IK Sirius

Background
Early victories
The club was founded in 1907, and its first major achievement came the year they made it to the Svenska Mästerskapet final (not to be confused with Svenska Serien, which never acquired an official status of deciding the Swedish Champions). They were defeated 5-0 by Fässbergs IF in the championship final.
Years of the Allsvenskan
After spending the following 40 years in obscurity in a lower league, the team was finally promoted to the Allsvenskan in 1968 due to favorable economic conditions. However, they were sent back down after only one season. The club’s re-promotion to the top division in 1973-74, together with the presence of notable players like Roland Grip, who was then a member of the Swedish national team, may have been the high point.
Obscurity and resurgence
The club competed in the second division after being demoted from Allsvenskan in 1974. This was until they fell to fourth division level after a few difficult years at the start of the 1980s. The majority of the 1990s were spent in the former Division 1, which corresponds to the present Superettan, a second tier level. The team then played in Division 2 for the first five years of the twenty-first century until resuming play in Division 1 in 2006. (although still playing at a third tier level).

In the second match, Sirius totally dominated but also squandered their opportunities in front of around 1000 traveling supporters. However, Olle Kullinger was able to beat the Väsby goalkeeper with a rebound in the 73rd minute, giving them the lead. To the satisfaction of their supporters, Sirius celebrated their 100th anniversary in the Superettan with an overall score of 2-1.
The first Superettan spell
Pär Millqvist was named manager when Magnus Pehrsson quit, and he hired Gary Sundgren to serve as his deputy manager. The club finished seventh in Superettan 2007 after a good first half of the season. Despite having a difficult 2008 season, the squad managed to finish 12th and escape relegation.
Youth-team coaches Johan Mattsson and Andreas Brännström took over as the team’s leaders for the remainder of the season after Millqvist and Sundgren were fired following the team’s first six games.
They hired Jens T. Andersson, a manager from Väsby and AIK, in front of the 2009 campaign. With only five games remaining in the season, Jens T. Andersson resigned as manager owing to the team’s poor performance, similar to the previous season when they battled in the bottom of the league.
