Northern Colorado Bears Men’s Basketball

The men’s basketball team of University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado, United States, is known as the Bears. They have been in existence since 1964.

Currently, the school’s squad plays in the Big Sky Conference. Their head coach, Steve Smiley has led them for two seasons. It is safe to say that they have performed well in both seasons.

In terms of their home ground, they make use of the 2,992 capacity Bank of Colorado, Arena. People popularly know them as ”Bears”. The club colors are blue and gold.

Tournaments Featured In

In 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1989 respectively, the Bears participated in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Of all the seven matches they played, they only won one and lost six.

Then, in 2011, The Bears featured in the NCAA Division I Tournament. That was the only time they appeared in this tournament. At this time, they were under the leadership of coach B. J. Hill. Sadly, they lost to San Diego State in that match.
