough assessment of the person. This assessment will be based on physical, tactical, and psychological features among others. After that, we consider age and maturity. This includes how well the player can adapt to the football Academy. At this point, the scouts may now decide to make a review to determine who has better performance; the new ones or those already in the Academy.

In a situation where one hasn’t gotten a trial, what does one do?

One needs to keep trying and not back down. A lot of young players seek to join the Football Academy. The tussle for the spot is high. So, one has to show determination and keep reaching out to club academies. Also, scaling your local league gives you an upper hand. It places you in a position where your chances of getting a trial are high. Above all, let it be that you are playing for the passion of football and not for the recognition. This way, much pressure won’t be on you. Before thinking of how to join Fulham FC Academy, you have to build yourself in all ramifications.

Please email your information to the club’s email or contact them through the Fulham Academy website @http://www.fulhamfc.com/the-teams/academy.

    Overview Of Fulham Football Club

1879 is the discovery year of the club. Its native land is Fulham, London. Recently, the Fulham Football Club got into the premier league. Currently, they are the oldest active professional club in London.

It is a notable achievement that for over 27 seasons, the club hasn’t dropped from the English top division. In addition, the club has experienced the leadership of Mohammed Al-Fayed. But, in the 1970s, the club had an impressive season. It was at that period that it lost the FA cup final to West ham. Then, in 2010 where they lost to Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Europa League Final.

In West London, Fulham faces a couple of other neighbouring clubs for supremacy. Some of them are Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Brentford. The club is currently using a white shirt and black shorts as their official kit.

    History Of The Club

The Club’s 2001–2007 Premier League Season.

The club finished in 13th place on returning to the premier league. It faced some standing restrictions. This served as a motivation for other clubs to put seats in their stands. Meanwhile, it got to a period where Fulham had to share grounds with QPR. This was at Loftus ground. The reason was due to the renovation of the Craven cottage. Speculations came up as the club owner sold out some rights of the club.

Due to the poor season of Fulham, the manager could not sign a contract extension. A new manager, Chris Coleman, took charge of the club for the remaining season. They were able to escape relegation. Consequently, it was the issue of finance that led to the challenges at the club. This even led to a court case against the former manager for alleged overpayment to players. However, the Fulham club lost the case.

The club saw an impressive season performance under the new manager, Coleman. They kept moving up the table, season by season. Meanwhile, a West London derby saw them trail against Chelsea in a 1-0 win. However, the coach lost his job in the 2006-07 season and Lawrie Sanchez replaced him. Although the first five games weren’t very impressive, the club appointed him the manager of the club.

The Hodgson’s Effect In The 2007–2010 Season

As much as the club supported the new coach financially, he could not perform well. The club had to terminate its contract. Then, in December 2007, the club appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager.

Similarly, he didn’t have a good start. It was after a month that he got a win against Aston Villa. Consequently, Hodgson kept seeking a better performance but none was forthcoming. This really affected him as the chances of Fulham surviving relegation were slim. But, he didn’t lose hope. Their hope came to life after a dramatic victory over Manchester City. Consequently, this victory was an assurance of escaping relegation. Also, a victory against Birmingham City at Craven Cottage propelled them further.

Hodgson ensured that they sealed their place in the premier league. Another incident took place which made Fulham lose their UEFA Cup spot. This was due to a Fair play rule. But in the 2008-09 season, they secured their UEFA Europa League spot by finishing seventh on the premier league table. The 2009-10 season was impressive for the club. They trialled across the FA Cup but dropped out in the quarterfinals. Also, in the Europa League, they got to the finals but were defeated by Atletico Madrid.

The club significantly won over other top-flight clubs. As a result, the manager Roy Hodgson got the honour of LMA Manager Of the year. The manager took on a new course by moving to Liverpool by the end of the season.

    The 2010–2013 Season.

The club brought a new manager, Mark Hughes at the beginning of the season. The manager is well experienced in the managerial course. However, he started off well by winning a couple of matches. But, he didn’t last long in the club as he left 11 months later. Meanwhile, this didn’t stop the club from having an impressive season.

Subsequently, other managers came forth. Martin Jol succeeded the outgoing manager. He began on a good note by winning matches. As a result, they performed well in the Europa League group stage. But, they didn’t proceed further as they were knocked out.

The 2011-12 season was filled with ups and downs. The club won some games while they lost some. Also, they signed some players like Bobby Zamora and Pavel Pogrebnyak. These players excelled in their various positions. They scored a lot of goals during their time. Most importantly, they bagged hattricks and braces.

A situation occurred where the Fulham team needed a win against Sunderland. Winning that game will see them breaking a record of the largest point in a season. But, they couldn’t achieve this. Even the 2012-13 season didn’t start well. But with time, they started improving. They were 12th on the premier league table by the end of the season.

    Rivalry With Any Other Clubs

Consequently, Chelsea is Fulham’s biggest rival. As both are in the premier league, they will definitely meet often. In addition, their stadiums are 1.8 miles apart. So, travelling for matches won’t be an issue. In the same vein, the Fulham fans consider Queen Park Rangers as their second rival. However, Fulham has defeated QPR more in their encounters. Furthermore, Brentford is on their list of rivals. In their encounter, Fulham won the Brentford side. This was in the Championship playoff final. On the other hand, Crystal Palace is among their rival but not a major rival. Fulham fans also consider Gillingham as their rival. This is because of an unhealthy competition which led to a fan’s death.

Those In Support Of the Club

The support from fans hasn’t been stable. This is due to the unstable performance of the club. Every club needs the support of its fans to scale through. Also, the Fulham fans have been interactive and supportive of the club. They consistently engage in the club’s social media handle. With that, the club grows in popularity.

    The Fulham Stadium

    Craven Cottage

The Craven Cottage is the official home of the Fulham football club. It was established in 1896. Also, it has a capacity of 19,359. The club played a couple of matches with Millwall. A total of 49,335 people came to watch the match. United States, Australia, Ireland, and Canada men’s national football teams have made use of the stadium. It was and was formerly the home ground for rugby league club Fulham RLFC.

    The Stage Before Fulham Establishment

William Craven is the main builder of the main Cottage in 1780. At that point, it hasn’t developed fully. It was still covered with woods. Subsequently, fire engulfed the cottage. The club had to move to another land to establish themselves.

Edward lived in the Cottage. Around 12 other lands were in their possession. As a result, it showed that they had fewer lands than QPR.

    The Dynamics Of The Stadium

A couple of matches were played in the stadium. Examples of them are the England v Wales match and the England v Australia rugby match. A plan to merge Arsenal with Fulham arose. Henry Norris and William Hall were in charge of this plan. This was because Fulham couldn’t advance to the top divine of English Football. But this didn’t go through.

Another plan that didn’t pull through is the redevelopment of the stadium. They wanted to erect an 80,000 capacity stadium. But the Great Depression obstructed it.

The spectators were consistent in viewing Fulham’s matches. The Fulham v Millwall witnessed the highest number of spectators. Currently, the Craven Cottage now has a full seats around the stadium. Consequently, the stadium has hosted an Olympic game too.

    Achievable Plans Of The Club

After a period of time, the club proceeded with the reconstruction of the stadium. The reconstruction led to an increase in the seating capacity of the stadium. According to the club, they had a goal to make the club the “Manchester United of the south”. This was due to the expensive nature of the project. However, some projects are uncompleted till now. Other proposals like bridging to span the Thames was put out. This is for the development of the Riverside stand and museum. On the other hand, they did lots of other renovations in the stadium.

    Background Of Newcastle

    1881–1903: History and Formation

On 3 March 1877 at Elswick Rugby Club, the first recorded football game in Tyneside was played. Newcastle’s first football club, Tyne Association, was formed later that year. In November 1881, a football club was formed by the Stanley Cricket Club of Byker and was later renamed Newcastle East End F.C in October 1882, to avoid confusion with the cricket club in Stanley, County Durham. Rosewood F.C. of Byker merged with Newcastle East End a short time later. In 1886, Newcastle East End moved from Byker to Heaton.

In August 1882, Newcastle West End F.C. formed from West End Cricket Club, and in May 1886, the club moved into St James’ Park. The two clubs became rivals in the Northern League. In 1889, Newcastle East End became a professional team, before becoming a limited company the following March. However,  Newcastle West End struggled financially and approached East End with an offer to buy. Newcastle West End was eventually dissolved, and a number of its players and backroom staff joined Newcastle East End, effectively merging the two clubs. In May 1892, Newcastle East End took over the lease on St James’ Park.

The club developed speedily as it was the only senior club in the city for fans to support. They were invited to play in their new Second Division despite being refused entry to the Football League’s First Division during the 1892–93 season.  However, with no big names playing in the Second Division, they refused the offer and remained in the Northern League. They stated; that “gates would not meet the heavy expenses incurred for traveling”.  Newcastle East End decided to adopt a new name in recognition of the merger in an attempt to draw larger crowds. They got the names; Newcastle F.C, Newcastle Rangers, Newcastle City, and the City of Newcastle, from suggestions.

    More Info

On 9 December 1892, to signify the unification of the two teams, Newcastle United was chosen. On 22 December, the name change was accepted by the Football Association, but the club was not legally constituted as Newcastle United Football Club Co. Ltd. until 6 September 1895. Newcastle United was once again refused entry to the First Division at the beginning of the 1893–94 season. However, they joined the Second Division, along with Liverpool and Woolwich Arsenal. Their first competitive match was against Woolwich Arsenal. It ended in a 2-2 draw in September of the same year.

The unified club published a statement saying They don’t need to cater to the Newcastle United public as far as professional football is concerned. This was a result of low turn-ups. In 1895–96, there was an improvement in the numbers. The match against Bury saw over 14,000 fans in attendance. Frank Watt became secretary of the club that season, and he was instrumental in the promotion to the First Division for the 1898–99 season. However, they finished their first season in 13th place losing their first game 4–2 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The club’s background will help you know how to join Newcastle United Academy.

    Newcastle Stadium

The home of Newcastle United is St James’ Park. It is the oldest and largest football stadium in North East England. Also, it is the sixth-largest football stadium in the United Kingdom. It has hosted 10 international football matches at the senior level, the first in 1901 and recently in 2005. It hosted games for both the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

As early as 1880, they played games at the ground owned by Newcastle Rangers, before becoming the home of Newcastle West End F.C  in 1886. Newcastle East End F.C .later bought the lease in 1892 before they changed their name to Newcastle United. In the 20th century, the ground’s capacity was 30,000 before the renovation between 1900 and 1905. As a result, it was the biggest stadium in England during the period with a 60,000 capacity.

Despite various plans of development, the ground barely developed for most of the 20th century. The Milburn Stand replaced the old West Stand. Also, the Sir John Hall Stand replaced the Leazes End in 1987 and 1993 respectively. They renovated the rest of the ground, making the ground a 37,000-capacity all-seater stadium. Between 1998 and 2000, they added double tiers to the Milburn. Also, they did the same to Sir John Hall stands to bring the venue up to its current capacity of 52,354. Due to protests, they couldn’t complete the plan to build a new 90,000-seater stadium in Leazes park, just behind St James’ with Newcastle Falcons taking over St James’ Park.

Presently, St James’ Park seats 52,354 people. The club owner Mike Ashley considered taking the roof off The Gallowgate end and adding another 6,000 seats, taking the total capacity to 58,420. However, only on the condition that the team manages to finish in the top six places of the Premier League.

    More Info

In October 2009, Ashley announced that he planned to lease the name of the ground in a bid to increase revenue.  In November, they renamed the stadium sportsdirect.com @ St James’ Park Stadium. This name lasted till November 2011. Although, they were to use it till the end of the 2009–10 season.  They renamed the stadium the Sports Direct Arena. This was to showcase the sponsorship capabilities of the stadium on 10 November 2011. The company, owned by Ashley, was not paying anything for the deal. On 9 October 2012, they restored the St James’ Park name when payday loan company Wonga.com became the club’s main commercial sponsor. As a result, they also acquired the stadium’s naming rights.

St James Metro station serves the stadium on the Tyne and Wear Metro since 1982. They made use of Black and white colors, and pictures of the club’s players to decorate the station.

The club opened its current training ground in July 2003. Also, the Newcastle Falcons rugby team made use of it. It is located at Darsley Park, which is north of the city at Benton.

    Newcastle United FC Managerial history

On 6 September 1895, the club stood as a private limited company, by shares under the McKeag, Westwood, and Seymour family ownership. The club operated in this manner for much of the 20th century until  John Hall bought 72.9% of the club for £3 million in 1991, and floated the club on the stock exchange as a public limited company in April 1991.

The majority of holdings went to his business partner Freddy Shepherd and he sold less than half of the shares to the Hall family. Shepherd replaced Hall later that year. But his son Douglas still represented his family on the board. Media group,  NTL had considered full ownership of the club after buying a 6.3% stake in the club for £10 million, In December 1998. This came up eventually when the competition commission expressed concerns about media companies, owning football clubs.

In 2007, Mike Ashley purchased a 41% share in the club which was the combined stakes of both Douglas and John Hall, to buy the rest, through St James Holdings. He made Chris Mort chairman immediately and by 29 June 2007, he was in control of 93.19% of the club. On 11 July 2007, he amassed 95% stakes forcing the remaining shareholders to sell their shares.

Ashley announced intentions to sell the club on three occasions, since acquiring the club. Firstly, on 14 September 2008  after fans protested over the resignation of Kevin Keegan, Ashley stated, “I have listened to you. You want me out. That is what I am now trying to do.”

Although, on 28 December 2008 after failing to find a buyer, he took it off the market. On 31 May 2009, Ashley reportedly attempted to sell the club again. Also, on 8 June 2009, he put an asking price of £100 million on the club and they were off the market again by the end of August 2009. On 16 October 2017, the club reported announcing that it was for sale again and wanted to close the deal by Christmas 2017.

    Takeover by the Saudis

A consortium consisting of Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media, was reportedly finalizing an offer to buy Newcastle United in April 2020. They brought up the issue of criticism such as arguments. Consider it sport washing of the country’s human rights record as well as ongoing piracy of sports broadcasts in the region. This was concerning the proposed sale.

They asked the government to review parts of the deal by two conservative MPs in May 2020.  Karl McCartney requested the blockage of the sale. Then, Giles Watling called upon the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport to hold an oral evidence session. This was concerning sports piracy in Saudi Arabia.

The Guardian reported in May 2020 that the Premier League had obtained a report from the World Trade Organization (published publicly the following month), containing evidence that Saudi nationals had backed beoutQ – a pirate broadcaster carrying the beIN Sports networks in the region since the Qatar diplomatic crisis. A report on The Guardian in June 2020 through the hint by Richard Masters that a possible takeover of Newcastle United. He appeared in front of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport. However, given the country’s record on piracy and human rights, the MPs warned it would be “humiliating” to allow a Saudi Arabian consortium to take charge.

Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban beIN Sports broadcast from operating in their region had further complicated the takeover of Newcastle United as reported by The Guardian in July 2020. Saudi Arabia withdrew interest from the Newcastle deal, stating “with a deep appreciation for the Newcastle community and the significance of its football club, we have decided to withdraw our interest in acquiring Newcastle United Football Club” on 30 July 2020.

    “The Prolonged Process”

The “prolonged process” was a major factor in them pulling out. The withdrawal Of the deal brought widespread criticism from Newcastle fans, with Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah accusing the Premier League of treating fans of the club with “contempt” and subsequently wrote to Masters for an explanation.

Newcastle United released a statement claiming that the Premier League had officially rejected the takeover by the consortium and accused Masters and the Premier League board of “[not] acting appropriately about [the takeover]”, while stating that the club would be considering any relevant legal action on 9 September 2020. The

Premier League expressed “surprise” and “disappointment” at Newcastle’s statement in a press release the next day.

The Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media officially announced the acquisition of Newcastle United on 7 October 2021. Let’s see drive more on the topic “How to join Newcastle United Academy”.

    Fiorentina ACF

ACF Fiorentina ([fjorentina]) is an Italian professional football club located in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. A merger formed the first team in August 1926, and the current club was re-established in August 2002 after insolvency. Fiorentina has spent the bulk of its establishment at the highest level of Italian soccer; just four clubs have participated in more Serie A seasons.

Fiorentina has two Italian titles, one in 1955–56 and the other in 1968–69, as well as six Coppa Italia medals and one Supercoppa Italiana. Fiorentina won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1960–61 and failed in the finale the following year. They came second in the 1956–57 European Cup, losing to Real Madrid, and nearly won the 1989–90 UEFA Cup, missing the opening leg in Turin and tying the second in Avellino.

Fiorentina is one of 15 European clubs to have been in the finals of all three main continental contests. The Champions League (1956–1957, the first Italian group to do so), the UEFA Cup Champions (1960–1961 and 1961– 1962), and the UEFA Cup (1989–1990).

The club has competed in the Stadio Artemio Franchi, which has a seating of 43,147, since 1931. The stadium has gone under multiple names and has had numerous reconstructions over the years. Viola is the nickname given to Fiorentina because of their striking purple colors.

    Fiorentina’s History

Calcio Associazione Fiorentina was created in the autumn of 1926 by Luigi Ridolfi, a local nobleman and follower of the National Fascist Party, who merged two previous Florentine clubs, CS Firenze and PG Libertas. The goal of the union was to create a powerful club that could compete with the more dominant Italian Football Championship teams.

time from the northwestern part of Italy Calcio’s cultural renaissance and restoration were also important.

Fiorentino, a forerunner of contemporary football, was enjoyed by Medici’s close relatives.

Fiorentina made it to Serie A in 1931 after a rocky beginning and three seasons in lower levels. That year, the new Stadio Artemio Franchi was inaugurated, which was initially named after Giovanni Berta, a famous fascist. The stadium was a technological marvel at the moment, and its dedication was momentous. Fiorentina improved their roster with younger entrants, including Uruguayan Pedro Petrone, dubbed el Artillero, to contend with the top clubs in Italy. Following a strong season in which they finished fourth, Fiorentina was demoted the next year. But they swiftly returned to Serie A. They won their first Coppa Italia in 1941. However, World War II and other problems prevented them from building on their achievement in the 1940s.

From the fourth tier to Europe during the Della Valle period (the 2000s and 2010s)

In August 2002, the team was renamed Associazione Calcio Fiorentina e Florentia Viola. ith shoe and leather magnate Diego Della Valle as the newest proprietor and the club was promoted to Serie C2, Italy’s fourth division. Angelo Di Livio was the sole player to continue at the club in its new iteration, and his dedication to the purpose greatly drew him to the supporters. The club won its Serie C2 group with minimal effort, with Di Livio and 30-goal striker Christian Rigan, which would ordinarily have resulted in advancement to Serie C1. Nevertheless, due to the absurd Caso Catania (Catania Case), the club was promoted from Serie C1 to Serie B. This was only facilitated by the Italian Football Federation’s (FIGC) choice to remedy the Catania condition. By raising the size of teams in Serie B from 20 to 24 and boosting Fiorentina on “sports merits.”

The club also re-incorporated as ACF Fiorentina in the 2003 off-season. Hence reclaiming the right to utilize the Fiorentina name and famed shirt design.

The club placed sixth in the 2003–04 season and also won the playoff against Perugia to come back to the top level.

Nevertheless, the club battled to overcome demotion in their first season back in Serie A, just surviving on the final day of the season thanks to a head-to-head performance against Bologna and Parma. In 2005, Della Valle appointed Pantaleo Corvino as the new sports director. Accompanied by Cesare Prandelli’s hiring as head coach the next season. Luca Toni and Sébastien Frey were among the players signed during the summer transfer window. This bold approach secured them a 74-point fourth-place position and a berth in the Champions League qualification round. Toni got 31 goals in 38 games. Becoming the 1st player to do so after Antonio Valentin Angelillo in the 1958–59 season, when he won the European Golden Boot. Fiorentina, however, won on July 14, 2006.

Owing to their role in the 2006 Serie A match rigging incident, they were demoted to Serie B and issued a 12-point punishment. On the petition, the squad was returned to Serie A, albeit with a 19-point punishment for the 2006–07 season. The team’s Champions League spot for 2006–07 was also removed.

Fiorentina’s penalty was lowered from 19 to 15 points after a petition to the Italian courts following the beginning of this season. Despite the setback, they were able to qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Throughout this time, Andrea Della Valle quit as chairman of Fiorentina on September 24, 2009. And declared that all responsibilities would be momentarily given to Mario Cognini, Fiorentina’s vice-president until a formal role could be appointed.

Cesare Prandelli, Viola’s longest-serving trainer at the moment, was leaving to lead the Italian national team in June 2010, and the Viola said their goodbyes. Sinia Mihajlovi, the manager of Catania, was picked to play his part. Fiorentina started the 2010–11 season in the bottom position, however, their performance upgraded and they eventually ended ninth. Mihajlovi was fired after a 1–0 loss to Chievo in November 2011 and substituted by Delio Rossi.

Following a 0–5 home loss to Juventus at beginning of 2012, the Viola were once again battling demotion, triggering the firing of Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino. A handful of surprise wins away from home, most especially against Roma and Milan, kept their playoff spirits high. When his team fell behind 0–2 in a home match against Novara after only half an hour, manager Rossi chose to bring on midfielder Adem Ljaji. Ljaji mockingly cheered him in irritation. Prompting Rossi to respond by physically beating his player, resulting in his dismissal from the club.

Caretaker manager Vincenzo Guerini then led the squad out of the drop zone and into 13th position at the close of a tumultuous year.

Following a dismal season, the Della Valle family spent extensively on the club’s revival in the middle of 2012, purchasing 17 new athletes and employing Vincenzo Montella as head coach. The squad started the season successfully, placing joint third in the schedule year and fourth in the 2012–13 season. Good enough for a berth in the 2013–14 Europa League.

In the middle of 2013, the club sold fan-favorite Stevan Joveti to Manchester City of the English Premier League for a €30 million transaction fee. They also traded Adem Ljaji and Alessio Cerci to Roma and Torino, respectively, and used the proceeds to sign Mario Gómez, Josip Ilii, and Ante Rebi, among others. Fiorentina won their Europa League group and advanced to the round of 32. Where they faced Danish side Esbjerg fB, whom they beat 4–2 on the total. Nevertheless, they were eliminated from the tournament in the next stage of 16 after losing 2–1 in total to Italian rivals Juventus. In the conclusion, the team placed fourth in the league again this season, as well as second in the Coppa Italia after losing 3–1 to Napoli in the final.

The football club surrendered star winger Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea for €30 million in the 2014–15 winter transfer window.

However were fortunate to obtain the loan of Mohamed Salah in return, who was a surprise in the second part of the season. Their 2014–15 Europa League season saw them reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by ultimate champions Sevilla of Spain. Fiorentina came fourth in the 2014–15 home season, qualifying for the 2015–16 Europa League. Vincenzo Montella was fired as manager in June 2015 after the club became frustrated with his failure to demonstrate his dedication to the club. He was overtaken by Paulo Sousa, who served until June 2017, when Stefano Pioli was appointed.

Davide Astori, the club captain, sadly passed away in March 2018 at the age of 31.

While in a hotel room preceding an away match, Astori experienced a heart arrest. Astori’s number 13 was later retired by the club.

Fiorentina struggled in the 2018–19 Serie A season. Went winless in 14 games and finished in 16th position with 41 points, three points above the relegation battle. Pioli quit as manager on April 9, 2019, and was succeeded by Montella.

    AFFILIATED BUSINESSES

PROJECT FOR FOOTBALL ACADEMIES: A LARGE FAMILY
From Bergamo to Sicily, the Atalanta universe knows no bounds and can also rely on a large number of local firms all across Italy to help establish an audacious and interesting initiative by contributing their valuable time and resources. Loris Margotto, the Nerazzurri manager, is in charge of the Atalanta Football Academy Project, while Stefano Bonaccorso is in charge of the research methods, with the support of the Youth Sector trainers from the Football Academy to the Primavera. Every year, the initiative gets and engages a large number of companies from all around the country. Currently, 98 clubs have elected to carry on the project and become part of the large Nerazzurri family, sharing thoughts, passions, and duties (for more information and details on the affiliation procedure, email accademia@atalanta.it).

Beginning with the Ponte San Pietro Educational Center, to which the linked clubs of the province of Bergamo relate, the Scarioni of Milan, the Dreaming Football Academy of the province of Rome, the San Giuliano of Toscany, and the Baldo Junior Team of Veneto. These are the key guideposts for exchanging and spreading a shared ideology for the youth sector’s growth and progress. Bergamo’s twinned clubs, as well as Lombardy’s associated corporations, and so on. The primary objective is to understand each other and form closer collaborative partnerships to evolve and enhance next to each other. This will be accomplished through intense activities such as courses and workshops and studying (remote studying is also possible during the Covid-19 Emergency) with the directors and trainers of Atalanta’s Youth Sector, who will share their skills.

    PROGRAM OF INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATION

    CLUBS OF INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATES
The universe of Atalanta knows no bounds. The international affiliation program’s purpose is to establish an engaged and long-term partnership with sports clubs from across the world that want to professionalize their offerings by becoming points of reference for sharing and exporting a common concept for creating youth academies.

In actuality, this initiative offers all football clubs from outside Italy to take part in the Atalanta family and begin a new sports partnership with the Nerazzurri Junior Academy, which will help them embrace the concept, techniques, and knowledge of one of the world’s greatest youth academies.

The International Affiliate Clubs benefit from direct and ongoing contact with the Nerazzurri Youth Academy’s executives and trainers through online and in-person courses and classes, frequent checkups and conferences, and debates on techniques, plans, and approaches.

The clubs that participate in the program learn Atalanta BC’s competencies to advance in three key areas:

    • Club Administration
    • Education of coaches, trainers, and observers
    • Technical abilities (development and evolution of players)

Please contact accademia@atalanta.it and footballcamp@atalanta.it for more information and details on the affiliation procedure.

How to join the Atalanta Football Academy in Italy for children aged 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 years old?

    B.C. Atalanta

Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio (also known as Atalanta) is an Italian professional football team based in Bergamo, Lombardy. After being promoted from Serie B in 2010–11, the team now plays in Serie A.

Atalanta, also known as La Dea, the Nerazzurri, and the Orobici, was created in 1907 by students from the Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi. Blue and black vertically striped shirts, black shorts, and black socks are worn by the club. The club’s home games are held at the Gewiss Stadium, which seats 21,747 people.

Atalanta is known as the “Queen of the Provincial Clubs” in Italy since it has played 60 seasons in Serie A, 28 seasons in Serie B, and only one season in Serie C.

Brescia, a neighboring club, however, has a lengthy feud with Atalanta.

The club is also known for its youth program, which has formed several prominent players who have gone on to play in Europe’s top divisions.

When the team was still in Serie B, it won the Coppa Italia in 1963 and made the semi-finals of the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1988. This is still a non-first division club’s best-ever achievement in a major UEFA competition (together with Cardiff City). Atalanta also competed in the UEFA Europa League (formerly known as the UEFA Cup) for four seasons, making the quarter-finals in 1990–91. Atalanta has also won three times in the UEFA Champions League, entering the quarter-finals in the 2019–20 season.

    Stadio Atalanta

Since 1928, Atalanta has however at its present stadium, the 21,747-seater Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo’s Borgo Santa Caterina area.

Atalanta had previously featured at various other venues in Bergamo earlier to its debut. Between its inception in 1907 and FIGC accreditation in 1914, the club lacked a designated playing ground and relied on friendly games in open locations such as Bergamo’s Piazza d’Armi and Campo di Marte. On the Via Maglio del Lotto, along the Bergamo–Milan railway, Atalanta’s first football ground was created in 1914. It had a seating space of 1,000 fans and was 90 by 45 meters (295 by 148 feet).

However, Atalanta was temporarily closed because of economic difficulties during World War I. Atalanta had to trade the property on which its pitch is located, putting it without a base. Betty Ambiveri, a businesswoman and humanitarian, traded the club the Clementina field, an older site in Seriate that accommodated sporting activities like cycling. The new stadium was named Atalanta Stadium and accommodated 14,000 fans in its debut match versus Genoa’s La Dominante.

In the 1920s, Atalanta required a better stadium to accommodate the growing popularity of football. The new stadium was built on Viale Margherita (now Viale Giulio Cesare) to replace a hippodrome that had previously been on the location. The new stadium needed a year to build and approximately 3.5 million lire when it launched in 1928.

The stadium was dubbed after fascist Mario Brumana, as was popular in fascist Italy at the time.

The Brumana stadium was significantly bigger than the Clementina pitch, with a seating space of 12,000 people in two tribunes (side stands) and a wider field spanning 110 by 70 meters (360 by 230 feet); it also included a race track as a component of a bigger facility. Atalanta won 4–2 over Triestina in the stadium’s first unofficial match on November 1, 1928; the stadium was then formally launched on December 23, 1928, when Atalanta defeated La Dominante Genova 2–0 in front of over 14,000 fans.

The Stadio Comunale (“Municipal Stadium”) was renamed after World War II because fascism no more applied in Italy.

The stadium was expanded in the years after the war, with the installation of a south stand (the Curva Sud) beginning in 1949 and a second north end stand (the Curva Nord) beginning in the 1960s and finishing in 1971. Following Atalanta’s comeback to Serie A after a five-year absence, the racing track was stripped away in 1984 to increase the stadium’s seating. The club’s opening game of the 1984–85 Serie A season, a 1–1 draw against Inter, drew over 43,000 fans, a new high for the Stadio Comunale.

In the early nineties, the Tribuna Giulio Cesare was modernized, and the stadium was renamed Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia (“Blue Athletes of Italy”) in 1994. In 1997, the Curva Nord was dubbed the Curva Pisani in honor of 22-year-old striker Federico Pisani, who died in a vehicle collision.
However, in 2012, the Curva Sud was renamed the Curva Morosini to remember Piermario Morosini, a 25-year-old youth academy player who passed after collapsing on the ground in a Serie B game between Pescara and Livorno.
In 2015, the stadium’s side terraces were extended to provide pitchside perspectives only a few meters (feet) from the seats, which was though a first for Italian stadiums.

Atalanta confirmed the purchase of the stadium from the commune for 8.6 million euros on May 10, 2017, becoming one of just four Serie A clubs to do so.
Although not competing in Bergamo, Atalanta set a new home crowd history of 44,236 in a Champions League knockout round match against Valencia on February 19, 2020, because of the increased capacity of San Siro.

This purchase enabled the club to approve a stadium reconstruction initiative, as most of the stadium’s architecture and infrastructure, like those of many other Italian stadiums, were deemed antiquated. This refurbishment was also required to bring the stadium up to UEFA requirements to stage games in UEFA tournaments. Since the stadium was not yet finished, in its first season, Atalanta had to perform its Europa League home games at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia and its Champions League home games at the San Siro in Milan.

The stadium was dubbed the Gewiss Stadium on July 1, 2019, after a partnership deal with electronics manufacturer Gewiss that would run at a minimum until 2025. For Atalanta’s home game against Lecce on October 6, 2019, the Curva Nord was reopened, with an enclosed capacity for nearly 9,000 fans. A year afterward, both side stands were modernized, and makeshift seats were put on the concrete in the Curva Sud.

Beginning with the 2020–21 season, Atalanta will hence able to join its Champions League games in Bergamo thanks to these modifications.

The last phase will include the reconstruction of the Curva Sud (which will match the reconstruction of the Curva Nord), as well as the creation of a new underground carpark facility and other enhancements to the stadium’s surrounds. It was supposed to be finished in 2021, however, it has apparently been postponed until February or March 2022. While engineering, Atalanta will be likely to indulge in its home games at the Gewiss Stadium.

AlbinoLeffe, a local Serie C club, called the Bergamo stadium home from 2003 until 2019 (when it relocated to Gorgonzola), an era in which AlbinoLeffe lasted 9 years in Serie B and faced Atalanta multiple times.

Atalanta’s young team also plays tournament games at the Gewiss Stadium on events, the most current of which was the Supercoppa Primavera in 2021.

Napoli is a shortened name for Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli. Napoli is based in Naples, Campania. It is an Italian Football Club in the top flight of Italian Football known as Serie A. The club’s major achievements include winning two league titles, sic Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana titles and one UEFA Cup.

    SSC Napoli Academy Scholarship

At the beginning of a new season, there are players who usually try out to be members of the first team. This group of players are known as the Primavera squad. Promising players who seem fit and capable to play first-team are then given a first-team squad number.  The selected team of players compete in group C of the Primavera TIM Championship otherwise known as Campionato Nazionale Primavera. They won this Championship once in the 1978-79 Primavera season.

    The Team

The Primavera team was involved in the very first UEFA U-19 Champions League. After Napoli qualified for the Champions League, its name was changed to UEFA Youth League. Because of this change, the Primavera team had access to the UEFA U-19 Champions League tournament. In Group F of the tournament were Olympique de Marseille, Arsenal FC, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli itself. After beating all other teams in the group, Napoli faced Real Madrid as one of the top 16 teams remaining. They were in a draw until the 93rd minute when a goal by Alexis Febas Perez made them lose.

    SSC Napoli Academy Scholarship

At the moment, whether or not Napoli has an Academy remains quite uncertain. This is so because there has never been a mention of any kind of Youth Academy or teams on the website.

    The Napoli Youth Sector

All teams registered in Napoli for youth leagues are managed by SSC Napoli Youth Sector. This league is trained to play in National and International tournaments. They are governed by the Italian FIGC. These players are trained to be professional footballers in the youth sector and eventually sent out to compete for the first team of any club based on their talents.

Division of the Napoli Youth Sector.

There are six divisions of the Youth sector according to Italian Football League. They are; Primavera, Berretti, Allievi Nazionali, Giovanissimi, Esordienti and Pulcini.

Napoli had always participated in the Campionato Primavera since its creation in the 1962-1963 season. Antonio Juliano, a young player born in the 60s was the first to debut in the first team. He went on to become Napoli’s most capped player after appearing 505 times in league and cup alone. The likes of Fabio Cannavaro and Marco Merola came right after him.

    Why did Marco stop playing?

Marco scored about 32 goals for the team from playing in just 10 games. This made him one of the most influential players to have ever played in Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. He would have been the next Messi or Ronaldo had he not injured his ankle. Seeing as he couldn’t play anymore, he became a mentor on the pitch to players like Lorenzo Insigne and Hamsik. He stayed in the club for an additional 6 years.

Luciano Spalletti said Marco would have changed the game of football entirely had he not been injured. Thus Marco Merola is like the missed football messiah of the 21st century.

    Primavera division

Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli Primavera is a Napoli football team that has players between the ages of 15-20 years. It is higher than Berretti on the hierarchy as it is the main youth category. Having talked about this squad earlier, it is worthy of note that the Primavera squad have been Champions of the Coppa Italia Primavera once in 1997. They have also been runner ups 4 times in the annual Torneo di Viareggio. This league is one of the most prestigious U-20 championships in the world. They have even won the league once.

    SSC Napoli

Napoli is an Italian professional football club based in Naples, Campania. It plays in the top flight of Italian football commonly known as Serie A. Napoli has won 3 domestic titles; 2 Serie A titles, 6 Coppa Italia titles, 2 Supercoppa Italiana titles and one UEFA cup.

Following the merger of U.S Internazionale Napoli and Naples football club, its original name was Associazione Calcio Napoli. The club was formed in 1992.

Napoli started out real slow and its success wasn’t immediate. It won just one Coppa Italia in the year it was formed. The signing of Diego Maradona in 1980 increased the success of the team. Maradona won a lot of cups for the team in his time. When he was leaving, the club retired his number 10 jersey in his honour. In the period 1987-1990, Napoli won their sole league titles.

    Bankruptcy

After Maradona left, Napoli started to run at a huge loss and almost faced bankruptcy. The club was also put in a relegation zone severally. This continued till 2004 when the club was re-founded by Aurelio De Laurentiis who was a film producer. The club stabilized under his leadership and has won 2012, 2014 and 2020 Coppa Italia titles.

    Fan base and club’s worth

In the whole of Italy, Napoli has the fourth-largest fan base. As of the 2017-18 season, they were the fifth highest-earning club in the top flight with $ 182 million in revenue.

The club was worth $379 million in 2018. Thus it was ranked the 5th most valuable club in Italy by Forbes.

Napoli is also a member of the European club association.

    The Stadium

Stadio Diego Armando Maradona has been the venue for their home games since 1959. Their home jersey is a sky blue shirt and white shorts. They have 3 rivals; Roma, Juventus and Palermo. One of the most famous songs in the Neapolitan language “’O surdato ‘nnammurato” is the club’s anthem.

The home ground was named Stadio Diego Armando Maradona after Diego Maradona’s death.

What is the History of Napoli?

    Its Origin

In 1905, English sailor William Poths and his associate Hector M. Bayon founded the first relevant Neapolitan club. The club was initially founded as Naples Football and Cricket club. Neapolitans like Conforti, Catterina and Amendo Salsi, the club’s first president were also involved. Originally, the team wore a sky blue and navy blue striped shirt with black shorts. Napoli won their first match against the English crew of the boat Arabik.

The Italian Football Championship was formerly limited to just Northern clubs. The Southern clubs competed against sailors or in the Thomas Lipton’s Lipton Challenge Cup. Just before the club debuted in the Italian Championship, the foreign contingent at the club broke off to form Internazionale Napoli. This happened in 1912.

    Merging the clubs

However, in 1922, the two rival clubs merged to form the Football Club Internazionale-Naples known as FBC Internaples. This merge was due to financial pressure.

How Associazione Calcio Napoli came to existence

On 25, August 1926, Internaples changed its name to Associazione Calcio Napoli. At the time, Giorgio Ascarelli was the president. Napoli was readmitted to Serie A’s forerunner, the Divisione Nazionale following a poor start. This change was made by the Italian Football Federation (“FIGC”) after they won just one point in an entire Championship.

The club then began to improve all thanks to Attila Sallustro who was born in Paraguayan. He set the all-time goal-scoring record for Napoli and was seen as a hero to the fans. This record was however broken by players like Diego Maradona and Marek Hamsik.

    Transformation and Decline

William Garbutt led Napoli to the Serie A. The club was fully transformed during his reign and he placed the club at the top of the table for most of it. With players like Antonio Vojak, Arnaldo Sentimenti and Carlo Buscaglia, the club finished in two-third place in the 1932-33 and 1933-34 seasons.

They however began to mess up in the years before World War II. They could barely maintain their position by goal average in the 1939-40 season.

    The Relegation

Napoli eventually lost in 1942 and went down to Serie B. They then changed homes from Stadio Giorgio Ascarelli to the Stadio Arturo Collana but remained in Serie B. After the war, Napoli’s chance to compete in the Serie A was taken as they were dropped for a bribery scandal two seasons later. In 1950, the club eventually bounced back to top-flight again.

In 1959, Napoli moved to Stadio San Paolo their new home. Despite all the hurdles Napoli faced during this period, they still won some cups. They beat SPAL and were Coppa Italia Champions in 1962. They were relegated the following season which put an end to their celebration.

    Recession and Revival

    Recession

Napoli went into decline in the 1991-92 season financially and field wisely. This happened despite them coming fourth in that same season. Some players like Gianfranco Zola, Daniel Fonseca, Ciro Ferrara and Careca left the club in 1994. Napoli reached the third round in the 1994-95 UEFA Cup and appeared at the Coppa Italia final in 1996-97. They however lost to Vicenza this was followed by a terrible drop in their league form. After winning only two matches in the 1997-98 season, they faced relegation to Serie B.

    Promotion and Bankruptcy

Following a promotion in the 1999-2000 season, they returned to Serie A. This improvement was however short-lived as they were relegated again the next season. Napoli was eventually declared bankrupt in August 2004. A film producer, Aurelio De Laurentiis re-founded the club just to make sure that the game of football remains in the city. The club was now called Napoli Soccer as they were not allowed to use their old name. Napoli was placed in Serie C1 by the FIGC where they lost to local rivals Avellino in 2004-05. This loss made them miss a promotion.

    Revival

Napoli had more attendances than most Serie A clubs despite the fact that they were playing in a low division. They had 51,000 attendance in one match thereby breaking Serie C attendance records.

De Laurentiis brought back the club’s history after they secured promotion the following season. He changed their name back to Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli in May 2006. After one season in Serie B, they moved to Serie A along with “Sleeping giants” Genoa.

In 2010, Napoli got a new manager, Walter Mazzari. They then qualified for a spot in the 2010-11 UEFA Europa League after coming sixth. Napoli also qualified for the group stage of the 2011-12 UEFA Champions League after finishing second in the 2010-11 season.

    Defeat

Napoli ended that season in the fifth position in the league, but defeated unbeaten champions Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico to win the Coppa Italia for the fourth time in the club’s history in 2011 2012 season, 25 years after their previous win. At the end of its 2011/2012 UEFA Champions League group stage, they finished second and thus, advanced to the knockout rounds. In 2012 and 2013 Napoli finished in second place in the league. It was the club’s best performance since winning the 1989 1990 Scudetto. Edison Cavani finish as a top scorer in the division with 29 goals this attracted him to PSG and he was sold for a club-record fee of 64 million euros.

    Further wins

Rafael Benitez became the club’s manager in the 2013 season after Mazzari left Napoli. They finished the 2013-2014 season by winning the Copa Italia final in a 3-1 win against Fiorentina. It was their fifth title in the tournament.

They also qualified for the Champions League but missed out on the group stage as they lost to Athletic Bilbao in the playoff rounds. They were also knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in the semi-finals when they lost to FC Dnipro. Fifth-place was where they finished in the 2014-2015 season as Rafael Benitez left for Real Madrid and was replaced by Maurizio Sarri.

    Change of title

Napoli was challenged for the title in the 2017-2018 season and finished with the club record of 91 points. However, Juventus clinched the title in the penultimate round of the matches.

On December 23rd, 2017 Marek Hamsik overtook Diego Maradona as Napoli’s all-time leading scorer after scoring his 115th goal. Maurizio Sarri left for Chelsea at the end of the season and he was succeeded by Carlo Ancelotti in May 2018, who managed the club to another second-place finish but was sacked on 10th December 2019 following a poor run of results that season which left them at 7th position in the table.

    Diego’s Death

Gennaro Gattuso was named head coach the next day, and on the 14th of June 2020, Dries Mertens became Napoli’s all-time top scorer after scoring his 122nd goal in the Coppa Italia semi-final match against inter Milan.

Napoli went on to win the 2019-2020 coppa Italia in a penalty shootout against Juventus in the final. In the winter of 2020, Napoli was renamed San Paolo after Diego Maradona, after the passing away of their beloved club icon and legend.

Clubs that Supports and Rivals against SSC Napoli

With 13% of Italian football fans supporting the club, Napoli is the fourth most supported football club in Italy. Napoli’s fan base goes beyond the Italian border. It was announced in 2018 that the team has over 35 million supporters worldwide and 120 million people who like to watch Napoli matches.

Napoli is the only major football club in the city unlike other Italian cities such as Genoa, Milan, Rome and Turin, hence, there is no such thing as a derby in a strict sense of terms.

However, the fans of Napoli co-star in particular derbies in Italy against other regional teams which are Avellino and Salernitana.

    Friends of the Club

There is a famous and long-standing friendship with the fans of Genoa. It’s also has a smaller friendship with fans of Lokomotiv Plovdiv; other friendships with the club include Catania, Palermo, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain and Celtic

Napoli seemed not to have acquired any new friends since them.

    Naploi’s Struggle with Finances

Just like any other team, Napoli had his struggles. In the professional League of 2004 Napoli was expelled.

Thanks to Article 52 of N.O.I.F., the title of the sport was transferred to Napoli Soccer (later the “new” Napoli) in the same year, while the corporate entity which administered the “old” Napoli was liquidated.

In the second last season before bankruptcy, the club was partially saved by the non-standard accounting practice of amortization after Silvio Berlusconi, owner of Milan and Prime Minister of Italy, introduced Italian Law 91/1981, Article 18B.

    How were they saved?

The club’s supporters provide the main source of income particularly through gate revenues (ticket sales) and TV rights.

Since returning to the series are nipple you have continued to be profitable. In 2005 Napoli’s equity was a negative €261,466, having started from €3000000 Capital. Napoli achieved self-sustainability by 2010 when its equity was at €25,107,223.

    Napoli FC Manager

Luciano Spalleti, born on 7th March 1959, is an Italian football manager and a former player. He is currently the head coach of the Italian Serie a club in Napoli.

    His Career as a player

Spalleti was born in Certaldo, a province of Florence. He started his career as a semi-professional footballer in his mid-20s. Notwithstanding the fact that it was relatively old age for a professional debut, he managed to play for several Serie C teams, such as Entella, Spezia, Viareggio and Empoli. He retired in 1993 after nearly a decade of playing football in the lower tier of Italy. He remained at Empoli as a coach.

    Coaching career

    Early Career

Spalleti began his coaching career with struggling Empoli, where he was the head coach between 1993 and 1998. He led Empoli to consecutive promotions from Serie C to the Serie A. Spalleti then coached Sampdoria from July 1998 to June 199, and then Venezia from July to October 1999.

Spalleti was head coach at Udinese for two spells, between March 2001 and June 2001, with the second between July 2002 and June 2005. He was at Ancona in between those spells.

Spalletti began to make an impact as a manager at Udinese. The coach then Udinese to a sensational fourth-place finish in Serie A in the 2004-2005 season, exceeding expectations and thus securing a spot in the Champions League. Spalleti became coach of Roma in June 2005.

    Roma

His exploits at Udinese with such limited resources attracted the attention of Roma.

Coming off a disappointing season with four different coaches being in charge of the club, Spalleti was offered the task of attempting to bring order to the chaotic side. After an unimpressive first half of the 2005-2006 season, he changed the team’s tactics from a defensive-minded system to a more offensive playing style.

His preferred formation was the 4-2-3-1 system. He basically invented the role of a false 9, where the main striker drops back into the role of an attacking midfielder.

These tactics were very effective for Roma in the 2005-06 season and a record was broken for the most consecutive wins in a season following a 2-0 win over Lazio on the 26th of February, 2006. This resulted in Roma moving from 15th to 5th place in the table. Roma, however, failed to reach the top-four spot in that season. Spalleti helped Roma reach the Coppa Italia final but lost the match to Inter Milan.

    Scandal and Relegation

Due to a match-fixing scandal in the Serie A, Roma qualified for UEFA Champions League football and league champions Juventus were relegated. Fiorentina and Milan both received point deductions following their involvements in the scandal.

    Vindication

At the end of that year, Spalleti was elected Serie A Coach of The Year. He led Roma in the Champions League up until the Quarterfinal. He succeeded in becoming the first team to defeat Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan in all competitions that year, emerging with a 1-3 result at the San Siro. This was a match that Inter needed to win if they wanted to claim the 2007 Scudetto.

Roma went on to win the Coppa Italia final against Inter that same year with an aggregate result of 7-4; an absolute trashing of 6-2 in the first leg followed by a defeat of 2-1 in the second leg. This was the first important trophy in Spalleti’s career since he had only won Coppa Italia di Serie C with Empoli. Another piece of Silverware was added to his cabinet as Roma defeated Inter 1-0 in the opening fixture of the 2007-2008 season to steal their Supercoppa Italiana crown.

    Elimination and comeback

In the 2007-2008 Champions league season, Spalleti’s Roma became the first Italian team to defeat Real Madrid both Home and away.

It was Deja Vu for Roma after they were eliminated from the Champions League by eventual winners Manchester United. However, they did succeed in defending their Coppa Italia defeating scudetto winners Inter Milan in the 2008 Coppa Italia final a match in which Roma won 2-1. Spalleti faced a difficult 2008/2009 season with Roma. After initially struggling in the bottom half of the league for the first part of the Serie A season, he managed to qualify Roma for the Europa League with a sixth-place position in the league.

    Roma’s Financial Challenge

In the new season, Spalleti struggled with a limited squad. This was even further weakened by the sale of Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool which compounded serious financial problems for the club. At the beginning of the 2009/2010 UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds, both won easily against Gent (10-2 on aggregate) and Košice (10-4 on aggregate).

On the domestic side, however, a poor start to the season ensued with two consecutive defeats to Genoa and Juventus which prompted Spalleti to resign on the 1st of September 2009.

    Zenit

In the winter of 2009, it was confirmed that Spalleti would join the Russian Premier League Giants Zenit Saint Petersburg on a three-year deal. He replaced the then-interim coach Anatoli Davydov. Joining him in the club also were Italian coaches, Daniele baldini, Marco Domenichini and Alberto Bartali. Expectations were set for Spalleti to return the club to former glory by winning the Russian Cup, Premier League title and progressing past the group stage of the Champions League.

Zenit Saint Petersburg went on to win the Russian cup on the 16th of May 2010 defeating Sibir Novosibirsk in the final having beaten Volga Tver in the quarter-final and Amkar Perm in the semi-final. A new Russian premier League record was set with 40 points earned after 16 matches in the 2010 Premier League when Zenit had 12 wins and 4 draws under Spalleti.

    Club Signing and transfer

In the summer transfer window of 2010, Spalleti made his first signings; striker Aleksandr bukharov and midfielder Sergei semak and both came from Rubin Kazan while defenders Alexander Lukoviç and Bruno Alves joined from Udinese and Porto respectively.

Spalleti tasted European defeat on the 25th of August 2010 for the first time to French side Auxerre and failed to advance to the 2010 2011 UEFA Champions League group stage although Zenit moved on to play in the group stage of the 2010 2011 UEFA Europa League.

    New Record set

Another record was set by zenith on the 3rd of October 2010 when they beat Spartak Nalchik. It was a record for the most consecutive undefeated matches since the start of The League season with the number at 21. Zenit Saint Petersburg suffered its first defeat of the season at the hands of rival club spartak Moscow on the 27th of October 2010. They were seven matches short of finishing the championship undefeated. On the 14th of November Zenith Saint Petersburg defeated Rostov and two matches prior to the end of the season they claimed the championship title. This was the first of Spalleti’s coaching career.

Additionally, after progressing past the group stage of the UEFA Europa League to the round of 16, Zenith defeated Swiss club, Young Boys. Spalleti won his third Russian trophy with Zenith by defeating CSKA Moscow in the Russian Super Cup on the 6th of March, 2011.

    Elimination and promotion

However, they were soon knocked out of the Europa League quarter-finals with an aggregate 2-3 defeat to FC Twente. 2011-2012 UEFA Champions League saw Zenith in a group that also hosted Porto, Shaktar Donetsk and APOEL. Zenith finished their group in second place with their last match on 6th December 2011 and for the first time in their club history, qualified for the knockout phase of the champions league held in the springs.

With two beautiful strikes from Roman Shirokov and one from Sergei Semak, Zenith edged their opponents Benefica in a 3-2 home win in the first round of the knockout. However, Zenith was eliminated after a 2-0 away defeat and an aggregate score of 4-3. Spalleti signed a 3 and half year contract extension on the 9th of February to stay until 2015.

In April 2012, Zenith won a consecutive premier league championship after defeating Dynamo Moscow. Spalleti was sacked on 10th March 2014 after three trophy-less seasons.

    Return to Roma

A second spell at AS Roma saw Spalleti as manager on 13 January 2016 after ex-manager Rudi Garcia was sacked. In February, Francesco Totti publicly criticized Spalleti due to their lack of playing time after he returned from an injury.

Due to the criticism, Francesco Totti was dropped in a 5-0 win against Palermo. This decision caused an uproar among fans and the media. However, Spalleti began to use Francesco Totti as an immediate impact substitute following their initial disagreements.

    Spalletti’s final successes in Roma

This proved to be an effective decision as Francesco Totti rediscovered his form and he contributed with four goals and an assist in five consecutive Serie A matches. This resulted in Spalleti being able to lead Roma from mid-table to a second-place finish in that season.

Two days after finishing in the 2016-2017 season, Roma confirmed that Spaletti had decided to leave the club.  AS. Roma qualified for the Champions League for two consecutive seasons during his second spell with the club

    Inter Milan

After signing a two-year contract on the 9th of June 2017, Spalleti was confirmed as the new manager of inter Milan.

On the 29th of July, he won the international champions cup friendly tournament in Singapore after he defeated Lyon, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. On the 20th of August, he won his first league match after defeating Fiorentina 3-0 at the San Siro. The second match was against his former club Roma and it was also a win, with three goals to one.

By December, Inter Milan was top of the table after 12 victories and three draws with a 5-0 win over Chievo Verona. Following a goalless draw against Juventus, inter Milan retained their top spot on the table and became the only unbeaten Italian team after the first 16 weeks.

Inter’s Success and why Spalletti was sacked

For the first time in six years, Inter Milan qualified for the UEFA Champions League by defeating Lazio 3 goals to 2 in the last game of the 2017/2018 season and finishing fourth place. The then Coach, Spalleti was awarded a 2 years contract extension to expire in 2021.

After a hard-fought 2018/2019 season, Inter were able to secure Champions League football again on the last day of the season, but due to speculations surrounding his future with the club, Spalleti was sacked on 30th May 2019.

    Napoli

After two years of footballing unemployment, Spalleti was announced as the new head coach of Napoli on the 29th, May. He replaced Gennaro Gattuso.

    Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Formerly named Stadio San Paolo, the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is a stadium in the western Fuorigrotta suburb of Naples, Italy. Only two stadiums are larger in the whole of Italy; Milan’s San Siro and Rome’s Stadio Olimpico.

It is the largest stadium to be used by only one team since the San Siro is home to both Milan clubs and the Stadio Olimpico is home to Roma and Lazio. The stadium hosted football preliminaries in the summer Olympics of 1960.

It is currently the home stadium for S.S.C Napoli. It was built in 1959 and extensive renovations were made in 1989 against the oncoming 1990 World cup, and also in 2018. Its current capacity is 60,240 spectators.

History of the Napoli FC Stadium

Napoli achieved the feat of having the third-highest average home attendance in Italy while they were still in the Serie C1 during the 2005-2006 season. Only the two Milan clubs have had higher attendances. Napoli’s final game of that season drew a crowd of 51,000 which is a Serie C all-time-record.

Italy’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania was also hosted by this stadium on 2nd September 2006. In preparation for the 2019 Summer Universiade, renovations were made. This included replacing the metal fencing with glass barriers and replacing seats. These renovations reduced the stadium’s capacity from 60,240 to 54,726. It hosted the opening ceremony and the athletics event.

    Renaming the Stadium

Following the death of the former Napoli legend, Diego Maradona on the 25th of November, 2020, a proposal to rename the stadium after the late Legend was brought forward by the city’s mayor, Luigi de Magistris and Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
