We are going to list Top Football Clubs Trials for Youths in this category.

There is a common practice among football clubs to hold tryouts or trials in order to find and pick bright young people who have the potential to join their academy teams.

Young athletes get the opportunity to demonstrate their prowess, athleticism, and enthusiasm for the sport during these trials. The following is a list of important information regarding trials for minors at football clubs:

The fundamental objective of football club trials is to discover and scout talented young players who have the potential to be developed and fostered into professional footballers. They will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and attract the interest of club scouts and coaches as a result of this.

Different age groups Football teams typically have tryouts for players of different ages, beginning with players under the age of nine or ten and progressing all the way up to players under the age of sixteen or eighteen. The objective is to identify potential stars at a young age and then nurture their development with appropriate instruction and direction, beginning at the grass-roots level.

The format of the trial: The format of the trial often consists of a series of exercises and matches that are designed to evaluate players’ technical talents (such as passing, shooting, and dribbling), physical qualities (such as speed, stamina, and strength), and game understanding. Character, attitude and a player’s willingness to learn are among the things that a club can evaluate.

The evaluation procedure involves club coaches and scouts attentively observing players when they compete in the trials. They make notes on the players’ performances as well as their potential and how well they fit in with the club’s overall playing style. The players’ individual skills, as well as their ability to work together as a team, make decisions, and adapt to a variety of various game scenarios, are evaluated.
Why You Should Prepare for the Football Academy Trials
Possibilities for promotion: exceptional athletes who perform well during tryouts may be awarded a spot in the club’s academy, which offers opportunities for standardized coaching, training, and growth. They then have the opportunity to play for the reserve or youth team, with the ultimate goal of earning a contract with a professional organization.

The emphasis placed on player development Football clubs often place an emphasis on the development of players in all facets of the game, including the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological components. They offer a disciplined setting in which younger players can develop and progress under the direction of more seasoned instructors.

Obstacles and opportunities Trials for football clubs are notorious for being cutthroat and rigorous, putting players through a grueling test of their talents and willpower. However, in addition to this, they allow participants to engage with others with a similar enthusiasm for the sport and provide a wonderful learning opportunity, exposure to top-level coaching, and an opportunity to network.

Getting ready for the trials Players who are interested in participating in football club trials should make sure that they are both physically and mentally prepared. They can considerably improve their chances of being successful by improving their individual skills, practicing on a consistent basis, and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Looking for Opportunities Aspiring young football players absolutely need to study and keep themselves up to date with any local tryouts that may be taking place. Many clubs publish information about forthcoming competitions on their websites or social media platforms. There is a possibility that local football associations and schools have contacts with local clubs and can provide information on opportunities to try out for those clubs.

The significance of having a resilient mindset It is essential for young players to realize that not all trials will immediately result in success or acceptance into a club’s academy. This is one of the most important lessons they can learn. Rejection is always a possibility; nonetheless, it ought to be viewed as an educational opportunity. As players continue to pursue their aspirations of playing football, it might be beneficial for them to cultivate resilience and learn how to use feedback in a positive manner.

More so, during your local club training, the club can send out scouts to observe young players. The scouts already have the qualities they wish to see. Once they discover it, they make contact with your coach or manager. After that, they send you an invitation to the club’s development centre for an interview. Most importantly, enrolling children in football schools helps to properly develop them. This way, when the players get to the pitch, it won’t be a big challenge.

What Can One Do Get Fulham Academy Scholarship

Most times, the Fulham Academy scout just shows up at your training centres and observes without your knowing. Then, you are ignorant of their presence, so you are not under pressure. So, it is important to always be at the right place, at the right time to get an opportunity. On the other hand, one can message the academy if they wish to be scouted. But, bear in mind that the chances are low due to the high volume of messages they get. However, there are some details the Academy expect from an aspiring player. They are:

    • Players CV
    • Covering Letter
    • Players Vital Statistics: Players’ position, Age, Date of Birth, Height, Weight, contact email/phone/address, current club, previous clubs, detail of any trials already attended, any representative honours such as school, districts, county etc
    • Players’ school they attend
    • Fixture list of your current team, including location and kick-off time to be passed to scout

At the readiness of these details, send an email to Fulham Academy via this address: enquiries@fulhamfc.com

After reading the information, Fulham Academy will now deliberate if they will assign a scout to you.

Meanwhile, the training programme is in two sections; the technical section and the tactical section. Also, they still put Goalkeepers into consideration. Let’s see the different parts of the training at the Fulham Academy:

    • There is the professional development part
    • Also, they have the youth development part
    • They have the foundation part
    • There is the youth / professional development part
    • Finally, the foundation development goalkeeper part

    FAQs

What is the recruitment routine at Fulham Football Academy?

The work of recruitment begins with the Academy scouts. When they watch your games and find the desirable potential in you, they approach your trainer or coach. After that, they take you to the Academy’s recruitment chamber.

Are open trials predominant in the club? If yes, what is the possibility of getting one?

Yes, the club’s academy runs an open trial. They do this in a random way. So, access the club’s official online page to get updates. Also, if you wish to get a trial, you can email the club’s academy. Ensure that you don’t miss the essential materials you need to present. The academy will also need your personal details. In addition, attach any recommendation or reference letter to the email. Note, if you don’t have an EU passport or ‘leave to remain’ document, you may not get a trial.

What is the possibility of knowing an observing scout?

Similarly to the question of how to join Fulham FC Academy, how do we know that a scout is observing?. The only possibility of you knowing, is if we inform your school or local club of our visit. Asides from that, the possibility is slim. However, we don’t feel it’s ideal to inform the players of our arrival. This is because it will either influence their playing style negatively or positively. So, we always choose to appear neutral and in some cases, disguise. Upon spotting a prospective player, we head over to the coach or manager for further discussion.

During scouting, what are the distinguishing factors you seek?

When it comes to the qualities we lookout in a young player, there are quite a number of them. But the predominant one is “Talent”. All other qualities like endurance, pace, strength, etc are secondary. Similarly, we carry out a thorough assessment of the person. This assessment will be based on physical, tactical, and psychological features among others. After that, we consider age and maturity. This includes how well the player can adapt to the football Academy. At this point, the scouts may now decide to make a review to determine who has better performance; the new ones or those already in the Academy.

In a situation where one hasn’t gotten a trial, what does one do?

One needs to keep trying and not back down. A lot of young players seek to join the Football Academy. The tussle for the spot is high. So, one has to show determination and keep reaching out to club academies. Also, scaling your local league gives you an upper hand. It places you in a position where your chances of getting a trial are high. Above all, let it be that you are playing for the passion of football and not for the recognition. This way, much pressure won’t be on you. Before thinking of how to join Fulham FC Academy, you have to build yourself in all ramifications.

Please email your information to the club’s email or contact them through the Fulham Academy website @http://www.fulhamfc.com/the-teams/academy.

    Overview Of Fulham Football Club

1879 is the discovery year of the club. Its native land is Fulham, London. Recently, the Fulham Football Club got into the premier league. Currently, they are the oldest active professional club in London.

It is a notable achievement that for over 27 seasons, the club hasn’t dropped from the English top division. In addition, the club has experienced the leadership of Mohammed Al-Fayed. But, in the 1970s, the club had an impressive season. It was at that period that it lost the FA cup final to West ham. Then, in 2010 where they lost to Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Europa League Final.

In West London, Fulham faces a couple of other neighbouring clubs for supremacy. Some of them are Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers and Brentford. The club is currently using a white shirt and black shorts as their official kit.

    History Of The Club

The Club’s 2001–2007 Premier League Season.

The club finished in 13th place on returning to the premier league. It faced some standing restrictions. This served as a motivation for other clubs to put seats in their stands. Meanwhile, it got to a period where Fulham had to share grounds with QPR. This was at Loftus ground. The reason was due to the renovation of the Craven cottage. Speculations came up as the club owner sold out some rights of the club.

Due to the poor season of Fulham, the manager could not sign a contract extension. A new manager, Chris Coleman, took charge of the club for the remaining season. They were able to escape relegation. Consequently, it was the issue of finance that led to the challenges at the club. This even led to a court case against the former manager for alleged overpayment to players. However, the Fulham club lost the case.

The club saw an impressive season performance under the new manager, Coleman. They kept moving up the table, season by season. Meanwhile, a West London derby saw them trail against Chelsea in a 1-0 win. However, the coach lost his job in the 2006-07 season and Lawrie Sanchez replaced him. Although the first five games weren’t very impressive, the club appointed him the manager of the club.

The Hodgson’s Effect In The 2007–2010 Season

As much as the club supported the new coach financially, he could not perform well. The club had to terminate its contract. Then, in December 2007, the club appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager.

Similarly, he didn’t have a good start. It was after a month that he got a win against Aston Villa. Consequently, Hodgson kept seeking a better performance but none was forthcoming. This really affected him as the chances of Fulham surviving relegation were slim. But, he didn’t lose hope. Their hope came to life after a dramatic victory over Manchester City. Consequently, this victory was an assurance of escaping relegation. Also, a victory against Birmingham City at Craven Cottage propelled them further.

Hodgson ensured that they sealed their place in the premier league. Another incident took place which made Fulham lose their UEFA Cup spot. This was due to a Fair play rule. But in the 2008-09 season, they secured their UEFA Europa League spot by finishing seventh on the premier league table. The 2009-10 season was impressive for the club. They trialled across the FA Cup but dropped out in the quarterfinals. Also, in the Europa League, they got to the finals but were defeated by Atletico Madrid.

The club significantly won over other top-flight clubs. As a result, the manager Roy Hodgson got the honour of LMA Manager Of the year. The manager took on a new course by moving to Liverpool by the end of the season.

    The 2010–2013 Season.

The club brought a new manager, Mark Hughes at the beginning of the season. The manager is well experienced in the managerial course. However, he started off well by winning a couple of matches. But, he didn’t last long in the club as he left 11 months later. Meanwhile, this didn’t stop the club from having an impressive season.

Subsequently, other managers came forth. Martin Jol succeeded the outgoing manager. He began on a good note by winning matches. As a result, they performed well in the Europa League group stage. But, they didn’t proceed further as they were knocked out.

The 2011-12 season was filled with ups and downs. The club won some games while they lost some. Also, they signed some players like Bobby Zamora and Pavel Pogrebnyak. These players excelled in their various positions. They scored a lot of goals during their time. Most importantly, they bagged hattricks and braces.

A situation occurred where the Fulham team needed a win against Sunderland. Winning that game will see them breaking a record of the largest point in a season. But, they couldn’t achieve this. Even the 2012-13 season didn’t start well. But with time, they started improving. They were 12th on the premier league table by the end of the season.

    Rivalry With Any Other Clubs

Consequently, Chelsea is Fulham’s biggest rival. As both are in the premier league, they will definitely meet often. In addition, their stadiums are 1.8 miles apart. So, travelling for matches won’t be an issue. In the same vein, the Fulham fans consider Queen Park Rangers as their second rival. However, Fulham has defeated QPR more in their encounters. Furthermore, Brentford is on their list of rivals. In their encounter, Fulham won the Brentford side. This was in the Championship playoff final. On the other hand, Crystal Palace is among their rival but not a major rival. Fulham fans also consider Gillingham as their rival. This is because of an unhealthy competition which led to a fan’s death.

Those In Support Of the Club

The support from fans hasn’t been stable. This is due to the unstable performance of the club. Every club needs the support of its fans to scale through. Also, the Fulham fans have been interactive and supportive of the club. They consistently engage in the club’s social media handle. With that, the club grows in popularity.

    The Fulham Stadium

    Craven Cottage

The Craven Cottage is the official home of the Fulham football club. It was established in 1896. Also, it has a capacity of 19,359. The club played a couple of matches with Millwall. A total of 49,335 people came to watch the match. United States, Australia, Ireland, and Canada men’s national football teams have made use of the stadium. It was and was formerly the home ground for rugby league club Fulham RLFC.

    The Stage Before Fulham Establishment

William Craven is the main builder of the main Cottage in 1780. At that point, it hasn’t developed fully. It was still covered with woods. Subsequently, fire engulfed the cottage. The club had to move to another land to establish themselves.

Edward lived in the Cottage. Around 12 other lands were in their possession. As a result, it showed that they had fewer lands than QPR.

    The Dynamics Of The Stadium

A couple of matches were played in the stadium. Examples of them are the England v Wales match and the England v Australia rugby match. A plan to merge Arsenal with Fulham arose. Henry Norris and William Hall were in charge of this plan. This was because Fulham couldn’t advance to the top divine of English Football. But this didn’t go through.

Another plan that didn’t pull through is the redevelopment of the stadium. They wanted to erect an 80,000 capacity stadium. But the Great Depression obstructed it.

The spectators were consistent in viewing Fulham’s matches. The Fulham v Millwall witnessed the highest number of spectators. Currently, the Craven Cottage now has a full seats around the stadium. Consequently, the stadium has hosted an Olympic game too.

    Achievable Plans Of The Club

After a period of time, the club proceeded with the reconstruction of the stadium. The reconstruction led to an increase in the seating capacity of the stadium. According to the club, they had a goal to make the club the “Manchester United of the south”. This was due to the expensive nature of the project. However, some projects are uncompleted till now. Other proposals like bridging to span the Thames was put out. This is for the development of the Riverside stand and museum. On the other hand, they did lots of other renovations in the stadium.

    São Paulo FC

São Paulo Futebol Clube (Brazilian Portuguese: sw pawlu futibw klubi) is a professional football club based in the Morumbi district of So Paulo, Brazil, that was established in 1930. It competes in the Campeonato Paulista (the major state league of São Paulo) and the Campeonato Brasileiro (the highest tier of Brazilian football leagues). Together with Flamengo and Santos, it is one of only 3 clubs to have never gotten demoted from the Série A.

With 22 state titles, 6 Brasileiro titles, Three Copa Libertadores titles, One Copa Sudamericana, One Supercopa Libertadores, 1 Copa CONMEBOL, 1 Copa Masters CONMEBOL, Two Recopa Sudamericanas, 2 Intercontinental Cups, and One FIFA Club World Cup, São Paulo is one of Brazil’s most accomplished clubs.

São Paulo was the first club to join the Clube dos 13, an association of Brazil’s top football clubs. Under coach Telê Santana, the club won two state titles, one national championship, two Copa Libertadores, two Recopa Sudamericanas, two Intercontinental Cups, one Supercopa Sudamericana, one Copa CONMEBOL, and one Copa Masters CONMEBOL in the 1990s.

Several world-famous footballers emerged from its youth academy, notably Kaká, the last Brazilian to claim the Ballon d’Or.

With nearly 12 million fans, São Paulo is the third most popular team in Brazil.

A white jersey with two horizontal stripes (one red and one black), white shorts, and white stockings are the team’s typical home uniform. It has featured its home games at the 72,039-seater Morumbi football stadium in So Paulo since 1960. In 1992, 1993, 1994, 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2006, the stadium hosted the Copa Libertadores finals.

    The F.C. São Paulo History

Beginnings of the club: “São Paulo da Floresta” (“São Paulo of the Forest”), 1930–1934

On January 25, 1930, 60 onetime executives, São footballers, participants, and supporters of the Paulo football clubs Club Athletico Paulistano and Associaço Atlética das Palmeiras came together to become São Paulo FC. Because of the institutionalization of the game, Club Athletico Paulistano, one of the earliest clubs in town and 11-time winners of São Paulo, has deserted football. The Associaço Atlética das Palmeiras, formed in 1902 and three-time winners of So Paulo, attempted however did fail to establish a professional club following the season concluded in 1929.

The new club’s jerseys were inspired by those worn by Associaço Atlética das Palmeiras, which were white with a black ring over the breast. The red-and-white of Club Athletico Paulistano was joined to the black-and-white of Associaço Atlética das Palmeiras, making the ring red, white, and black.

Arthur Friedenreich and Araken Patusca were introduced to the union by Club Athletico Paulistano.

The stadium Estádio da Floresta, also referred as Chácara da Floresta, was built by Associaço Atlética das Palmeiras.

Inner strife and turbulence resulted in monetary difficulties. On 14 May 1935, the club amalgamated with Clube de Regatas Tietê, a local sports club, and the football dept was dismantled.

The Resurgence of São Paulo FC, 1935–1939

The founding members and re-founders of the Grêmio Tricolor became Clube Atlético São Paulo on 4 June 1935, and then São Paulo Futebol Clube on 16 Dec that year, shortly following the amalgamation with Tietê.

On Jan 25, 1936, the new club played its maiden match versus Portuguesa Santista. Because of the city’s commemoration, the match was almost canceled. However, Porphyrio da Paz, the football director, and writer of the club’s hymn received approval from the Board of Education Office to keep the contest going.

In 1938, the club merged again, this occasion with Clube Atlético Estudantes Paulista from the Moóca area, and came in second in the Campeonato Paulista.

    Post-Telê years, 1996–2004

Telê Santana left São Paulo in January 1996 due to medical challenges, bringing the club’s glory days to a close. The club had 14 managers between 1995 and 2004. The Paulista Championship in 2000 and the club’s first Rio-Sa Paulo Tournament victory in 2001 were two of the most significant trophies won throughout those 10 years. The club’s heroes were Rogério Ceni, Jlio Baptista, Lus Fabiano, and Kaká. Ra came back to the club for a brief while between 1998 and 2000. Won the Paulista Championship two times with him, in 1998 and 2000, upon defeating Corinthians and Santos, accordingly. São Paulo returned to the Copa Libertadores in 2004, reaching the semi-finals prior to getting ousted by Colombian underdogs Once Caldas. Émerson Leo was appointed as the club’s coach at the close of that year.

In 2003, São Paulo struck a deal with Santangelo Club Aficionado of Spain. Which ultimately led to the Spanish club’s name being changed to São Paulo Madrid.

From 2005 to 2009, he won 3 Brazilian tournaments and the Copa Libertadores.

São Paulo claimed the Paulista Championship in 2005, with Leo as the club’s manager.
Leo, on the other hand, would quit the club soon after being replaced by Paulo Autuori, a one-time Peruvian national team manager.

São Paulo won the Libertadores Cup for the 3rd time, defeating Atlético Paranaense, some other Brazilian team, in the final. Because their own stadium did not have the occupancy for a final, Atlético moved the opening leg of the final to Estádio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, and the game finished in a 1–1 tie. São Paulo triumphed 4–0 in the return leg at the Morumbi to become the first Brazilian team to win 3 Copa Libertadores titles.

Paulo Autuori exited the team during the 2005 season to coach Kashima Antlers in the J. League. Muricy Ramalho, who led Internacional to second place in the 2005 Brazilian Championship, was hired as the next coach. Ramalho finished second in the Paulista Championship in his maiden campaign as a manager, having lost by one point against Santos. So Paulo made it to the final of the 2006 Copa Libertadores, however, Internacional defeated them 4–3 in the total. Ultimately, they proceeded to win their 4th Campeonato Brasileiro title. Making them the first team under the new league system structure to win a national championship.

São Paulo claimed the Brazilian title for the 2nd year in succession, 15 points higher than second-placed Santos, upon being knocked from the Copa Libertadores round of Sixteen by Grêmio in 2007. They earned the championship for the third year in a row in 2008. Hence coming back from an 11-point second-half setback to capture their 6th league title. Muricy Ramalho became the first manager in league history to win 3 championships in a row with the same team.

From 2010 to the present; hard times

In the 2010 Copa Libertadores, São Paulo fell to Internacional in the semifinals for the second time, completing Ricardo Gomes’ tenure as manager. For the first season since 2003, the club ended 9th in the league. Hence failing to meet the criteria for the international tournament.

Rivaldo was recruited in 2011 while Lus Fabiano was returned from Sevilla for a club-record €7.6 million.

In the Campeonato Paulista, goalkeeper Rogério Ceni recorded his 100th professional goal against Corinthians. Notwithstanding these occurrences, the season ended with the team ranking #6 in the league. So was unable to fit the criteria for the Libertadores for the second year in a row.

According to surveys undertaken by Brazilian sports website GloboEsporte.com, São Paulo was only the 2nd Brazilian club to generate more funds in the transfer window than losses through the 8 years between 2003 and 2011. Tricolor Paulista acquired R$287 million, trailing only Internacional, which garnered R$289 million.

In 2021, São Paulo ultimately stopped its second-longest drought in club origins (8 years) when it conquered Palmeiras in the Campeonato Paulista finals. Winning the championship for the first time since 2005, under new manager Hernán Crespo. But, following a string of dismal performances, Crespo has fired roughly 5 months afterward. The club was mired in yet another demotion struggle and was substituted by club great Rogério Ceni.

    Sao Paulo Stadium

Estádio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo, also recognized as Morumbi (Brazilian Portuguese: [mobi]), is a football stadium in So Paulo, Brazil. It is situated in the eponymous district. It is the headquarters of São Paulo Futebol Clube, and its official naming commemorates Cicero Pompeu de Toledo, the club’s chairman for the majority of the stadium’s development and who passed before it could be officially opened. Morumbi is Brazil’s biggest privately run stadium. Joo Batista Vilanova Artigas, an architect, modelled the stadium.

    The Stadium’s Timeline

The Chácara da Floresta, situated opposite the Ponte das Bandeiras beside the Tietê river in the heart of São Paulo, served as the club’s headquarters and home ground in the initial years of its establishment. As a result, the club’s initial iteration, which lasted from 1930 to 1935, is known as “São Paulo da Floresta.”

Because the Chácara da Floresta now laid claim to Clube de Regatas Tietê, which had acquired the previous So Paulo Futebol Clube, the refounded São Paulo didn’t have its own pitch when it was resurrected in Dec 1935. It started renting the Antônio Alonso stadium, which was then owned by Clube Atlético Paulista, in 1936. São Paulo obtained the Antônio Alonso in 1938 upon uniting with Estudantes Paulista (formed in 1937 by the amalgamation of Estudantes de São Paulo and Paulista). São Paulo started using the Estádio do Pacaembu as a home stadium when it opened in 1940. In 1942, Juventus purchased the Antônio Alonso stadium.

Building supplies were purchased with some of the proceeds from the auction of Canindé (which was bought by Portuguesa in 1956). The club’s entire earnings were put into the stadium’s construction, abandoning the team on the sidelines. The new stadium’s real installation commenced in 1953. The architect Joo Batista Villanova Artigas, a significant student of the college of contemporary architecture, was responsible for the layout of the Morumbi stadium.

The city offered a swap in which the Morumbi would be kept and the Pacaembu would be kept at one point. Following Cicero Pompeu de Toledo’s pass away, Laudo Natel, with the backing of the whole board, resumed the Morumbi initiative.

The stadium installation began on August 15, 1952. The stadium was officially opened with a total potential of 70,000 spectators 8 years afterward, in 1960, after the building was half completed.

On October 2, 1960, São Paulo defeated Sporting Clube de Portugal 1-0 in the debut game. Peixinho of São Paulo netted the maiden goal at the stadium.

The stadium was fully completed in 1970, and the stadium’s total occupancy was boosted to 140,000 spectators. São Paulo and Porto tied 1-1 in their pre-inaugural encounter.

The Morumbi was proposed for the 2014 FIFA World Cup kickoff game.

But, on June 14, 2010, the stadium was ruled ineligible to stage matches in the championship because of a failure to offer financial assurances for the necessary upgrades.

The CBF confirmed at the close of August 2010 that the games in São Paulo would be held in the new Corinthians stadium. The stadium was refurbished in order to be available for the 2014 World Cup by the close of the year.

Morumbi staged the 2019 Copa America’s first game.

    Size

The Morumbi used to have a capacity of 120,000 seats, however, it presently has a total occupancy of 67,052.
The playing ground is 105 meters by 68 meters (115 yards by 74 yards).

The Background Of Montpellier HSC Fc

The initial name of the club was Stade Olympique Montpelliérain. Association Générale Sportive Montpelliéraine (AGSM) formed it in 1919. The issue of World War I suppressed the initial idea to create this club. However, after they created it, it started taking part in association football, rugby union, athletics, tennis, and boxing. The club’s head office is based at the local Café de Paris. Most importantly, the people know them for their red and white color.

In no distant time, the club merged with the club La Vie au Grand Air du Languedoc (VGAL) in August 1917. Their pioneer president instigated this merger. With this development, the club now focused on football, letting the players adjust to the new upgrade. Meanwhile, the club started playing in Division d’Honneur Sud-Est. It had its pioneer manager Scotsman Victor Gibson in 1925. In the same vein, they ran into issues resulting from financial mismanagement.

Consequently, the French Football Federation carried out disciplinary actions against the club, resulting in the laying off of the President. Similarly, the club dropped to the second division for the first time. Most players left due to this development. Then, the club took it upon themselves to regroup. They started by answering “Sports Olympiques Montpelliérains”. Then, they bought new players like Branislav Sekulić, Roger Rolhion, and the three Kramer brothers from Switzerland.

One can say that the regrouping paid off because it took only a season for the club to return to Division d’Honneur. They took off from there to win the Coupe de France in 1929. Meanwhile, the Kramer brothers played a crucial role in securing the victory. Subsequently, the National Council of the French Football Federation introduced professionalism into French Football. As expected, Montpellier was among the pioneers of professionalism and the new league. Within that period, they also qualified for the second Coupe de France final.

Montpellier didn’t really perform well in the first year of the league campaign. Subsequently, they dropped out of the league. Also, they ran into a financial crisis which led to the dissolution of the club. As a result, they went back to answering “Stade Olympique Montpelliérain” to evade their outstanding debt. In 1964, they won the division 2 league. As a result, moved up to division 1. They weren’t still stable in division 1 and so, were relegated in 1950. Also, they were relegated in 1953. To help the club, the president of the club signed the ex-French International Julien Darui as a player coach. Consequently, he didn’t bring any significant change to the club. As a result, the club sacked him.

Once more, the French Football Federation discovered some inconsistency in the club’s financial record. As a result, they fined the club ₣5 million. In addition, they placed a permanent ban on the president, Fox. Ferdinand Bessède took over, as the club president. He paid off all the outstanding debt of the club. Then, in 1961, Montpellier moved up to Division 1. This didn’t last long as they were relegated to Division 2 in the subsequent season. Bessède left the club in 1966, resulting in the depreciation of the club.

Consequently, they included more debts. Also, they evacuated their stadium to a new one. In 1969, they were no longer part of the professionalism in French Football. They moved back to Championnat de France amateur and remained there till 1987. An exception is in 1981. Also, within this period, they switched names twice. They joined themselves with Montpellier Littoral to become Montpellier Littoral Sport Club. This lasted for four years. The collaboration didn’t resolve the financial issues, so players kept leaving the club.

Subsequently, in 1974, Montpellier joined with the novice side AS Paillade to become Montpellier Paillade Sports Club Littoral. Also, this didn’t yield any positive results. They went on to join Nicollin’s club. He made evident changes like signing new players to Montpellier and bringing down his club. After a series of managers, they were back to Division 1. Meanwhile, this was under the managerial tenure of Michel Mézy. The club went on to bear Montpellier Hérault Sport Club in 1989. This happened through the financial assistance of the General Council of Hérault. Now that the club is back in Division 1, they bought Aimé Jacquet to take up the managerial duties of the club. In February 1990, Mézy took over from Jacquet.

Mézy led the club to their winning ways, lifting the Coupe de France trophy once more. Laurent Blanc and Kader Ferhaoui played a significant role in securing this victory. Mézy decided to move to another club after this success. As a result, most players left and after a decade, they were relegated to Division 2. They suffered another relegation to Division 3 till 2004. In Division 2, Manager Nouzaret and Jean-François Domergue took care of the club. Then, in 2007, Roland Courbis took over and restored the club to a balanced state.

He guided the club back to the Ligue 1. Sadly, he left the club after they accused him of corrupt practices with Olympique de Marseille. René Girard tool over from him and signed players like: Emir Spahić, Cyril Jeunechamp and Romain Pitau. Also, he signed their former player, Nenad Džodić, and made him the captain of the club. In the same vein, they qualified for the UEFA Europa League and were first on the French Ligue 1 table.

2011–12 was a special one for Montpellier as they lifted their first Ligue 1 trophy with a total of 82 points. Olivier Giroud won the Golden boot for highest goal scorer for that season. The club went on to perform well, although they experienced a few issues on a few occasions.

    The Club’s Opponents

Nîmes Olympique remains the club’s biggest rivals. To spice up the rivalry, Louis Nicollin, owner of Montpellier in 1970 bought some former Nîmes players to Montpellier. Sadly, Nîmes’s president didn’t allow Mézy to continue playing for the club after a done deal to play for Montpellier. Similarly, Les Crocodiles stand as Montpellier’s rivals in the Ligue 2. The peak of the rivalry between Nîmes and Montpellier occurred in the 1995-96 Coupe de France semi-final. Nîmes won that match which inflamed the rivalry.

The Home Stadium Of Montpellier HSC

The home stadium of Montpellier HSC is Stade de la Mosson. It dwells in France. Also, it can contain over 32,900 people. Previously, it had a 16,000 seating capacity before they redeveloped it in 1998. However, they used it for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, 2007 Rugby World Cup, and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The close Mosson river influenced the naming of the stadium.

In October 2014, heavy rain fell in the district of Montpellier which caused the stadium to be flooded. Apparently, this occurred two times, destroying major structures of the stadium. During this period, the club moved to the Altrad stadium to host matches. Consequently, Montpellier postponed its 40-year anniversary celebration.

    The Current Manager Of Montpellier

Olivier Dall’Oglio is the current manager of Montpellier. His birth year is on 16 May 1964 and hails from Alès, Gard. Also, he is an ex-French football player that played the defense. Dall’ Oglio became the manager of Dijon in 1June 2012. Also, he managed Brest before signing for Montpellier in June 2021.

The Women Section Of Montpellier HSC

Montpellier Hérault Sport Club Féminines is the women section of Montpellier HSC. It dwells in Villeneuve-lèsMaguelone, a commune in the district of Montpellier. However, the club emerged in 1990. They compete in the Division 1 Féminine and perform well there. Frédéric Mendy holds the managerial duty of the club. Meanwhile, they use the 1000-capacity Stade Joseph-Blanc stadium as its home ground. Alternatively, they use the male football ground.

Background Of Montpellier HSC Women Section

They initially bore the name “Montpellier-Le-Crès” due to the merger with Racing Club de Paillade and Entente Cressoise. Then, it became official that they are the Montpellier HSC Women’s side in 2001. Impressively, they have the Division 1 Féminine and Challenge de France titles. As a result, football organizations rank them as one of the most outstanding female football clubs in France.

In addition to their successes, they qualified for the UEFA Women’s Cup in the 2005-06 season. Also, they qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League in its creation year. It is important to note that, many prospective women have emerged from Montpellier. An example is Hoda Lattaf. She also plays for the French Women’s national team. Most importantly, she capped off her career in international football with 31 goals. Other players are Sonia Bompastor, Camille Abily, Louisa Necib, Élodie Thomis, and Laure Lepailleur.

    History Of Renowned Laurent Blanc

Laurent Robert Blanc was born on 19 November 1965 in Alès, France. He was an ex-French professional football manager and footballer. Also, he specialized in playing the center-back position. His teammates popularly call him Le Président.

    His Period As A Footballer

In 1983, he signed to play for Montpellier as his pioneer club. He started off in the attacking midfield position, being instrumental to the club’s movement up to Division 1. Subsequently, he took the directive of Michel Mézy to play as a defender. This was because of his body physique. Meanwhile, he registered nothing less than 12 goals in the first three seasons of the French Division 1. In 1990, he scored in the Coupe de France final, to help his club win the trophy.

Statistically, he is Montpellier’s highest goal scorer with 83 goals. He has 47 Division 1 goals in four seasons. But, on the 5th of August 2017, Souleymane Camara broke that record. Blanc moved to Napoli in 1991 and played for a year. After an unsuccessful football campaign, he came back to France. He played for Nîmes and then Saint Étienne. In Saint Étienne, they almost dropped to Division 2 but survived due to the ban on Marseille. Blanc joined Auxerre in 1995 and helped them win the double.

    His Playing Time In Barcelona

Due to the good performance of Blanc in Auxerre, Barcelona came for him. Johan Cruyff encouraged him and he signed for Barcelona. He helped them win the Supercopa de España against Atlético Madrid. Also, he competed in the Cup Winners’ Cup quarterfinal against AIK. Due to injury, he couldn’t compete in the Clásico and the Cup Winners’ Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain. As a result, he left the club that season.

    Blanc In Marseille

Rolland Courbis played a vital role in getting Blanc to Marseille. This turned out to be a good signing as it was beneficial to both parties. Just like a redeemer, he took up the leadership role and motivated the team. His first season wasn’t a bad one as the club finished in 4th place. With 11 goals and his leadership qualities, his teammates named him “Le Président“. Subsequently, they qualified for the World Cup but finished second in the Championship. They also qualified for the UEFA Cup Final but lost it to Parma. Inter Milan came for him, then he left Marseille. However, he had quite a fruitful career in Inter Milan, winning the Pirata d’Oro (Inter Player of the Year) in 2000.

His Playing Time In Manchester United

It’s no rumour that Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson has always wanted Blanc at Old Trafford. It proved abortive till August 2001, when he signed for Manchester united. That was the season, Jaap Stan left the club. He didn’t really have a good start at the club and suffered a lot of criticism. Gradually, he started improving, so the club gave him an additional year contract.

It wasn’t like Blanc to only record four goals in Manchester United. One came in the premier league, the other three in the Champions League. Most importantly, he helped Manchester United emerge as the 2002-03 Premier League winners.

Blanc’s Football Period On International Level

Blanc tried to help France win the 1994 FIFA World Cup, but it wasn’t possible. This made the fans unhappy with Blanc. He felt bad and considered quitting International football. But, thanks to the new manager, Aimé Jacquet who spoke to him on a rethink. After listening to him, Blanc decided to continue his football career on an international level.

So, the coach included him in the squad for the Euro 1996 qualification campaign which he performed well. Throughout the competition, Blanc played a vital role to ensure they win. But, sadly, they dropped off in the Semi-Final after losing to the Czech Republic. In the same vein, France qualified for the 1998 FIFA World Cup held in France. As usual, he made his presence felt in the competition scoring a golden goal on 28 June 1998. Due to his hot temperament, the referee showed him a red card for assaulting Slaven Bilić. That was his first and only red card in his international football tenure.

France eventually faced Brazil in the final at Stade de France and won the World cup for the first time. Throughout the competition, the opponents only scored in France twice. It stood as a record but was broken by Italy in 2006 and Spain in 2010. Blanc also played a key role, enabling France to win the UEFA Euro 2000. He scored the opener against Denmark during the group stage. After the competition, he declared that he won’t be competing on an international level again. However, he joined to play in a friendly match against England on the 2nd of September, 2000.

People popularly knew Blanc’s signature move, to kiss Fabien Barthez’s head before the kick-off of any match. They replicated his move while in Manchester United exclusively on Champions League matches. Interestingly, the defence of Blanc, Desailly, Lilian Thuram, and Bixente Lizarazu saw France go unbeaten in the World Cup and European Championship. He had 97 appearances and 16 goals on an international level. In terms of ranks, he is rated the fourth-best French player.

    Blanc’s Time As A Manager

    His Tenure In Bordeaux

He took over from the Brazilian, Ricardo Gomes to become Bordeaux’s manager on 8 June 2007. His initial performance wasn’t bad at all. After helping his team finish in second place, they awarded him the ‘Manager Of The Year Award’. Subsequently, they won the Ligue 1 title, by winning their 11 league games. Thereby establishing a new consecutive winning record. They kept scaling, even winning the 2008-09 Coupe de la Ligue.

Blanc’s side didn’t lose any group stage match in the 2009–10 Champions League campaign. In their group, they had Juventus and Bayern Munich. They went further to win Olympiacos in the Round of 16 but lost to Lyon in the Quarter-finals.

    Blanc’s French National Team Job

Blanc left Bordeaux on 16 May 2010. He then applied to the French Football Federation (FFF) for a French National Team managerial job. Under the presidency of Jean-Pierre Escalettes, it was certain that the job will go to Blanc. Since the agreement was already reaching the final stage, Bordeaux owner Jean-Louis Triaud asked for a monetary reward from the FFF. So, on the 18th of May 2010, both parties concluded on the FFF will pay €1.5 million. After all paperwork on 26 June, the French media declared that Blanc had signed a two-year contract.

Apparently, he will coach the team in the Euro 2012. The French National Team officially unveiled Blanc on the 2nd Of July 2010. His initial performance wasn’t too good as he lost to Norway. Gradually, they started performing well, topping their Euro 2012 group. France hosts friendly matches with England, Brazil, and Germany. Impressively, they won all. Meanwhile, in the first group stage match of the Euro 2012, France drew with England, 1-1. Subsequently, they won Ukraine and lost to Sweden. Spain won France in the quarter-finals. Then, on the 30th of June, 2012, Blanc resigned as the manager of the French National Team.

    His Time In Paris Saint-Germain

On 25 June 2013, Blanc took over the role of Paris Saint-Germain’s manager. He went on to lift the 2013 Trophée des Champions as his pioneer trophy on 3 August 2013. This match held in Stade d’Angondjé in Libreville, Gabon. Subsequently, he won the 2014 Coupe de la Ligue Final with Edison Cavani playing a vital role in the match. PSG qualified for the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League. But, Chelsea defeated them in the quarter-finals, ending their run in the competition. PSG went on to win the Ligue 1 title on the 7th of May 2014. Due to this successful record, the president Nasser Al-Khelaifi offered Blanc a one-year contract extension.

Blanc kicked off the subsequent season by winning the 2014 Trophée des Champions. This match was held in the Worker’s Stadium in Beijing. They also won it in 2015. Then, they went on to add the Ligue 1 title to their collections on the 16th of May, 2015. Apparently, that was the third consecutive time it happened. The club never wanted to let Blanc go, so they offered him another two-year contract extension. They qualified for the Champions League that season but lost to Manchester City in the quarter-finals. He faced many critics due to his ineffective formation.

PSG played Olympique de Marseille in the 2016 Coupe de France Final on 21 May 2016. Impressively, PSG won the match to lift the trophy, recording their treble in a back-to-back season. However, with all these trophies, the president wasn’t happy that they left the Champions League Competition. Thereby, terming the 2015-16 season as unsuccessful. He went further to say he will restructure the team in the subsequent season.

Blanc left the club on 27 June 2016 based on a consensual agreement. The French sports daily L’Équipe reported that Blanc would receive a severance deal worth 22 million euros.

    Blanc’s Time In Al-Rayyan

Blanc took over as the manager of the Qatari club, Al-Rayyan on 19 December 2020. This was after Coach Diego Aguirre left the club. Blanc didn’t really have a good managerial tenure there. So, on 13 February 2022, the club signed Nicolás Córdova to replace him as the head coach.

Four Knappenschmiede graduates—Benedikt Höwedes, Julian Draxler, Manuel Neuer, and Mesut zil—helped the German national side win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. At the club stage, there has likewise been tremendous achievement:

Four players from FC Schalke 04’s junior system were on the field for the Royal Blues’ 5-0 victory over MSV Duisburg in the 2010–11 DFB Cup final.

They were Joel Matip, Julian Draxler, Manuel Neuer, and Benedikt Höwedes.

In the 2013–14 season, eight homegrown Schalke players (Ralf Fährmann, Tim Hoogland, Benedikt Höwedes, Sead Kolasinac, Kaan Ayhan, Joel Matip, Max Meyer, and Julian Draxler) began the Champions League match against Real Madrid in the round of 16.

The Knappenschmiede wants to ensure that all of its young players have the best possible chance of moving up to the club’s first-team roster.

Each player must be developed according to results and age.

In order to guarantee that as many athletes as practicable acquire the essential skills to advance to the next age group at the conclusion of the season, there is a coaching philosophy that makes sure the exercises build on one another. We collaborate with a variety of institutions to offer a well-rounded education. And we additionally work closely with Berger Feld Comprehensive, one of the DFB’s leading football schools that is next to the VELTINS-Arena.

The Knappenschmiede experienced a reorganization for the 2011–12 season in order to rationally equip the youth prospects for first-team football and to effectively improve their skills depending on age and performance. There are now 2 divisions within the youth dept: U9s to U15s and U16s to U23s. Beginning with the U16s, athletic competition begins. The Knappenschmiede relies on coaches with the top levels of training, as well as professionals or department-specific instructors.

The young football talent is developed by five fully certified football coaches and four DFB “A” licence holders in the U16s to U23s sector alone. Additionally, each squad competes in the best league available.

Frank Fahrenhorst, the under-17 coach, talks on the value of developing close bonds with players and coaches at Schalke as the practice sessions come to a close. “As coaches, it is our duty to instill responsibility and discipline in the players. This is our responsibility, and it calls for a particular support plan so that the boys can grow as individuals and acquire freedom both on and off the field.

Fahrenhorst describes the “duel system” the club has set up with the Gesamtschule Berger Feld school, which players will be registered in while they practice at Knappenschmiede, with the help of Knäbel. “Kutucu will graduate in March and played for the first team last night. Here, we attach a high value to education and the development of strong players and good people, and if the program is working properly, you get both. You can’t just focus on the field; coaches need to be concerned about kids and their welfare. As a result, we maintain frequent contact with parents and institutes.

“The game has developed into an enterprise, and I shouldn’t be unhappy about that since it has given me this profession. However modern football makes it hard to comprehend the outside world. There are only 18 children in the young system at my brother’s amateur club, which is in the 13th division of German football, and there is only one field available to them. Only 0.001 percent of Schalke students can go on to play for Manchester City, so we have to educate our students for life in the real life as they will likely end up playing in that league.

The chances of player who are older than this to get a chance, is slim. Next up, is to honor the invitation of the Academy’s Recruitment Sector. It must contain the matches to be played, the venue and when the matches start.

Similarly to the question of how to join Tottenham Youth Academy is How do we know that a scout is observing?. The only possibility of you knowing, is if we inform your school or local club of our visit. Asides that, the possibility is slim. However, we don’t feel it’s ideal to inform the players of our arrival. This is because it will either influence their playing style negatively or positively. So, we always choose to appear neutral and in some cases, disguise. Upon spotting as prospective player, we head over to the coach or manager for further discussion.

During scouting, what are the distinguishing factors you seek?

When it comes to the qualities we look out in a young player, there are quite a number of them. But the predominant one is “Talent”. Every other qualities like endurance, pace, strength, etc are secondary. Similarly, we carry out a thorough accessment of the person. This accessment will be base of physical, tactical, psychological features amongst others. After that, we consider age and maturity. This includes how well the player can adapt in the football Academy. At this point, the scouts may now decide to make a review to determine who has a better performance; the new ones or those already in the Academy.

In a situation where one haven’t gotten a trial, what does one do?

One needs to keep trying and not back down. A lot of young players seek to join the football Academy. The tussle for the spot is high. So, one have to show determination and keep reaching out to club academies. Also, scaling your local league gives you an upper hand. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

This is the home of Tottenham Hotspur. Initially, the home stadium of Tottenham Hotspur was the White Hart Lane. We shall look at some qualities of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Firstly, it is situated in North London with a seating capacity of 62,850. It ranks among the largest stadiums both in England and London. They design was made in an aesthetic way. Such that it can serve for various purposes. Northumberland Development Project is the idea behind the erection of the stadium.

Its plan was to bring a new revolution to the Tottenham Stadium. Between the year 2007-2008, this development project had made a plan of what they want to actualize. However, this plan didn’t pull through immediately. This was because, it came across many challenges. So, they had to place it on hold until 2015.

In 3rd of April 2019, the stadium was already set for use. So, the club held an opening ceremony before they played their first premier league game there. There is an ongoing quest to rename the stadium. Up till now, it still bears “Totthenham Hotspur Stadium”. On the other hand, some people still call it “New White Hart Lane”.

    Club’s Background

If you wish to know how to join Tottenham Youth Academy, at least you need to know their background. This is about the brief history of the club. In 1882, was the birth year of Tottenham Hotspur. Then, the club hasn’t built its official stadium. Due to the interesting nature of their matches, the spectators began to rise. The club had to make alternative decision to curb the number of spectators. The Asplins Farm was the alternative ground for the matches. Consequently, this didn’t help, as the number kept growing. What can the club do next? In 1899 was the year, the club begot the White Hart Lane ground. A land was under the ownership of a brewery company “Charringtons”.

With time, the club kept developing in all levels. The got more lands and enlarged their coast. But, around 1909, Archibald Leitch made a design of a new stadium for the club. It definitely took time, around 15 years to complete. Then, the seating capacity was at 80,000. As the club made a renovation on the seating arrangement, there was a significant reduction on the capacity. Above all, the stadium still had its stand and “The Shelf”.

The home stadium of the club then, was renovated to have a full seating setting. This was around the early 80’s and in conformation to the directive of Taylor’s Report. The capacity went down again to about 36,000 in capacity. In comparison to other clubs stadium capacity, it was relatively low.

The club then, didn’t really have a source of revenue. It was basically money from selling of tickets. But subsequently, they got TV right deals and sponsorship. At that point, the club saw the need to expand their capacity. That way, they can stand shoulder to shoulder with any opposing club in terms of finance.

The club owners kept looking for a way to make the stadium outstanding. The had to map out a plan to still rebuild the East Stand and relocating stadiums. Some of the proposed stadiums were Pickets Lock and Olympic Stadium. Their plan to renovate the current Stadium was the only successful plans. That is was stood as the Northumberland Development Project. Other plans didn’t pull through.

    The Road To Redevelopment

In the past 15 years, there has been consistent deliberation in the club. This is in relation to upgrading and restructuring of the present ground. The club also made a couple of revelations. For instance, the purchasing of Wingate Trading Estate and the declaration of the Northumberland Development Project. In this project, there was a proposal to erect a new stadium, a club museum an other structures.

The club hoped to begin the use of the stadium even though it was completed yet. With the 2012-13 season just kicking off, it won’t be bad to begin the season there. Due to some hindrances, the plan didn’t go through. It was also at that period, the club lost the bid for the Olympic Stadium to West Ham United. A couple of other activities went on. For example, the submission of the 58,000 and 56,000 capacity project in 2009. The project of the 56,000 seating capacity, designed by KSS Design Group was questioned by the appropriate authorities. This was because, it had the demolition of approximately 10 buildings. As a result, the design group had to draft a new accomodating proposal.

After series of scrutiny, the Haringey Council, Mayor of London and the government had to accept it. Statistically, only one project off the proposal came to fulfilment. At some point in 2011, the decision of the Haringey Council led to a riot. Those in the riot didn’t like some decisions the council took. However, the council made an approval a go ahead order for the project. It also scraped out the payment for community infrastructure. In the same vein, Tottenham made a declaration to remain North Tottenham to improve the state of the place. It hoped to achieve this with the assistance of the Northumberland Development Project.

The Haringey Council took some constructive steps to aid Totthenham Hotspur achieve its aim. It made some approvals and asset transfers to this effect. Also, the council did grant the club the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO). This development caused a little rift and disagreement as some didn’t want to sell off their lands. But after a while, the club was able to buy the land at Paxton road.

The goal in the heart of the club to achieve was to erect a multipurpose stadium. In this stadium, the American NFL games can take place. This was under an agreement and a partnership deal. In the same vein, the club brought a new design team. They made a new proposal which got the approval of the bodies incharge. Surprisingly, it had the destruction of local buildings.

    The Building Work

The commencement of the plan took place in the ending of the year 2012. But the actual erection of the stadium didn’t proceed immediately. The club needed to resolve thr issue of the CPO first. Around 2015, the construction work took off. The initial stadium was still active while the construction of the new work was on. As the work is into 2 sections, they destroyed it during the second section. Meanwhile, the 2 sections comprises of the North and South stand. A lot of structures were brought down during this redevelopment. The building of the stadium’s basement also took place after the CPO resolution.

Most importantly, the complete approval of the plan is essential to commence work. After obtaining it, the main work on the stadium took off. They construction company took down the northeast side of the White Hart Lane to enable the effective building of the north side. It also made use of solid and standard materials to perform most of the construction work. Also, the design was spectacular. They made it in such a way that it could accommodate the spectators and give them comfort.

The construction team was only waiting for the last season game to completely pull down White Hart Lane. Then, the complete construction was set to begin. But, by then a large portion of the phase 1 construction was already complete. They made use of concrete and steel to build the South stand. Also, it had the two steel tress that stood as a support to the south stand. Similarly, they brought to conclusion, the erection of the roof and the completion of the compression ring. One the other hand, in the second phase, the piling work was the first work to do.

After the demolition of the White Hart Lane, the materials were still useful in the construction of the new stadium. For instance, the concrete remains, in addition to the fresh ones, were useful in building the stadium floor. Similarly, the East Stand bricks got useful for the Shelf bar. The general decorations were aesthetic. Finally, a lot of other works were done to establish the stadium.

    The Launching

After the completion of the stadium, the club cannot begin to use it immediately. The stadium has to pass through series of examination to ascertain its safety level. As a result, four test sections were set up by club. These events were to hold in August and September 2018.

From the way the club made the plan, only club staff and officials will attend the first two events. Then, the last two will be for 2 games with spectators. Due to electrical issues, the safety systems couldn’t function properly. So, the two games couldn’t hold. The club had to use another fan event to replace it. However, the first game later took place in March, 2019.

The Tottenham Hotspur’s under-18 football team won the game over Southampton. Over 28,000 fans were in attendance. A remarkable moment was when J’Neil Bennett scored the first goal in the stadium. It was so magical. The second match saw the Tottenham legends face defeat against the Inter Milan’s legends. Also, over 41,000 people were in attendance.

A football match against Liverpool was supposed to be used for the stadium opening. But didn’t happen, due to some challenges. This made Tottenham to seek an alternative solution. Wembley Stadium served as the alternative stadium. One of the third round EFL Cup matches was also played there.

In terms of the American NFL games, it couldn’t hold in the stadium again. But, finally held in Wembley. It was a game between Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.

The launching of the stadium faced many challenges. It got frustrating that the club kept readjusting the launch date. But this didn’t last for long as the stadium witnessed its first senior game after its launch in 2019. It was a Premier league match which saw Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 2 goals to Nil. Special congrats to Son Heungmin net the first goal.

    Background Of Newcastle

    1881–1903: History and Formation

On 3 March 1877 at Elswick Rugby Club, the first recorded football game in Tyneside was played. Newcastle’s first football club, Tyne Association, was formed later that year. In November 1881, a football club was formed by the Stanley Cricket Club of Byker and was later renamed Newcastle East End F.C in October 1882, to avoid confusion with the cricket club in Stanley, County Durham. Rosewood F.C. of Byker merged with Newcastle East End a short time later. In 1886, Newcastle East End moved from Byker to Heaton.

In August 1882, Newcastle West End F.C. formed from West End Cricket Club, and in May 1886, the club moved into St James’ Park. The two clubs became rivals in the Northern League. In 1889, Newcastle East End became a professional team, before becoming a limited company the following March. However,  Newcastle West End struggled financially and approached East End with an offer to buy. Newcastle West End was eventually dissolved, and a number of its players and backroom staff joined Newcastle East End, effectively merging the two clubs. In May 1892, Newcastle East End took over the lease on St James’ Park.

The club developed speedily as it was the only senior club in the city for fans to support. They were invited to play in their new Second Division despite being refused entry to the Football League’s First Division during the 1892–93 season.  However, with no big names playing in the Second Division, they refused the offer and remained in the Northern League. They stated; that “gates would not meet the heavy expenses incurred for traveling”.  Newcastle East End decided to adopt a new name in recognition of the merger in an attempt to draw larger crowds. They got the names; Newcastle F.C, Newcastle Rangers, Newcastle City, and the City of Newcastle, from suggestions.

    More Info

On 9 December 1892, to signify the unification of the two teams, Newcastle United was chosen. On 22 December, the name change was accepted by the Football Association, but the club was not legally constituted as Newcastle United Football Club Co. Ltd. until 6 September 1895. Newcastle United was once again refused entry to the First Division at the beginning of the 1893–94 season. However, they joined the Second Division, along with Liverpool and Woolwich Arsenal. Their first competitive match was against Woolwich Arsenal. It ended in a 2-2 draw in September of the same year.

The unified club published a statement saying They don’t need to cater to the Newcastle United public as far as professional football is concerned. This was a result of low turn-ups. In 1895–96, there was an improvement in the numbers. The match against Bury saw over 14,000 fans in attendance. Frank Watt became secretary of the club that season, and he was instrumental in the promotion to the First Division for the 1898–99 season. However, they finished their first season in 13th place losing their first game 4–2 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The club’s background will help you know how to join Newcastle United Academy.

    Newcastle Stadium

The home of Newcastle United is St James’ Park. It is the oldest and largest football stadium in North East England. Also, it is the sixth-largest football stadium in the United Kingdom. It has hosted 10 international football matches at the senior level, the first in 1901 and recently in 2005. It hosted games for both the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

As early as 1880, they played games at the ground owned by Newcastle Rangers, before becoming the home of Newcastle West End F.C  in 1886. Newcastle East End F.C .later bought the lease in 1892 before they changed their name to Newcastle United. In the 20th century, the ground’s capacity was 30,000 before the renovation between 1900 and 1905. As a result, it was the biggest stadium in England during the period with a 60,000 capacity.

Despite various plans of development, the ground barely developed for most of the 20th century. The Milburn Stand replaced the old West Stand. Also, the Sir John Hall Stand replaced the Leazes End in 1987 and 1993 respectively. They renovated the rest of the ground, making the ground a 37,000-capacity all-seater stadium. Between 1998 and 2000, they added double tiers to the Milburn. Also, they did the same to Sir John Hall stands to bring the venue up to its current capacity of 52,354. Due to protests, they couldn’t complete the plan to build a new 90,000-seater stadium in Leazes park, just behind St James’ with Newcastle Falcons taking over St James’ Park.

Presently, St James’ Park seats 52,354 people. The club owner Mike Ashley considered taking the roof off The Gallowgate end and adding another 6,000 seats, taking the total capacity to 58,420. However, only on the condition that the team manages to finish in the top six places of the Premier League.

In October 2009, Ashley announced that he planned to lease the name of the ground in a bid to increase revenue.  In November, they renamed the stadium sportsdirect.com @ St James’ Park Stadium. This name lasted till November 2011. Although, they were to use it till the end of the 2009–10 season.  They renamed the stadium the Sports Direct Arena. This was to showcase the sponsorship capabilities of the stadium on 10 November 2011. The company, owned by Ashley, was not paying anything for the deal. On 9 October 2012, they restored the St James’ Park name when payday loan company Wonga.com became the club’s main commercial sponsor. As a result, they also acquired the stadium’s naming rights.

St James Metro station serves the stadium on the Tyne and Wear Metro since 1982. They made use of Black and white colors, and pictures of the club’s players to decorate the station.

The club opened its current training ground in July 2003. Also, the Newcastle Falcons rugby team made use of it. It is located at Darsley Park, which is north of the city at Benton.

    Newcastle United FC Managerial history

On 6 September 1895, the club stood as a private limited company, by shares under the McKeag, Westwood, and Seymour family ownership. The club operated in this manner for much of the 20th century until  John Hall bought 72.9% of the club for £3 million in 1991, and floated the club on the stock exchange as a public limited company in April 1991.

The majority of holdings went to his business partner Freddy Shepherd and he sold less than half of the shares to the Hall family. Shepherd replaced Hall later that year. But his son Douglas still represented his family on the board. Media group,  NTL had considered full ownership of the club after buying a 6.3% stake in the club for £10 million, In December 1998. This came up eventually when the competition commission expressed concerns about media companies, owning football clubs.

In 2007, Mike Ashley purchased a 41% share in the club which was the combined stakes of both Douglas and John Hall, to buy the rest, through St James Holdings. He made Chris Mort chairman immediately and by 29 June 2007, he was in control of 93.19% of the club. On 11 July 2007, he amassed 95% stakes forcing the remaining shareholders to sell their shares.

Ashley announced intentions to sell the club on three occasions, since acquiring the club. Firstly, on 14 September 2008  after fans protested over the resignation of Kevin Keegan, Ashley stated, “I have listened to you. You want me out. That is what I am now trying to do.”

Although, on 28 December 2008 after failing to find a buyer, he took it off the market. On 31 May 2009, Ashley reportedly attempted to sell the club again. Also, on 8 June 2009, he put an asking price of £100 million on the club and they were off the market again by the end of August 2009. On 16 October 2017, the club reported announcing that it was for sale again and wanted to close the deal by Christmas 2017.

    Takeover by the Saudis

A consortium consisting of Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media, was reportedly finalizing an offer to buy Newcastle United in April 2020. They brought up the issue of criticism such as arguments. Consider it sport washing of the country’s human rights record as well as ongoing piracy of sports broadcasts in the region. This was concerning the proposed sale.

They asked the government to review parts of the deal by two conservative MPs in May 2020.  Karl McCartney requested the blockage of the sale. Then, Giles Watling called upon the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport to hold an oral evidence session. This was concerning sports piracy in Saudi Arabia.

The Guardian reported in May 2020 that the Premier League had obtained a report from the World Trade Organization (published publicly the following month), containing evidence that Saudi nationals had backed beoutQ – a pirate broadcaster carrying the beIN Sports networks in the region since the Qatar diplomatic crisis. A report on The Guardian in June 2020 through the hint by Richard Masters that a possible takeover of Newcastle United. He appeared in front of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport. However, given the country’s record on piracy and human rights, the MPs warned it would be “humiliating” to allow a Saudi Arabian consortium to take charge.

Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban beIN Sports broadcast from operating in their region had further complicated the takeover of Newcastle United as reported by The Guardian in July 2020. Saudi Arabia withdrew interest from the Newcastle deal, stating “with a deep appreciation for the Newcastle community and the significance of its football club, we have decided to withdraw our interest in acquiring Newcastle United Football Club” on 30 July 2020.

    “The Prolonged Process”

The “prolonged process” was a major factor in them pulling out. The withdrawal Of the deal brought widespread criticism from Newcastle fans, with Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah accusing the Premier League of treating fans of the club with “contempt” and subsequently wrote to Masters for an explanation.

Newcastle United released a statement claiming that the Premier League had officially rejected the takeover by the consortium and accused Masters and the Premier League board of “[not] acting appropriately about [the takeover]”, while stating that the club would be considering any relevant legal action on 9 September 2020. The

Premier League expressed “surprise” and “disappointment” at Newcastle’s statement in a press release the next day.

The Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media officially announced the acquisition of Newcastle United on 7 October 2021. Let’s see drive more on the topic “How to join Newcastle United Academy”.

    Attendance

The stadium’s all-time attendance record is 38,515, which was reached on May 7, 1989, when Ferroviário and Ceará drew 1-1. However, there are records of a crowd of 41,099 for a game between Ceará and Corinthians in the Brazilian Championship in 1971.

However, there has been no confirmation that this is the case. The stadium’s capacity has been decreased to 22,000 spectators due to renovations and the tightest safety measures.

    Renovations

Until the reopening of Castelo in 2013, after renovations for the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Confederations Cup, the Presidente Vargas stadium (PV) was Ceará’s principal football stadium. However, the stadium was prohibited from making a series of renovations between February 2008 and April 2011.

The PV’s makeover involved replacing the complete electrical and hydro-sanitary system, as well as the chairs and structural beams, as well as a new pitch.

    Games Hosted

The stadium has a history of hosting Ceará football’s biggest rivalries. The King Clasico (Fortaleza vs Ceará), the Peace Clasico (Ferroviário vs Ceará), and the Clasico of Colors (Fortaleza vs Ferroviário) are among them.

In addition to such matches, the stadium has hosted games from the Copa do Brasil and the Série Band Série C, the Brazilian league’s 2nd and 3rd divisions.

    Ceara Football Academy

    Rivals

Fortaleza is Ceará’s main opponent. It is Fortaleza’s most important derby. Ceará has won 193 times, Fortaleza has won 176 times, and there have been 205 draws in 574 games. Ferroviário, Fortaleza’s third-largest club, is Ceará’s second-largest opponent.

This rivalry has been played 297 times, with Ceará winning 138 times, Ferroviário winning 69 matches, and 90 ties.

    Mascot

Cearense cartoonist Mino drew the team mascot, an old guy known as “Vovô” (“Grandpa”) dressed in Ceará clothing, for the “Ceará: Paixo Total” Project (“Ceará: Full Passion” Project).

In late 1919, the team’s mascot debuted. In the Porangabussu training complex, Meton de Alencar Pinto, former president of Ceará SC, trained young players for the America Football Team, a minor city club. Melton, who used to refer to the children as “my grandsons,” advised them to “be gentle with grandpa.”

Following that, the term began to be used to Ceará’s team as well, aided by the club’s seniority. The Ceará Sporting Club was the state’s first football team.

    Ceara FC League

    Cearense Campeonato

The Campeonato Cearense is a Brazilian football league that competes in the state of Ceará.

    Format

The Campeonato Cearense is divided into three divisions, each with its division and format (which, like any other Brazilian soccer championship, might alter year to year):

    Division One

Two legs are played by the 10 clubs. There are three stages in each leg:

    • First round: Each team plays each other once.
    • The top four teams from the first stage advance to the second stage, which is a two-legged knockout (1st x 4th and 2nd x 3rd).
    • Third stage: a two-legged knockout with the champions of the second stage.

    Division Two

Three phases are played by the ten clubs.

    • First stage: Each team plays a home-and-away game against the other.
    • Second stage: The first stage’s top six teams compete in a home-and-away match.
    • Third stage: The top two teams from the second stage compete in the Second Division Final for a chance to advance to the first division. The bottom two teams from each championship are relegated.

    Division Three

Two phases are played by the sixteen clubs.

    • First stage: Each team is divided into four groups of four. In each group, each team plays a home-and-away game. The top two individuals in each group are assigned to the second stage.
    • Second stage: The eight clubs are split into two groups, each with four players. In each group, each team plays a home-and-away game. The top two individuals in each group are assigned to the third stage.
    • Third stage: The top four clubs compete in a home-and-away series, with the top two teams advancing to the second level.

    Série A Brasileiro Campeonato

The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, or simply Brasileiro, is a Brazilian professional football league for men’s clubs. It is also the country’s major football competition and is located at the top of the Brazilian football league structure.

The Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, is contested by 20 clubs and runs on a promotion and relegation system. The IFFHS named the competition the best national league in the globe in 2021, as well as the best in South America.

    Brasileiro VS Brazilian Championship

The Torneio Rio-Sa Paulo-Rio de Janeiro became known as Taça Brasil in 1959, marking the beginning of Brazil’s football history. The inaugural competition known as a national championship took place in 1971, though it was renamed “Campeonato Brasileiro” in 1989.

Official winners of the Brazilian championship or champions of Brazil (not winners of Brasileiro or Série A) from 1959 to 1970 were however recognized as official winners of the Brazilian championship or champions of Brazil in 2010.

    Why is Campeonato Brasileiro big?

The Campeonato Brasileiro is one of the world’s most powerful leagues. It also has the most club world champion titles, with six clubs winning a total of ten. In addition, with 20 titles won across ten clubs, they have the second-most Copa Libertadores titles.

After the Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), and Serie A (Italy), the IFFHS placed the league fourth in terms of strength from 2001 to 2012. (Italy).

    Level of Popularity

The Campeonato Brasileiro is the most popular football league in the Americas as well as one of the most widely aired in the globe, with coverage in 155 countries. It is also one of the richest tournaments in the world.

It is the sixth most valuable, with a market capitalization of over US$1.43 billion and an annual turnover of more than US$1.17 billion in 2012.

Clubs that have competed for VS Clubs that won

In total, 156 clubs have competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro since 1959.

Seventeen clubs have won the Brazilian football championship, with thirteen of them winning the title several times. Palmeiras has however won the Campeonato Brasileiro ten times, making them the most successful club in the championship.

Santos came in second with eight trophies, followed by Corinthians and Flamengo with seven each. Between 1961 and 1965, Santos’ Os Santásticos won five straight titles, a feat that is still unmatched. The state of So Paulo is the most successful, with five clubs winning 32 titles.

    The Format

    Competition

The Brasileiro has a total of 20 clubs. Each club plays the other twice during the season (which runs from May to December). For a total of 38 games, they played once at their home stadium and once at their opponents’. A win earns three points, while a tie earns one point. A loss does not result in any points being awarded.

Total points, victories, goal differential, and goals scored are used to rank teams. The team with the most points at the end of the season is proclaimed champion. When two or more clubs have the same number of points, certain conditions apply.

    The Rules

If there are more than two clubs tied and they are not vying for the national title or relegation, the tie is broken using games played against each other:

    a) the number of games won

    b) the total goal difference

    c) the total number of goals scored

    d) the head-to-head record (with the away goals rule in effect if only two clubs are taken into account)

If the tie remains unbroken, Fair Play scales will be used to determine the winner.

    e) The least amount of yellow cards

    f) the least amount of red cards

The Fair Play scales will not be used if there is a tie for the championship, demotion, or qualification to other tournaments. The winner is determined by a play-off match held at a neutral location. Otherwise, the last spots will be decided by a lottery.

    Note

Between the Brasileiro and the Série B, there is a promotion and relegation system. The Brasileiro’s four lowest-placed teams are demoted to Série B, with the Série B’s top four teams promoted to the Brasileiro.

    International competition qualification

Since 2016, the top six clubs in the Brasileiro have qualified for the Copa Libertadores that follow. The top four teams advance directly to the group stage, while the fifth and sixth teams advance to the second round. Depending on who wins the Copa do Brasil, Copa Sudamericana, or Copa Libertadores, the number of teams qualifying for the Libertadores may increase.

Clubs in seventh to twelfth position qualify for the following Copa Sudamericana, albeit as previously stated, the number of participants may vary depending on other tournaments.

    Deportivo Pereira

A professional football team from Colombia named Deportivo Pereira is situated in Pereira and competes in Category Primera A at the moment. The Hernán Ramrez Villegas stadium is where they have their home matches.

    Background

Pereira is the only official group in the Risaralda Department, despite the fact that the Third Division (Primera C) has a number of clubs.

The 1949 season was Deportivo Pereira’s First Division (Primera A) debut.
The Bogota-based soccer team Universidad, which had previously competed in Pereira’s “Pearl of the On River,” as the city is known, was substituted by Deportivo Pereira.

    Young Years

The team played their debut match against Universidad De Bogotá at home on February 12, 1944, falling 1-2. Humberto Suárez, an Ecuadorian footballer, netted the debut goal for the side. With an ultimate scoreline of 1-2 versus Atlético Bucaramanga and goals from Omar Barahona and José “Mico” Zapata, it achieved its maiden win. With a score of 3-4, the visitors defeated Bucaramanga for a 2nd time. On October 9, 1949, the squad defeated Huracán 4-1 at home thanks to goals from Carmelo Enrique Colombo, José “Mico” Zapata, Inocencio Paz Lasso “Cencio,” and an own goal by Huracan player Santos Isaza. Colombian Inocencio Paz Lasso “Cencio,” who went by another of Pereira’s nicknames, led the “Material” team in goals scored with 11, finishing first. With just 14 points, the squad came in last at the end of the year.

A Primera A championship has never been claimed by Deportivo Pereira. The team’s third-place finish in 1974 marked their most productive season.

    1982

Gilberto Osorio served as the team’s captain, and the roster also included “Ratón” Echeverri, Victor Longo, Henry Viáfara, Gilberto Cabrera, Farid Percy, Sergio Cierra, Benjamin “Mincho” Cardona, Eduardo Emilio Vilarete, Jairo “Chiqui” Aguirre, and as backups, goalkeeper Reynel Ruiz, midfielders Manzi and Ponciano Castro, The squad placed fourth overall in the competition.

    Other notables

Dimayor of Colombia changed the competition in 1991 such that the winner of the Second Division would advance to the First Division and the final First Division team would be dropped to the Second Division. The team finished 1995 in a respectable 6th position, safely outside of Second Division. The squad was, though, demoted to Second Division following the 1997 competition, and it was forced to stay there for the seasons of 1998, 1999, and 2000.

The team, coached by Walter Aristizabal, earned the Second Division competition in 2000 and moved back to the First Division behind talents. Such as Rafael Castillo, Hernán Daro Cardona, Daniel Velez, and Jairo Serna. The team has thus advanced to 3 First Division semifinals and finished 4th in the 2003 competition.

The team had to face Academia in the Second Division’s relegation or promotion match in 2007 since it placed second to bottom. Courtesy of striker scar Restrepo, Deportivo Pereira defeated Academia 4-2, maintaining its First Division status.

The club’s democratization procedure began by the close of 2008, following a successful season. The División Mayor del Ftbol Colombiano (Dimayor) and the Federación Colombiana de Ftbol acknowledged the team as Deportivo Pereira SA after many months of judicial proceedings.

Deportivo Pereira’s First Division standing was forfeited on November 6, 2011, after they fell to Deportes Tolima 1-0 in Ibagué.

With a sum of 43 points out of a potential 54 points in a single season, Deportivo Pereira, led by coach Octavio Zambrano, made history to advance into the 2nd half of the 2012 Categora Primera B season. This makes them the 1st team to have accomplished this count. But, in the semifinals, the team lost the opportunity to advance back to the top division.

As of now, it is largely utilized for football games. Additionally, Deportivo Pereira calls it home. 30,313 spectators can fit inside the stadium. In 1971, the stadium was constructed. In preparation for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2011, the stadium was being rebuilt.

    Work experience

Upon serving as the under-17 national team of Colombia’s assistant manager for a while, Restrepo stopped at Estudiantil in 2016. He was appointed head coach of Atlético Nacional’s under-20 team on January 31, 2019.

Following Paulo Autuori’s resignation on May 24, 2019, Restrepo was appointed as the primary team’s interim manager. After Juan Carlos Osorio was appointed, he went back to his prior position; however, after Osorio was fired in November 2020, he was once more acting in that capacity.

Restrepo was taken back to his prior position when Alexandre Guimares was named manager, however on June 9, 2021, Guimares resigned and Restrepo was introduced as of 1st team manager. Categoría Primera A

Known as Liga BetPlay Dimayor (or Liga Aguila between 2015 and 2019 due to financial backing by online betting company BetPlay), the Categora Primera A is a Colombian professional league for association football clubs. The name Categora Primera A is pronounced [kateoi.a pimea a]. It is the most prestigious football competition in the nation and comes first in the hierarchy of football leagues in Colombia.

The regular season of the league features competition between twenty clubs. The advancement and demotion scheme for the Categora Primera A and Categora Primera B leagues is handled by División Mayor del Ftbol Profesional Colombiano, or DIMAYOR. A total of 14 clubs have won the title of Colombian football winner since the sport’s beginning in 1948. With 17 championships, Atlético Nacional is the most accomplished team.

    Background

There was no official football league in Colombia prior to 1948. Though it took some time for the sport to gain publicity, the first clubs were established in Barranquilla and Bogotá: Barranquilla FC, Polo Club, Escuela Militar, and Bartolinos.

The Copa Centenario Batalla de Boyacá came after the 1918 Campeonato Nacional as the inaugural competition between Colombian clubs.

The earliest club still in existence as a professional club is Independiente Medelln, which was established on April 15, 1913. The Colombian Football Federation and DIMAYOR organized the first competition in 1948. 10 teams entered this initial contest and paid the 1,000 peso entry fee. In addition to one squad from Barranquilla, 2 teams each were enlisted from Bogotá, Cali, Manizales, and Pereira.

There were 252 players signed up for the competition that year, 182 of whom were from Colombia, 13 from Argentina, 8 from Peru, Five from Uruguay, Two from Chile, Two from Ecuador, 1 from the Dominican Republic, and 1 from Spain.

A short time after the league’s founding, disagreements sprang out between DIMAYOR, the organization behind the new national league, and Adeftbol, the organization in charge of amateur football in Colombia. DIMAYOR withdrew from Adeftbol and declared it will function outside of FIFA guidelines. FIFA punished Colombian football in retaliation, barring the national team and all of its clubs from participating in international competitions. El Dorado refers to the time frame between 1949 and 1954.

This was Colombian football’s heyday rather than a sad period. Colombian clubs started acquiring star players from all over South America and Europe once they were no longer compelled to settle transfer charges to clubs from other countries. Millonarios, which had footballers like Alfredo di Stéfano and won back-to-back championships, was the most relentless international player signer. As club contests gained in popularity and participation soared, the Copa Colombia was established in 1950. Over the following 58 years, that elimination contest was held irregularly; it wasn’t until 2008 that it was made a yearly event.

When Colombia re-joined the international community in 1954, the celebrities moved back to their home countries, but the period was never overlooked.

The league replaced its annual tourney with 2 smaller ones in 1968, following the trend that was developing in South America. The Apertura, which ran from February to June, and the Finalización, which ran from July to December, would then serve as the 2 annual tourneys in which Colombian clubs would participate. In 2002, these 2 tourneys would become separate championships. The 2nd and 3rd tiers were added to the league in 1991, resulting in yet another reorganization. Due to financial constraints, the 3rd division’s 2002 season was cancelled. Beginning in 2003, it ceased to offer professional division promotions until it was eventually discontinued in 2010.

    Structure

For the 2019 season, Colombian football will continue in its present format. Twenty teams compete in the top division, and each team participates in the annual Apertura and Finalización competitions. The three-stage structure used for both events is the same.

In the opening round, each team faces the other teams once for a record of 19 games in a single round-robin format. The leading 8 teams then go to the playoff session, which consists of 2 groups with round-robin games that each club plays on 6 occasions. The final, which is contested in a home and away format, is attended by the 2 group winners.

The point totals teams earned over the prior 3 seasons are averaged to decide which teams will be relegated to Categora Primera B. The last 2 teams are eliminated each season, while the best 2 from Primera B take their position.

    Prize

Since 1948, the same award has been awarded to recognize the winner each year. It is created with German silver, weighs about 5 kilos, and stands about 90 centimetres tall. Its topmost portion bears a representation of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, a symbol of sporting triumph throughout history. The identities of all the winning clubs are etched on the actual prize, which is housed at DIMAYOR’s corporate office; the winners are given an exact duplicate. The winners additionally receive a trophy from the league’s sponsor in conjunction with the game’s original medal.

    Copa Colombia

Colombia has a yearly football competition recognized as the Copa Colombia (English: Colombia Cup; formally dubbed as Copa BetPlay Dimayor). It is the local cup game for the country, comparable to the FA Cup in England or the Copa del Rey in Spain, and is played out between the 36 professional clubs of DIMAYOR.

The Copa Colombia was initially contested in 1950, and following its rebirth in 2008, it has been played continuously. With 4 championships, Atlético Nacional is the most accomplished club.

The reigning champions, Atlético Nacional, defeated Deportivo Pereira to claim the Copa Colombia for the 5th time and improved to 5-1 overall.

    Background

DIMAYOR launched the Copa Colombia in 1950, following the initial 2 seasons of the professional division. Boca Juniors de Cali claimed it by defeating Santa Fe with a final scoreline of 7-6.

Various reports question the validity of the following edition, which was published in 1951–1952. According to RSSSF, Boca Juniors won the competition after beating Millonarios 3-2 on the whole in the championship match.

Even so, according to comutricolor.com, Millonarios and Boca Juniors faced in the champions phase of the 1952–53 season, and they again faced in the final, with Millonarios beating Boca Juniors with an overall scoreline of 5-0.

According to the Liga Postobon website, only the 1950–51 and 1952–53 seasons saw competition.

The 1951–1952 season is likewise disregarded on the authorized Millonarios website, which lists the 1962–1963 season as the team’s 2nd championship.

Three years afterwards, in 1956, the game’s second iteration was held, but it was postponed throughout.

There are questions concerning the 1962–1963 tournament’s validity, much like with earlier iterations. According to some reports, Millonarios beat Deportivo Cali in the championship match with an overall scoreline of 5-3; but, according to other reports, this award was handed to Millonarios as a memorial award as they had claimed the league’s first 3 seasons in a row.

The competition would not be featured in the league until 1981, at which point the cup would be contested. The cup winner was instantly eligible for the league’s Final Stage the following year.

Those that did not advance to the league’s quadrangular phase for this competition competed in the First Group, while teams that were relegated from the quadrangular phase competed in the 2nd Group. Deportivo Cali and Independiente Medelln, the champions of each category, squared off in the Finals, which Medelln prevailed with an overall scoreline of 4-2.

Another game took place as a member of the league in 1989. In this sequence, the leading 4 clubs in the competition received extra points from the league: 0.500, 0.375, 0.250, and 0.125. Upon tying 0-0 in the initial game and winning the following one 2-1, Santa Fe beat Unión Magdalena in the championship game. América de Cali, Santa Fe, Unión Magdalena, and Junior were the leading 4 teams in the competition. Up until 2008, this was the final Copa Colombia season.

The 36 DIMAYOR members voted to organize a new national cup on February 14. Everyone of DIMAYOR’s associates, including the 1st and 2nd divisions of Colombian football, would oppose the ruling.

Because of sponsorship with Postobón, who’s likewise the league’s sponsor, the new competition was named Copa Postobón.

La Equidad earned the new cup’s inaugural competition.

The competition is sponsored by the Bavaria brewery, which makes the guila beer, hence the cup was rebranded Copa Guila in 2015.

The competition is sponsored by the online sportsbook Betplay as of 2020, hence the cup was rebranded Copa Betplay Dimayor.

    New York Red Bull

A professional soccer team from the United States, the New York Red Bulls are situated in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls are an Eastern Conference team in Major League Soccer (MLS). The team was founded in October 1994, and they debuted as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars for the league’s inaugural season in 1996. The squad was rebranded and sold to Red Bull GmbH in 2006, hence its present moniker.

Since 2010, the Red Bulls have held their home games at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. They performed at Giants Stadium in the past. The club is one of two MLS organizations with New York metropolitan area clubs. New York City FC, who debuted in the league in 2015, is also included. The Hudson River Derby pits the two teams against one another.

History of New York Red Bulls FC

    Age of MetroStars

Empire Soccer Club was the initial name of the organization, and it was from this moniker that the team’s main fan club, Empire Supporters Club, was born. John Kluge and Stuart Subotnick were the team’s first owners. After Nike’s initial idea of “MetroFlash” was rejected, the name MetroStars was selected in honor of Metromedia, the media firm created by Kluge.

Additionally, the owners thought about but decided against purchasing the “Cosmos” naming rights. The first MetroStars player was Tab Ramos, who signed with MLS first. Tony Meola, a teammate from the 1994 FIFA World Cup, and Roberto Donadoni, a great midfielder for AC Milan, quickly joined him. Giovanni Savarese, a previously unknown Venezuelan, became the Metros’ initial breakout star. Eddie Firmani, formerly of the New York Cosmos, served as the team’s first coach.

Bob Bradley, a native of New Jersey who had previously won championships as a head coach of the Chicago Fire and an assistant coach with D.C. United, was hired as the team’s new manager in 2003. In his first season, Bradley guided the team to the U.S. Open Cup final and a playoff berth. With their La Manga Cup victory in 2004, the MetroStars became the first MLS team to take home a trophy from a country other than North America.

In the middle of the 2005 campaign, Bradley was let go. Mo Johnston, his assistant, was named acting head coach. As a result, the MetroStars earned seven points in their final three games, qualifying them for the playoffs. However, another disappointing campaign came to an end when they were eliminated from the playoffs after losing 3-2 to the New England Revolution.

    Period of Gerhard Struber (2020–present)

On October 6, 2020, Kevin Thelwell appointed Gerhard Struber, a former manager of Barnsley F.C., as the team’s new leader. The COVID-19 pandemic caused delays that prevented Struber from making his debut until the Red Bulls advanced to the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. He presided over Columbus’ 3-2 road defeat.

Caden Clark, a young midfielder, broke out in the second half of the 2020 season and scored on each of his first, second, and postseason appearances. Clark was sold to RB Leipzig, and the transfer was planned for the 2021–2022 season. For the MLS season of 2021, Thelwell and Struber extensively overhauled the squad by bringing in 12 new players from a variety of South American and European clubs.

In addition, New York used two Red Bull Salzburg players on loan and added former Celtic F.C. forward Patryk Klimala as a designated player. Additionally, the Red Bulls started 2022 with eight games in all competitions. As well as six league matches without a loss on the road. Before an Open Cup victory over Charlotte FC on May 25, the team had lost all six of their home games in 2022.

However, the Red Bulls open cup run saw victories over Hartford Athletic and DC United before those victories. After defeating NYCFC 3-0 in the quarterfinal at Red Bull Arena, they would go on to face Orlando City in the championship game.
