An Overview Of Skyhawks Sports Academy

It is our intention to impart valuable life lessons through means of competitive athletics.

They established Skyhawks on the principle that all children should have access to the benefits of participating in sports.

In 1979, Jeff Heimbigner saw that kids who weren’t serious participants or elite young athletes didn’t have the same access to training in sport-specific skills.

Many of these kids wanted to improve as athletes, but they weren’t in an optimal environment to do it.

For Jeff, it was important that every kid learns early about the value of participating in sports. Jeff came up with the company’s raison d’etre, which he summed up as “Teaching life skills through athletics.”

With his goals and dreams laid forth, he established the Skyhawks Sports Academy.

Originally, the Skyhawks Sports Academy was a Northwest-centric soccer club. These camps gained in prominence throughout time, producing world-class athletes and exceptional people.

More Information

Life principles like sportsmanship, collaboration, and accepting victory and defeat with dignity were emphasized at these soccer-focused Skyhawks camps.

Meanwhile, they expanded Skyhawks over the years to offer camps for a variety of sports while remaining true to its original mission and vision. These sports and camps now include basketball, flag football, volleyball, and baseball.

Skyhawks now runs camps, clinics, and leagues in over a dozen sports, as well as multi-sport programs and Mini-Hawk® programs for kids as young as four.

Also, Skyhawks has been an integral part of the lives of countless young men and women across North America, as well as their coaches and friends and family, for the better part of 40 years.

Skyhawks camps are noted for their lively, festival-like environment, full of participation and enthusiasm.

Amazingly, teachings are so seamlessly combined with pleasant and exciting play at a Skyhawks Sports Academy camp that the kids don’t even realize they’re gaining essential sport and life skills.

Skyhawks Sports Academy’s primary mission is to instill positive character traits in its students through participation in competitive sports.

Building Skyhawks Sports Academy has been an incredible journey for everyone involved, and we want to keep making a difference in the lives of kids in the future.

There are a plethora of opportunities for your kid to develop through our 10+ sports camps and programs (soccer, basketball, flag football, baseball, multi-sport, tennis, mini-hawk, lacrosse, golf, volleyball, cheerleading, and track & field).

Overview Of The East Rankin Academy

In 1969, East Rankin Academy received its charter from the state. Also, in January of that year, 1970, school started for students in grades 1 through 6.

Then, in 1970–1971, the academy built the junior high school. Every year, a new grade was added until East Rankin had its first graduating class in May of 1974.

In 1975, the school expanded to include a kindergarten class. In 2003, they built a daycare center.

It currently has 31 classrooms, two libraries, two science labs, two computer labs, a preschool center, and an art room on its premises.

They also have a weight room, baseball field, softball field, soccer field, four tennis courts, and a playground. The facilities also include a choir room, dining hall, activities building, football stadium, fieldhouse, and two gymnasiums.

The Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) and the “AdvancED” recognized East Rankin Academy as a quality institution. Also, the school is also a part of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Each student’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social development are prioritized by a Board of Trustees. They dedicate their time, talent, and resources to the school’s goal.

They accomplish this through God’s guidance and the use of a college-preparatory curriculum, additional curricular activities, and the combined efforts of parents and educators.

East Rankin‘s main focus is on providing a Christian-based, college preparation education. Leake, Rankin, Smith, and Scott county kids make up the student body.

The Drive Of The Academy

Educating the whole child is our first priority at East Rankin. Therefore, we work hard to ensure that each student develops emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

A college-preparatory curriculum, extracurricular activities, and the collaborative efforts of parents and teachers, guided by God’s Word in the Old and New Testaments, can help us get there.

The Goal Of The Academy

Raising a youth in the way of Christ,(Proverbs 22:6).

About The Philosophy Of The Academy

East Rankin aims to create a Christian environment for learning, with the goals of fostering students’ moral character, spiritual growth, and academic achievement.

A strong emphasis on Christian values and ideals helps to counteract the heavy focus on academics.

The ultimate purpose of our efforts is to bring praise and adoration to God the Father through Jesus Christ.

What The Academy Hopes To Achieve

The purpose of the academy is simple. They are:

  • To offer a curriculum that contributes to the total growth of each student in mind, body, and spirit as well as in academic and social skills.
  • It is important to have rules and regulations in place to maintain order and create a conducive atmosphere for learning, so that no one feels uncomfortable or out of place.
  • To instruct kids in the Christian worldview and to instill in them a strong moral compass by teaching them about God.
  • Also, to ensure that all kids receive first-rate educational opportunities.
  • To make an effort to give a curriculum with some wiggle room so that it may adapt to kids’ changing requirements as they grow.
  • Also, to offer courses that will aid in the development of students’ moral compass and their understanding of Christian principles.
  • In addition, the goal is to help students grow spiritually and get a deeper grasp of the Bible through both structured and unstructured activities.
  • To inspire pupils to critically examine the merits of their own behaviors, beliefs, and aspirations.
  • Also, to instruct pupils in the ways of God by teaching them to be polite, resourceful, and responsible.
  • Lastly, to crate a means of inspiring loyalty to one’s country and civic duty.

Three churches in Holly Springs—First Baptist, First Methodist, and Christ Episcopal—provided temporary space for the event.

In 1969, a kindergarten was included along with classes 10–12.

Everyone who has contributed their time, money, or skills was greatly appreciated by the Board of Directors.
