    Overview Of Shandong Taishan F.C.

Licensed by the Chinese Football Association, Shandong Taishan Football Club is a professional football team competing in China’s Super League (CFA). It is located in Jinan in Shandong Province and its home stadium, Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium, can hold 56,808.

Shandong Electric Power Group Corporation, Shandong province’s largest electricity provider and a subsidiary of China’s State Grid Corporation, is the company’s current dominant stakeholder. When Luneng Group was founded, it was known as the “Luneng Group,” a reference to Shandong’s historical state of Lu, and the word neng meaning “energy.”

This club takes its name from Mount Tai, which is where it gets its last portion. On April 10, 1956, Shandong Provincial Team was established, and the current professional football team was established on December 2, 1993.

They were one of the original members of China’s first top-tier professional league. This led to their first league championship in the following season, 1999. 2006, 2008, and 2010 league championships have made them one of the most successful Chinese football clubs.

Shandong is the fifth most valuable football team in China, according to Forbes, with a team valuation of $126 million and a projected income of $24 million for 2015.

    Background Details Of The Club

    Initial Activities Of The Club

On April 10, 1956, the Shandong Province government established the Shandong Provincial football squad to participate in the newly established and rising Chinese football league. This season Shandong participated, starting in the second tier and finishing bottom of their group in the group stages.

The team’s performance improved the next year, and they finished third in their division, although they only played in a few games since the management decided to focus the team’s efforts on the multi-sport Chinese National Games.

The team represented China in the 1965 Chinese National Games, where it finished ninth. Chinese Cultural Revolution prevented any attempt to return to the league for several seasons following that season.
In 1973, Shandong was allowed to join the top division of the league and finished ninth at the end of the season.

Even though they became regulars in the league over time, the management wanted to compete in the Chinese National Games, so they entered a team in 1979 and won it by a score of 3–1 over Beijing in the final. The team’s performance in that competition served as a springboard, as Shandong finished as runners-up in the league in 1981 and 1982.

Shandong’s early-decade surge waned rapidly, and by the decade’s close, the team had been relegated for the first time, placing towards the bottom of the league standings in 1989. Shandong was subsequently relegated to the third division the following season.

That season, they have crowned champions and promoted to the second tier at the completion of their third-division campaign.

This decision to make Chinese football entirely professional spurred the team on, and they finished third in the division, ensuring their promotion to China’s first top-tier professional competition in 1994: the Chinese Jia-A League.

Shandong Football Club became Shandong Taishan Football Club on December 2, 1993, after gaining sponsorship and transitioning from amateur to professional status. Shandong Jinan Taishan Football Club was officially established as a result of a sponsorship agreement between Jinan City and the city administration on January 29, 1994.

    Attaining Professionalism

The owners of Shandong, one of the original teams in the 1994 Chinese Jia-A League’s first season, rapidly ran into financial difficulties as a result of the increased costs of running a professional club and the resulting late payments to players.

The lack of cash also prevented the squad from signing any foreign players, making them one of the few teams in the league without any foreign players. Several long-time players who helped the team establish itself in the league, such as Wang Dongning and Leng Bo, left at the end of the season, compounding the problems.

A name change to Jinan Taishan Football Club was made to satisfy sponsors on April 3, 1995, but the club’s financial woes persisted and it was unable to add any new players to the roster. Despite this, manager Yin Tiesheng gave players like Li Xiaopeng and Liu Yue an opportunity by promoting from within.

As a result of Shandong’s win over Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in the 1995 Chinese FA Cup in Nanjing, fans were blown away by the club’s new forwards Su Maozhen and Tang Xioocheng.

After the win, Shandong General Tobacco (Group) Co., Ltd. became interested in the team and seized ownership of it on March 2nd, 1996, investing 6.5 million Yuan into it.

The Jinan City government’s sustained funding of the club, as well as Su Maozhen becoming the league’s top goal scorer and the team making it to another cup final in 1996, gave the impression that things had improved for the team, despite losing the final 4–1.

The Head Coach Of Shandong Taishan F.C.

In addition to being a Chinese football coach, Hao Wei (born December 27, 1976) also played for the national team. Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng’s manager is

His Tenure Playing For A Football Club

Like many of China’s most talented young players, Hao Wei was flown to Brazil in 1997 for a training program financed by Jianlibao, along with Li Tie and Zhang Xiaorui. When he returned to begin his professional football career in 1998, he joined Shandong Luneng but was unable to break into the team due to injuries, however, he was able to participate in 11 league games and scored 1 goal.

Hao Wei didn’t become a household name until the 1999 league season when he established himself as Shandong’s first-choice right back and helped the team win the league and cup double. Hao Wei’s significance to Shandong faded quickly when new manager Valeri Nepomniachi preferred the emerging Jiao Zhe as his first choice right back and by the end of the 2002 league season, he was allowed to leave.

At the start of the 2003 league season, Hao Wei joined Shanxi Guoli and became an immediate regular, but he was unable to help the team avoid relegation to the second tier. He would leave Shanxi Guoli in 2004 to join Beijing Guoan in a battle for the right-back position with Zhang Shuai for the next two seasons before moving to Changsha Ginde, where he would end his playing career.

    His Tenure On International Level

On April 25, 2000, Hao Wei made his senior debut against Hong Kong in a 1–0 win. Another friendly was scheduled for the 2000 AFC Asian Cup, but he was not selected for the tournament’s final 23-man team.

Hao Wei’s playing time was severely restricted by the arrival of Xu Yunlong and Sun Jihai as favored right backs. When he was called up to participate in a World Cup Qualifier against Malaysia on September 8, 2004, he had no idea that it would be his final outing.

    His Managerial Tenure

As soon as he finished his playing days with Changsha Ginde, he accepted a role as an assistant manager there. He remained in this post until Zhu Bo, the Changsha Ginde head coach, was fired on October 12, 2009, and he was named the new head coach to take his place.

Despite saving the club from the brink of relegation the season before, Hao was unable to turn around the team’s fortunes the following year, and on June 16th, 2010, he was named Miodrag Jei’s assistant coach.

Hao was going to leave Changsha to join the Chinese Women’s team, however, when they failed to qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics and the manager Li Xiaopeng left, Hao was elevated. Because he interfered with a New Zealand player during his team’s last group encounter at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Hao was suspended from the round of 16 matches.

Head Coach Of Deportes Recoleta FC

On February 25, 1979, Felipe Alejandro Nez Becerra was born in Venezuela. He is a Chilean former professional football goalkeeper and current manager of Deportes Recoleta.
He graduated from the University of the Americas in the mid-2010s with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

    His Initial Life Experiences

Nez was born in Venezuela’s Caracas to Chilean parents and raised in Venezuela. Alonso’s coaching of his high school squad during his time in Venezuela made him a household figure in the country’s soccer community. After his parents divorced in 1991, he returned to his native Chile and settled in his grandfather’s house in the Santiago commune of Estación Central.

His Tenure Playing For A Football Club

At the age of fifteen, he began his professional career with the Colo-Colo youth organization. As a result of the club’s insolvency, he left and joined Arturo Fernandez Vial in 2000, a second-tier side. The first-choice goalkeeper for the Concepción-based team, Nez played 32 games and even scored one goal in a 4–1 home triumph over Unión San Felipe during his tenure.

When he moved to Mexico in the middle of 2002, he traveled with Sebastián González, who had just completed his transfer to the top-level team Atlante. However, Chamagol advised Nez to join the club’s subsidiary, Potros Neza, which he did.

Palestino welcomed Nez back to Palestine in 2004, and he joined the group. During his 10 years with the Arab Palestinian community club, he was an indisputable starter and captain. In 2008, he made it to the semifinals of the Torneo Clausura, where he was sent off in the first leg final and was named to the El Gráfico squad of the tournament.

After a falling out with Palestino coach Pablo Guede, he resigned on September 5th, 2014.
Nez joined Huachipato on January 22, 2015, after completing an 18-month deal with the club.

Nez was Chile’s second-choice goalkeeper for both the 1999 South American U-20 Championship and the 2000 Summer Olympics under-23 team.

The Venezuelan Football Federation offered him a contract to play for their national squad in 2012, but he turned it down.

    His Managerial Tenure

Francisco Arrué’s assistant coach with the Chilean Segunda División team Colchagua in 2019. When Deportes Recoleta moved to the same division in 2020, he took over as manager there as well.

    Copa Chile

An annual competition for football teams in Chile is held each year known as the “Copa Chile.” For various reasons, the award was canceled in 2000 but was reinstated in 2008 due to time constraints and club pressure. The Campeonato de Apertura (Opening Championship), which was held from 1933 to 1950, served as its forerunner to the current competition.

From professional clubs (Primera División and Segunda División) down to ANFA sides (Tercera División), the cup is now available to all Chilean football league clubs, regardless of their status.. This was changed in 2015 and since then the winners have gotten an automatic spot in the Copa Libertadores for the following season. Since the season 2009, the winners have gotten a direct spot in the next season’s Copa Sudamericana.

However, because this is a knockout event, it is possible for lower-tier teams to upset top-tier teams in this tournament’s history; this is a fact that has not been lost on anyone.

These clubs were Deportes La Serena (60), Luis Cruz (62), Unión San Felipe (69), and Municipal Iquique (70) when they won in the respective seasons. In 2008, Deportes Ovalle (from the third-tier league) came within one goal of being a finalist but lost 1–2 against Universidad de Concepción in a tense encounter.

Seasons 1979 to 1984, 1986 and 1987, 1989-Invierno, and 1990 were the only seasons in which only first-tier teams participated in the competition.

Universidad de Chile in 2000 and Colo-Colo in 1981, 1989, 1990, and 1996 are the only teams to have won both the league and cup in the same season.

    About The Trophy

A trophy, known as the Copa Chile, is given to the victorious team after each final, which they keep until the next year’s final.

In addition to the Chilean map (circled four times around the trophy), the cup is composed of 8 kg of pure solid silver and features carved agate, Onyx, and lapis lazuli stones.
Forged at Hernán Baeza Rebolledo workshop at the San Miguel Commune in San Miguel, California, in 1974. About a month went into making it.

Along with retaining the trophy for one season, winners receive a little silver plate that is attached to the trophy’s pedestal. The victors’ names and the year of their accomplishments are printed on the badge.

Overview Of The Chilean Primera División

Football in Chile is organized into the Primera División, which is the top category of the competition. The ANFP is responsible for putting it on. For sponsorship reasons, the league is called the Campeonato AFP PlanVital.

    Its Mode Of Operation

Currently, there are 16 teams in the league, each playing two games against the others, both at home and away, during the 2018 season.

Promotion And Demotion In The Division

    Qualification For International Competitions

Campeonato champions and runners-up are automatically eligible for the Copa Libertadores next year. Second and third-place finishers are also eligible. The teams who finish in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh place qualify for the next year’s Copa Sudamericana.

    Attaining Professionalism

Santiago National F.C., Badminton, Colo-Colo, Audax Italiano, Green Cross, Morning Star, Magallanes, and Unión Espanola, created the Liga Profesional de Football de Santiago (LPF) on May 31, 1933.

On June 2, 1933, the Football Federation of Chile recognized the newly created organization.
As part of the first professional competition, Magallanes defeated Colo-Colo in an epic encounter to claim victory.” Federación de Ftbol de Chile had intended for Liga Profesional to rejoin the AFS the following year.

It was agreed that four AFS teams would join the 1934 professional tournament as part of the reunification negotiations: Club Deportivo Ferroviarios; Carlos Walker; Deportivo Alemán; and Santiago FC. In addition, the final six clubs of the 1934 competition were to be eliminated to establish the new second division in 1935. Magallanes won the extended 1934 edition title once more, this time with a record of 10 wins out of 11 games played that year.

    Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Professional

There are 32 associate clubs in the Primera División de Chile and Primera B. The Asociación Nacional de Ftbol Profesional (ANFP) govern them. ANFP acts as the governing body for professional competitions. Additionally, in 2008, it formed the national women’s football league’s first division, which includes 14 teams.

    Its Uses And Structural Formation

When it comes to legality, it’s an entity distinct from the clubs that are part of the Federación de Ftbol Chile, which is a company of deprived rights in its own right. Because of this connection, they linked it to the Chilean Olympic Committee, the CONMEBOL, and FIFA, all of which respect the rules and laws set forth by the International Board of F.A.

    Historical Account

For many years before the ANFP’s formal creation on October 23, 1987, four separate organizations were fulfilling the same responsibilities, albeit at various times and places. Asociación de Ftbol de Santiago (AFS) clubs, found Liga Profesional de Ftbol (LPF) in 1933. The clubs disagreed with the AFS’ policy of paying their players’ salaries. This made it the first national football league that they organized.

A number of dissident clubs, such as Unión Espanola and Bádminton as well as Audax Italiano and Green Cross as well as Morning Star Magallanes, and Santiago National, utilized the percentage of their income that AFS required for the LPF. They couldn’t reach an agreement between the LPF and the AFS, and so the two organizations merged in 1934.

They called it the Sección Profesional de la Asociación Santiago, and three years later, on February 18, 1937, they established the Asociación de Ftbol Profesional. This led to the superseding of Asociación de Ftbol Profesional by the Asociación Central (ACF) in 1938. This served as the governing body of professional soccer until the mid-1980s. Since its founding in 1987, the ANFP has carried on the work of its predecessors.

In summary, the different eras of the organization of professional football in Chile are:
    • 1933: Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF)
    • The 1934-1936: Sección Profesional de la Asociación de Fútbol de Santiago
    • 1937: Asociación de Fútbol Profesional
    • The 1938-1986: Asociación Central de Fútbol (ACF)
    • Since 1987: Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP)

    About The Copa Sudamericana

Every year since 2002, CONMEBOL has held an annual international club football competition known as the Copa Sudamericana, in honor of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana (Spanish pronunciation: [kopa suameikanna]; Portuguese pronunciation: [kpa sulmeikanna]). It is South American football’s second-most prestigious club competition.

Between 2004 and 2008, they invited CONCACAF clubs to participate. 2002 marked the beginning of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana competition, which replaced the two distinct championships Copa Merconorte and the Copa Mercosur.

With each year, the number of rounds and the number of teams who compete have fluctuated, making the competition an elimination tournament.
People consider this event as a merger of the Copa CONMEBOL, Copa Mercosur, and Copa Merconorte tournaments. However, they have discontinued all of them.

In order to participate in the Recopa Sudamericana, a team must win the Copa Sudamericana. They will compete in the J.League Cup / Copa Sudamericana Championship as well as the upcoming edition of the Copa Libertadores, South America’s best club competition.

Athletico Paranaense, a Brazilian team, is the current champion of the championship. This happened after defeating Red Bull Bragantino in the most recent final.

With nine victories, Argentine clubs are the most successful in the competition. Also, they have the most winning teams, with a total of seven winning teams. 17 different clubs have won the title.

Athletes from Argentina, Brazil, and Brazil’s Athletico Paranaense are the most successful in the cup’s history. Also, Boca Juniors and Independiente each won it twice, with the latter winning it back-to-back in 2004 and 2005.

    Background Details

They established the Copa CONMEBOL in 1992. It is an international football tournament for South American clubs. Especially for those that did not qualify for the Copa Libertadores or Supercopa Sudamericano. In 1999, the Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur took their place as the new premier club football competitions in Argentina. They held the tournaments first in 1998. But, they later canceled it due to a lack of interest.

There was a plan to create the Copa Panamericana, a North American club cup competition.

People commonly refer to Deportivo Independiente Medellín as Independiente Medellín or DIM for short. It is a Colombian professional football club based in Medellín and currently competes in the Categoría Primera A. The 40,943 capacity Estadio Atanasio Girardot hosts their home games. Due to Medellín’s geographical location high in the Andes mountains, the team is dubbed “El Poderoso de la Montaña” (Mighty of the Mountain).

Internationally, their best performance was recorded when they reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores in 2003.

    Independiente Medellín’s Background Details

The Initial Events Of The Club

On 14 November 1913, Independiente Medellín was formed, initially called Medellín Foot Ball Club by siblings Alberto, Luis, and Rafael Uribe Piedrahíta. The club suffered a 11-0 defeat in their first match which was against an amateur team called Sporting of Medellín. Independiente Medellín joined professional football and played the first edition of the league in 1948. They won seven matches and finished in seventh place out of ten teams. Their first match was a 4–0 defeat against América de Cali. They recorded their first win against Junior, who they managed to beat 3-2.

Medellín signed Peruvian Segundo Castillo Varela the following decade. He who won the 1939 South American Championship, the first title of his country, in a movement of what was known as El Dorado, when Colombian teams signed many foreign footballers. Due to economic issues, Medellín could not compete in 1952 and 1953. The club restructured its entire administration and it was renamed to its current name, Deportivo Independiente Medellín in 1953.

    The Initial Three Titles

The team finished with 31 points recording just one defeat to win its first title in the 1955 Campeonato Profesional. The tournament’s highest goalscorer was  Argentine striker Felipe Marino, with 22 goals. Two years later, with almost the same player as the previous seasons, the team won its second title. The highest goalscorer in the tournament this time was  José Vicente Grecco.

Medellín finished the league as runners-up to achieve their first-ever qualification for the Copa Libertadores in 1966. They faced Argentine sides Racing de Avellaneda and River Plate , Bolivian teams 31 de Octubre and Bolívar, and fellow Colombians Independiente Santa Fe. Unfortunately, they were eliminated after they finished fifth out of six in their group. However, after 27 years, they qualified for the Copa Libertadores again in 1994. They could not make it past the quarter-finals as they were once again eliminated, this time by Junior.

In 1981, Independiente Medellin won its first Copa Colombia. This title is recognized by CONMEBOL,  although,  it is not officially recognized by many experts nor by DIMAYOR.

    About The 1989 Season Controversy

Medellín had one of the best teams in the league and was expected to win the title in 1989. However, a tragic event occurred in Colombian football. Medellín tied América de Cali 0–0 at home in one of the final matches of the season. Linesman Álvaro Ortega disallowed a Medellín goal during the game and this provoked many fans.  Afterward, the linesman mas tracked down and murdered by a person that had been reportedly sent by Pablo Escobar.  An anonymous caller said they had betted on the game and the disallowed goal made them lose a lot of money. As a result, the season was canceled by the Colombian Football Federation. Therefore, there was no winner in the 1989 league season.

The Club As The 1993 runner-up

On 19 December 1993, Medellín and Atlético Junior who had the same number of points were battling for a first-place finish in the last game of the season. Simultaneously, Junior was playing América de Cali at home in Barranquilla while Medellín played hometown rivals Atlético Nacional. Medellín would win the title if their win combined with a Junior loss or draw. But, Junior will win the title if Medellín and Junior drew their matches.

At halftime, América took the lead in the title race as they were leading the game in Barranquilla 1–0. Whereas,  in Medellin the game was still 0–0. Simultaneously, Medellín scored to put their game at 1-0 while  Junior scored two goals to put the game at 2–1 with ten minutes remaining. Medellín saw the match through with a 1-0 victory while  América tied the game at 2–2 with seven minutes still remaining due to a delay at the beginning of the second half.

Medellín players were already celebrating and granting interviews with reporters while they waited to be crowned Champions after the final whistle in Barranquilla. Dramatically,  Oswaldo Mackenzie netted a late goal in the 89th minute which won Junior the game at 3–2 win and the title. This left Medellín players and fans heartbroken and in shock.

The Club Going Back To Winning Way From 2001–2009

Due to Jorge Serna’s goals, the team came close to winning their third league title in 2001. He went on to finish as the highest goalscorer tied with Carlos Castro on 29 goals. However, the final was lost 3-0 on aggregate to América de Cali 3–0. Although, they reached the final in an unexpected manner; in the regular season they finished in 10th place and occupied the last seed for the eight teams that qualified for the playoffs through the aggregate table.

Medellín finally won its third league title in the 2002 Finalización tournament after 45 long years. They achieved this under manager Victor Luna, who replaced Reinaldo Rueda mid-season after he was sacked due to poor results. Medellín faced Deportivo Pasto in the two-legged final. A goal from Robinson Muñoz and an own goal from Julio César Valencia saw El Rojo Paisa beat Pasto 2–0 at home in the first leg. On 23 December 2002, Medellín drew 1–1 away from home in the second leg. Medellín’s  goal was from Mauricio Molina who scored from a free-kick to make them become champions with a 3–1 aggregate score.

This win gave them automatic qualification to the 2003 Copa Libertadores. They finished top of their group which consisted of Boca Juniors, Barcelona S.C., and Colo-Colo, with twelve points and a total of four wins and two losses. As a result, they advanced to the knockout stage. During the group stage, the club famously beat Carlos Bianchi’s Boca Juniors 1–0. In the knockout stage “Medallo” beat Cerro Portenõ  on penalties and went on to defeat Grêmio in the quarter-finals.

    More Information

They faced Santos in the Semi-finals. DIM lost 1-0 in the first leg played at Estádio Urbano Caldeira.  Tressor Moreno scored first in the second leg to level the aggregate score at 1–1. However, they were eventually eliminated after losing the game 3–2 (4–2 on aggregate). They narrowly missed out on the final, which would have been played against their group stage opponent, Boca Juniors.

Medellín and Nacional advanced to the final of the Apertura tournament in 2004. This was the first “Paisa” final in the league’s history, therefore, everybody was excited in Antioquia. The Atanasio Girardot hosted the two legged final.  Medellín won 2–1 with goals scored by Rafael Castillo and Jorge Horacio Serna, in the first leg. On 27 June, the second leg ended in a goalless draw, and Medellín became the champion of the 2004 Apertura. It was their fourth league title and they achieved this under manager Pedro Sarmiento.

The club topped their group which comprises of Atletico Paranaense, América de Cali, and Libertad, in the 2005 Copa Libertadores. Surprisingly, they defeated Paranaense 4–0 away in Curitiba to advance to the round of 16. Unfortunately, Banfield eliminated them after they lost  5–0 on aggregate.

    Foot Note

The club led by Santiago Escobar as a head coach almost won its fifth title in the 2008 Finalization. But they lost the final to  América de Cali. The team finished in last place after a poor performance in the 2009 Apertura. Santiago Escobar’s assistant, Leonel Álvarez, replaced him as head coach. and the team went on to win their fifth title, the 2009 Torneo Finalización. They played in the finals against Atlético Huila.  Jackson Martinez broke the league’s top scoring record with 18 goals (the previous record was Léider Preciado’s 17 goals) , that season. Cortuluá forward Miguel Borja broke that record with 19 goals in 2016.

2010–present: Consistently Runner-ups And Emerging Sixth League Title

DIM was very close to winning league titles on several occasions during the 2010’s decade.  They lost on penalties to Millonarios in the Torneo Finalización final in 2012. In 2014, they finished as runners-up to Independiente Santa Fe in that year’s Finalización tournament. Six months later, they lost the final to Deportivo Cali. The club finally won its sixth league title in the 2016 season.  They played Junior in the finals of the Apertura tournament; the first leg ended 1–1 in Barranquilla and the Medellín won 2–0 in the second leg to secure a 3-1 aggregate victory. Christian Marrugo scored a brace.

In 2017, DIM returned to the Copa Libertadores after a seven-year absence. They stood in Group 3 which consisted of teams like River Plate, Emelec, and Melgar. They finished third and couldn’t advance to the knockout stage. They transferred them to the Copa Sudamericana, where they eventually lost to Racing Club  in the second round. Impressively, they beat powerhouse River Plate 2–1 at Estadio Monumental in the Copa Libertadores.

The Background Details Of Beijing Guoan F.C.

    Initial Events Of The Club

To compete in China’s first nationalized national football league event, the local government sports body formed a football squad with the finest players from Beijing and Tianjin to form the North China team in 1951.

For the 1910 Chinese National Games, the team’s name was borrowed from the football squad representing the same regions. Second-year players from Beijing and Tianjin were allowed to secede and join a new club, Beijing Football Club, in 1955 after a fourth-place finish in their first season in a growing football league.

During the 1956 season, the team sported an all white home shirt and a red away kit. In 1956, the club was allowed to enter its youth squad, Beijing Youth B, who went on to win the league championship while Beijing finished sixth. As a result of their success in 1957 and 1958, the club consolidated its position in the next two seasons.

Because of these victories, the club had become a major force in Chinese football, and with the club’s youth squad still competing in the top division, there was a continual supply of players coming into the team to compete for positions. Then, due to its location in the nation’s capital and its on-field success, the club has established itself as a stepping stone for the Chinese national team.

    More Information

When the club couldn’t complete a full championship schedule, the youth team was frequently used to represent the club, which did little to diminish Beijing football and actually resulted in the youth team winning the 1963 championship for the second time, showing the strength in depth of the region until 1966 when the Chinese Cultural Revolution halted football in the country.

After the reintroduction of football to China in 1973, Beijing was crowned champion of the newly formed league. It wasn’t until 1982, when they won the league championship and the Chinese FA Cup, that Beijing regained their status as a serious contender for major trophies.

However, Beijing’s success in the top tier was short-lived after this period, as they were relegated to China’s second tier and promoted to the first tier at the end of season 1990 after their performances appeared to have dropped.

Until Beijing FC was granted full professional status in 1992, it had won the league championship five times during the old Chinese National Football League era.

The Club As A Professional Side

December 29, 1992 marked the beginning of China’s football reform, with the creation of Beijing Guoan. This is a move by the Chinese Football Association to professionalize the country’s leagues. The CITIC Guoan of the CITIC Group, a Chinese state-owned corporation, and the Beijing Municipal Sports Committee collaborated to form the team.

As a founding member of China’s first completely professional top tier league in 1994, the club changed their home colors to green to represent the transition. Manager Tang Pengju was dismissed of his responsibilities after Beijing’s first professional season ended in eighth place.

When Jin Zhiyang was brought in to lead the team in 1995, the results were enough to put them in the second-place position. Beijing won their first professional prize the next season under Jin Zhiyang’s guidance, as he defeated Jinan Taishan Jiangjun 4-1 in the 1996 Chinese FA Cup finals.

Following a 2–1 victory over Shanghai Shenhua, Jin Zhiyang was given a position with the Chinese national team by the Chinese FA, which impressed him and convinced him to leave Beijing. As an assistant coach, Shen Xiangfu assumed the manager’s post and led the team to third place, but he departed the club in his second season when they dropped from third to sixth place in the division.

    Impact Of Foreigners

Beijing’s first foreign manager, Serbian Milovan Doric, took over at the start of the 2000 league season. Having lost his first three games of the season, he was quickly replaced by native coach Wei Kexing, whose tenure lasted only a few weeks. Ljupko Petrovi was Beijing’s second foreign manager when the 2002 league season began.

When the team secured a three-year endorsement arrangement with jointly owned South Korean corporation Beijing Hyundai, the club’s name was changed to Beijing Hyundai to accommodate this. Negotiations for a football development initiative between Real Madrid and Beijing began in 2005.

It was Lee Jang-soo, who had previously won the Chinese FA Cup with Chongqing Lifan and Qingdao Beilaite during the 2007 season, who was hired as manager. A second-place league finish in his inaugural season was achieved by the South Korean manager. During Lee Jang-tenure soo’s as manager, the team returned to the Workers Stadium after the stadium underwent renovations for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

On September 15, 2009, a 2–0 loss to Changchun Yatai saw the club drop to third place and Lee Jang-soo, fired with seven games to go. This effectively ended the club’s hopes of earning its first professional league title. When former Beijing player Hong Yuanshuo returned to the team, Beijing crushed Hangzhou Greentown 4–0 on the final day of the season to win the 2009 league championship.

    The Possession Of The Club

In spite of emerging from the CITIC Guoan Group, the football club belonged to CITIC Corp., Ltd., another CITIC Group company. Since 2012, it has been a Beijing-based SPV for a prospective listing in China. They announced in 2014 that CITIC Guoan Group isn’t a subsidiary of CITIC Group. This will happen when other investors feel encouraged to purchase the additional shares.

Since the whole share capital of “CITIC Corp.” indirectly floated in a stock exchange by CITIC Group’s Hong Kong subsidiary CITIC Pacific (renaming to CITIC Limited) in 2014, the stake in the football club indirectly floated as well.

Sinobo Group, a Chinese real estate corporation, became the club’s largest shareholder on January 10, 2017, after participating in the club’s capital increase on December 27th, 2016. CN 75 million to CN 208.33 million, according to a Chinese government database, making Sinobo Group hold 64.00 percent of the interest with a CN 133.33 million par value and an unknown premium in the club’s share capital. Beijing Sinobo Guoan F.C. Co., Ltd. was the club’s new name as of the same date.

An Overview Of Henan Songshan Longmen F.C.

Henan Songshan Longmen Football Team (Chinese: originally known as Jianye Football Club (Chinese: is a professional football club that presently competes in the Chinese Super League under license from China’s Football Association (FA) (CFA).

The team’s home stadium, the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium, has a capacity of 29,860 people and is located in the province of Henan, where Zhengzhou is located. The Jianye Residential Group (China) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Central China Real Estate Limited, is the company behind these properties. Their name derives from Jianye, a former name for Jiankang, a historic city.

His predecessor, the 1958-founded Henan Provincial Team, before his successor, the 1994-founded Henan Professional Football Team. The team has never won a league championship, and their best finish was third place in the 2009 Chinese Super League.

A Chronology Of Henan Songshan Longmen FC

Henan Provincial team was created in 1958 by the local government sports body to participate in the 1959 Chinese National Games before joining the progressively increasing Chinese football league system.

Until the late 1970s, when the league was enlarged to accommodate additional clubs, the squad spent most of its time in the second tier. Although Henan found themselves in the third division when they were relegated from the second division in the 1981 league season, they were able to return to it quickly when they finished first to win promotion in the 1982 league season. The Chinese football league system expanded to include a third division in 1987.

As soon as the 1985 season came around, they were back in the top division, where they stayed until 1988, at which point, they were demoted. To keep pace with the rest of Chinese football’s professionalization by the 1994 season, the Henan Construction Football Club sold a 40% stake to Jianye Residential Group (China) Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Henan Construction Football Club.

    Relegation To Division 3

At the end of the 1994 season, Henan was demoted to the third division for the second time in three seasons. When they finished second in the league in 1995, they had to win promotion from the third division once again. To put it another way: Henan Jianye Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. took over the club on January 15, 1999, after several seasons as a second-tier team fighting relegation from the Chinese league. After winning the division and re-establishing themselves in the second tier, the club would benefit from its secure financial position.

At the completion of the 2006 league season, the club was promoted to the Chinese Super League after winning the division title. To avoid relegation in their first season of professional football in China’s top division, Henan hired Pei Encai, an experienced manager, to help with the team’s management and help them end the season in 12th place, narrowly overcoming Changchun Yatai 3–2.

Tang Yaodong was able to keep Henan out of relegation in the 2008 league season, however Henan’s demands for success prompted them to choose three new managers before settling on Tang Yaodong. They hired him and were extremely happy with his performance. In fact, his tenure there resulted in the team’s highest ever league finish: third place in 2009.

Henan Jianye In AFC Champions League

Since then, Henan Jianye has appeared in the AFC Champions League once, after changing its English name to Henan Jianye but keeping its Chinese one. Henan finished the group stage of the tournament with three draws and three losses, and the club’s performance declined from year to year after that. They were 13th in the league in 2011 after the regular season concluded. Following a disorganized and disappointing 2012 season, the team was relegated to the second tier.

To help the team get back to the Chinese Super League following the season, Henan rehired Tang Yaodong in 2013. By midway through the 2014 season, his team’s dismal performance led him to be fired once more. We’ve got new boss, Jia Xiuquan! In the final game of the season, the team put in a strong effort against Beijing Guoan. In the end, the team only needed a single point to stay in the Chinese Super League.

An Overview Of Zhejiang Professional F.C.

A professional Chinese football club, Zhejiang FC or simply Zhejiang, is licensed by the Chinese Football Association to compete in the Chinese Super League. The club’s pinyin name is Zhejiang Zhyè Zqi Jùlèbù in both simplified and traditional Chinese (CFA). The Hangzhou Huanglong Stadium, which can hold 52,672 people, is the team’s home stadium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.

Zhejiang’s Greentown China Holdings Limited and Zhejiang Energy Group are the club’s primary backers. Green Town F.C. was established on January 14, 1998, as Zhejiang Green Town F.C., and they made their professional football league debut in 1999. Yanbian Funde F.C. (then Jilin Aodong) purchased the Chinese Football Association Jia League playing rights and 32 first-team players for 25 million Yuan on November 23, 2000.

Their highest position ever was fourth place in the 2010 CFA Super League season, following promotion to the top division after placing second in the 2006 league season. It’s still Zhejiang’s best football team.

A Background Account Of Zhejiang Professional F.C.

As of January 14, 1998, Zhejiang Green Town Football Club Co., Ltd. had a capital of 16,000,000 Yuan and Zeng Leming had been named general manager. Several companies, including Greentown Real Estate, Hangzhou Qiantang Real Estate, Zhejiang University, and Zhejiang Provincial Football Association, were involved in the club’s founding and registration.

On January 22, 1999, the corporation formed a senior team to compete in the third tier, with Bao Yingfu as their first head coach. Despite losing to Tianjin Life in the playoffs in 2000, they had already shown their desire.

The club was so determined to gain promotion that on November 23, 2000, it paid 25,000,000 Yuan for the playing rights to the Chinese Football Association Jia League and 32 players from Yanbian F.C. (then Jilin Aodongfirst )’s team, just in time for the start of the 2001 league season. Gu Mingchang took over as head coach after Shen Qiang was promoted to general manager, but the club failed to make the top division under his watch and chairman Song Weiping expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance.

Several of Song Weiping’s players and coaches were found to be taking bribes, with a 6–0 loss to Changchun Yatai in the 2001 league season being highlighted, which resulted in the offending participants being banned for a year while the club had three months to reform and reapply for a CFA playing license.

    More Information

After Zhejiang University held on to 4% of the squad, Greentown China Holdings Limited purchased a 96% stake in the team for 20,000,000 Yuan in 2005, and Song Weiping’s company took control of the remaining 6%.
It was under the leadership of Wang Zheng that the team began to consistently strive for promotion, culminating in their second-place finish in the 2006 league season.

However, in the 2009 league season, the club found itself in the relegation zone despite bringing in a number of new managers in an attempt to alleviate their relegation worries. Chengdu Blades and Guangzhou GPC were found guilty of match-fixing in the 2010 CFA Super League, but the team was allowed to remain in the competition.

To avoid relegation, the team splashed out and signed established Chinese internationals such Du Wei, Li Yan, and Wang Song on free transfers. When they were all in place in 2010, the club had its best-ever league season, finishing fourth, and qualified for the AFC Champions League for the first time ever thanks to their new additions.

It’s no secret that the football academy and youngster training facilities at this organization are among the best anywhere. However, after finishing second-to-last in the 2016 CFA super league with only 8 victories in 30 games, they were demoted to the China League.

Targeting The National Games Of China

Hangzhou Greentown, aiming to win the football competition at the 2017 National Games of China, established a more extreme youngster-first policy than ever before. A good heartfelt wish went unrewarded.

In their debut season in the China League, the team was close to the relegation zone, while the Zhejiang squad’s young players watched the championship slip away in the final. After Hong Myung-bo stepped down as manager, the squad was guided by young trainer Xu Lei, who eventually led them to ninth place in the league. Jiao Fengbo, a former player and veteran, has also been named the new general manager of the team, reports the AP.

    Foot Note

As a celebration of the club’s 20th anniversary, Zhejiang Greentown FC became Zhejiang Greentown F.C. on January 14, 2018. That same season, they finished third in China League, almost missing a return to CFA Super League status.
After Zhejiang Energy Group became a big shareholder and Song Weiping announced his resignation from the club in September 2020, the team changed its name to Zhejiang Energy Greentown F.C.

In accordance with the Chinese Football Association‘s requirements for non-corporate name changes, the club changed its name to Zhejiang Professional Football Club on February 26th, 2021, following several rounds of discussion and reporting to the relevant provincial departments and the Chinese Football Association for review and approval.

    FC Future

Originally branded as Coca-Cola FC, Future Football Club is an Egyptian professional football team with its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Presently, the club competes in Egypt’s top division of football, the Egyptian Premier League.

    Background Of Future FC

From its founding in 2011 until 2021, the club was held by The Coca-Cola Company’s Egyptian division.

For the first occasion in their existence, Coca-Cola was promoted to the 2021–22 Egyptian Premier League during their final campaign under that name after winning their division in the 2020–21 Egyptian Second Division.

The club was purchased by Future firm for sports investments on September 2, 2021, and was given the new name Future FC. The estimated purchase price was £E80 million (about €4 million).

    Future FC Head Coach

Ali Maher, an erstwhile football striker from Egypt, was born on December 3, 1973 in Arabic. He presently serves as Future FC’s head coach (Egypt).

Maher was a member of the Al Ahly team that won the 2001 CAF Champions League.

    International work experience

Maher participated in a number of games for the Egypt national football team, such as qualifiers for the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups. Additionally, he represented Egypt at the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, where he netted a goal in the group phase against Cameroon.

    Premier League of Egypt

The Egyptian Premier League, as well referred as WE Egyptian Premier Competition (WE EPL) upon the introduction of title sponsor WE, is the highest level in the Egyptian football league system and a professional association football league in Egypt. The league, which consists of 18 teams, uses the Egyptian Second division as an advancement and demotion structure. The majority of seasons span from August through May. In contrast to most other leagues, every match is held every day of the week.

The local leagues that had functioned earlier were combined when the Egyptian Premier League was established in 1948. Since its inception, the league has had 70 clubs in competition.

More often than any other club, Al Ahly has won the championship 42 times. Zamalek, their main adversary, has claimed the league 13 times. Only 5 other teams—Ghazl El Mahalla, Ismaily, Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Olympic Club, and Tersana—have claimed the league.

As per CAF’s 5-Year Ranking for the 2022–23 season, which is predicated on results in African tournaments over the previous 5 seasons, the Egyptian Premier League is one of the top national leagues and is placed 2nd in Africa. Al Ahly was voted the African Club of the Century by CAF, and Egyptian teams have claimed the CAF Champions League a record 16 times.

The CAF Confederation Cup has also been claimed by 2 clubs.

Prior to the Port Said Stadium Riot on 1 February 2012, which happened after a league game between Al Masry and Al Ahly, the Egyptian Premier League had one of the highest average stadium attendances in Africa and the Middle East. 74 deaths were reported and more than 500 were wounded.

Since that time, all domestic football games have been played behind locked doors. However, in 2017, local security officials began to permit fan base to join a chosen number of games, beginning with just 100 spectators.

    Egyptian Premier League’s past

When Egypt was under British control, association football was brought to the country.

El Sekka El Hadid, which was established in 1903, was the country’s first football club.

The Sultan Hussein Cup was established in 1917, and although English clubs first ruled it, Egyptian clubs rapidly overtook them.

Beginning in 1922, the Egypt Cup featured no teams from the United Kingdom.

The Cairo Zone Competition, the country’s first significant football league made up of clubs from Cairo, kicked off play in 1922. Shortly after, 3 further leagues in Alexandria, on the Suez Canal, and an unrecognized league in “Bahary” started. The teams Al-Ahly and Zamalek started to take over at this point, routinely earning the Cairo Zone Competition and the Egypt Cup.

Together with the other 3 leagues, the Cairo Zone Contest came under the jurisdiction of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in 1938. The Cairo League was given a new name after the Cairo Zone Competition, however other than that, little happened until the middle of the 1940s. Instead of numerous local leagues, the EFA believed that a national league was required. King Farouk I was given the suggestion by the president of the EFA, who was also a huge football lover. Royal edict established the Egyptian Premier League, which started competition in 1948.

    Contest

The Egyptian Premier League has 18 teams. August through May are the months of the season. Each team faces the other two times through the span of the season, for a number of 34 matches, once at their home stadium and once at their rivals’.

Teams score 3 points when they triumph, and one point when they tie. For a defeat, there are no points given. The order of the teams is determined by overall points, head-to-head record between the teams, goal difference, and then goals produced. The team with the most points at the close of each season is proclaimed winner. If the teams have an equal number of points, the victor is decided by the head-to-head record between them, followed by goal differential and goals generated. The 3 teams with the lowest final standings are demoted to the Egyptian Second League.

3 groups make up the Egyptian Second League; the group champion advances. Since 2015, there has been a consistent system set up; prior to that, the number of teams and demotion spots fluctuated.

An Overview Of América de Cali

Colombian professional football club América de Cali S. A., also known as América de Cali or just América, is based in Cali. It plays in Colombia’s top-tier football competition, the Categora Primera A. The Estadio Olmpico Pascual Guerrero, where the squad plays its home games, is a national landmark.

The América Football Club was created in 1918 and is the ancestor of Colombia’s oldest football club, the América Football Club, which was founded in 1927. It is also one of Colombia’s most successful clubs, both domestically and internationally, regarded as one of the country’s strongest and most consistent clubs.

As well as a Copa Libertadores final appearance in each of the last four years, América has won 15 league championships and a second-division tournament crown (including three in a row from 1985 to 1987). It has won two international tournaments, the Copa Simón Bolvar in 1975 and the Copa Merconorte in 1999, despite never winning the Copa Libertadores.

For the first time in its existence, América was demoted to the second tier of Colombian football, the Categora Primera B. After winning the Primera B championship in 2016, they returned to the top division for a total of five seasons.
América and Deportivo Cali, its crosstown rivals, have a long history of rivalry.

    More Information

The “Clásico Vallecaucano” refers to matches between the two. Atlético Nacional, Millonarios, and Independiente Santa Fe are among the other key rivals. According to the International Football Federation’s High Performance Study (IFFHS), América was the world’s second-best football club in 1996, behind only Juventus of Italy. In the IFFHS’s world rankings of the greatest clubs of all time, it is ranked 37th, making it the highest-ranked Colombian team in the rankings.

Additionally, the club has been voted as the finest Colombian club of the twentieth century and the sixth best Colombian club thus far in the twenty-first century. Additionally, América is considered the second greatest Colombian team in CONMEBOL club tournaments and ranks 36th in the official Copa Libertadores club rankings.

América de Cali: A Historical Overview

    The Initial Events

América de Cali got its start in 1918 as a school team called América FC, created by pupils of Colegio Santa Librada to compete against other schools. In 1919, they won the Copa Centenario Batalla de Boyacá, which was one of the first championships in Colombian football history. After a short time, the group disbanded.

Since then, a number of clubs in Cali have developed under a variety of names. Racing Club, named after the Argentine squad of the same name, was the most prominent. As with the Argentine team, this one wore light blue shirts with white vertical stripes. The uniforms, on the other hand, were disbanded along with the club in 1925.

Hernán Zamorano Isaacs was the first president of the newly created organization, which was formally established on February 13 of that year. Scarlet and white were chosen as the colors of their flag, which they referred to as “América.” The origins of this moniker and these hues are shrouded in mystery, but América has been associated with scarlet ever since.

The First Years Of The Club

Afterward, América and local rivals Cali FC organised a playoff to determine which team would play in Colombia’s premier league (then known as the Liga de Ftbol), which was then known as the Liga de Ftbol. Cali’s 1–0 victory over América was marred by the disallowance of two of the team’s goals. América and Deportivo Cali were only getting started in their rivalry, and this game marked the beginning of a bitter one.

Even though América was unable to participate in the national competition, the team still embarked on a lengthy national tour in 1931, playing games across the country and earning a national reputation. They were one of Columbia’s strongest national teams for the next decade and a half. Benjamin Urrea, also known as Garabato (the scribbling, or the doodle) for his little stature and nimbleness, was one of their best players.

The Deadlock And The Professional Era

1948 was a turning point for professionalization in Columbian football. Garabato, whose playing days were numbered, was opposed to the idea. Legend has it that Garabato cursed América when they decided to enter the league anyhow, predicting that they would never win a championship.

Garabato’s curse had nothing to do with América’s poor performance in the Colombian tournament, but there were other factors at play.
The team’s finances slipped far behind those of its league competitors. In the El Dorado era (1949–54), Colombian clubs were exceptionally aggressive in signing players from all across South America. América, on the other hand, was unable to achieve the same result. As a result of financial constraints, the club could only manage a sixth-place finish in the 1950s and even missed the 1953 event.

Boca Juniors de Cali, a rival club in the city, was the only one to fold throughout the decade. Adolfo Pedernera was hired as manager of Los Diablos Rojos in 1960 in an attempt to make a big splash. Pedernera led the team to their best-ever finish as runners-up in 1961.

América’s dynamic has been radically altered as a result of this season. The team was no longer at risk of folding, despite not competing for another championship for six years. As the decade came to a close, they began to establish themselves as one of Colombia’s most formidable teams. They finished third in 1967 with a twenty-two match unbeaten streak. The team placed second in the 1968 Finalización event and again in the 1969 Apertura competition.

    More Information

Hugo Lóndero‘s 24 goals last season not only set a Colombian record, but also qualified América for the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history. Sadly, they eliminated them at the first group stage. Two runners-up finishes in the 1970s were the club’s high points in a largely disappointing decade. In 1976, América triumphed in the Copa Simón Bolvar (an international tournament that included clubs from Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Paraguay).

There were no Colombian championships, though. It took until 1960 for América to to finish runner-up in the Colombian championship, and the team didn’t play in its first Copa Libertadores until 1969.

The Head Coach Of América de Cali

Costa Rican football manager and former footballer Alexandre Henrique Borges Guimares was born on November 7, 1959, in San Jose, Costa Rica. América de Cali currently has him in charge as their manager.
For the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Guimaraes played for the Costa Rican national team. He became their manager in 2002 and 2006, in Brazil. In addition, he played for Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates, Tianjin Teda in China, and Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica. He is presently playing for Alajuelense with his son Celso Borges.

His Tenure For A Football Club

Guimares was born in the northeastern Brazilian city of Maceió, Alagoas, and moved to Costa Rica with his family when he was twelve years old in 1971. He became a citizen of Costa Rica in 1980. Also, he was an All-Star basketball player for Asturias, but Guimares began his professional football career with Durpanel San Blas in the second division, where he scored 16 goals and led the league in goals. He played for Deportivo Saprissa, Municipal Puntarenas, and Turrialba.

It took him 377 official matches and 95 goals to win national championships with Saprissa three times in a row from 1982-1989.

    His Tenure On International Level

On March 15, 1985, Guimaraes made his Costa Rican debut, and he went on to make 16 appearances in total, scoring two goals. To qualify for the 1990 FIFA World Cup, he starred in five matches for his country and appeared in three matches during the tournament. That World Cup’s Round of 16 encounter against Czechoslovakia was his final appearance for the United States.

    About His Managerial Career

One of Costa Rica’s most successful managers after retiring from playing. Coached at both Belén and Herediano in the summer of 1996 and had great success with both. Saprissa, where he worked for numerous years, won three national tournaments with him.

He joined Cartaginés in June 2003. It was a disastrous stay that ended in November 2003. This happened when the team almost relegated to the second-tier. Also, they were in financial difficulties due to excessive salaries of players who had not shown their potential. He has also coached a number of international teams, including Comunicaciones of Guatemala, Irapuato, and Dorados de Sinaloa in Mexico, among many others.

Costa Rica’s national team, and as a coach, he led them to a near-perfect World Cup qualifying record in 2002. For not making it to the second round, they club replaced Guima as national team head coach. In the future, though, he would retake his position, but he will manage a National team that was in a horrible state.

However, he led Costa Rica to the 2006 World Cup, after which he resigned from the team due to the team’s dismal performance in the tournament.
They announced his appointment as the head coach of the Panama national football team on November 7, 2006. Remarkably, it was his 47th birthday. They club fired him in June, 2008. It was in April 2009 that he left his home in the United States for the Middle East to take on a new challenge as coach of Al Wasl FC, a well-known United Arab Emirates club.

    More Information

He won the Gulf Clubs Championship with Al Wasl in a final versus Qatar SC, which was the first and only international honor for this football club. Al Dhafra was his next stop, which he took in 2010. He returned to Saprissa in May 2011 for a one-year stint. On June 1, 2012, Tianjin Teda of the Chinese Super League officially announced the signing of Guimaraes as their new head coach. This happened after they sacked the Croatian coach, Josip Kue. Guimaraes completed the first season with excellent results, emerging from the bottom of the table to near the top positions of the table.

After receiving a 6-point penalty in the mid-2000s, the team had to fight to finish in a comfortable position before his second season, which it did. Contract renewal negotiations were unsuccessful for Guimaraes. They replaced Nicolas Anelka as Mumbai City FC‘s head coach with Guimaraes on April 19th, 2016. This happened in the Indian Super League (ISL). August of 2018 marked his last month in the post.

They club, América de Cali, brought a new manager on June 17th of this year. After leading Cali to their 14th championship in 2019, they named him coach of the year by the Colombian Football Federation. The final was a two-game match against Junior de Barranquilla, which took place in the city of Cartagena. No one scored in the first leg in Baranquilla. American team A defeated team B 2–0 during the second leg in Cali.

His Way And Style Of Life

Dr. Luis de Souza Borges and Mara Alice Guimares are the parents of his three siblings. He married Lina Mora and has two children, Mauro and Celso. Both of them play for the Costa Rican national team and for La Liga side Deportivo de La Corua as of the 2017–18 season.

The Stadium Of América de Cali

In honor of Colombian poet Pascual Guerrero, Santiago de Cali, Colombia’s Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero serves as a football stadium as well as hosting sporting events, concerts, and rugby sevens. The stadium and the surrounding sports complex were one of Latin America’s finest and most contemporary sports complexes from the 1950s through the 1970s, leading to allusions to Cali as “America’s Sports Capital.”.

There had been an Estadio Galilea in Cali’s Versailles neighborhood where the first national athletics competition held back in 1928. They built the “Pascual” to replace it. To this day, they hold sporting activities both at home and abroad at the Pascual.

Due to FIFA’s U-20 World Cup in Colombia repairs in 2011, the capacity dropped from 60,000 to 35,000 persons. América de Cali, Atlético de Cali, and Boca Juniors de Cali call it home. Also, Deportivo Cali played there until 2015. Then, they moved to a new stadium.

    The Stadium’s Origin and Development

In 1935, the poet Pascual Guerrero requested that they build a stadium on the land that he offered the department. The “Estadio Departamental” stadium first opened for business on July 20, 1937. They inaugurated the stadium with a quadrangular tournament between Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, and Colombia. President Alfonso López Pumarejo was in attendance.

On the occasion of the city of Cali’s 400th anniversary, they commissioned the new stadium. After that, something happened on November 4, 1957. The Valle del Cauca government granted the Universidad del Valle ownership of the complete sports complex as a gift. Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Government subsequently recognized it. The stadium hosted its first professional football event in 1948 and the National Sports Games VII in 1954.

They added Olympic swimming pools to the complex. Which subbed for “Sports Complex San Fernando.”
They renovated the stadium and adapted to Olympic standards in 1967. This happened when they chose Cali to host the VI Pan American Games.

There are 8 lanes of Tartan Synthetic. They have the pit and areas for testing for shot put/hammer/long-jump/pole vault on the track he built. Remarkably, they increased the stadium‘s capacity to 45,000 people. Also, they added conditioned lights and an electronic bulletin board. As a result of the 1954 National Games reform, they constructed the Sports Unit of San Fernando. It is now a part of the Pacific Sports Unit, which will host the VI Pan American Games in 1971.

    More Information

They completely renovated the Synthetic Tartan track. This is in accordance with the criteria for the 1995 Pacific Ocean Games. It stood as part of the permitted physical modifications for the event.

In 1999, they started work on renovating the stadium‘s north grandstand. This began after they closed it down due to years of deterioration. Additionally, they are to set some things in place for the Copa America games next year. So, they made additional renovations to its facilities based on approval in 2000. These included the correction of structural and locational problems. Also, additional space for the sporting community.

They renovated the synthetic track in numerous places in 2005. This happened due to the organization of the 43rd South American Championships in Athletics. It required the use of a material certified by the International Athletics Federation IAAF, Sport Flex. Thus, the track federation confirms and accepts new trademarks submitted as official.
Tracks, fields, pools, and arenas have been under construction since October 2006 in preparation for the National Games of 2008.

The remodeled the World Cup U-20, which they will contest in Colombia in 2011, at great expense in 2009. They mentioned new seats, renovated dressing rooms and boxes. Also, they mentioned VIP sections, huge screen or electronic board and some subterranean parking in the south grandstand.

    Foot Note

They officially launched it on December 10 of that year. This happened in the presence of Coldeportes’ mayor and the president of the shipping company. There was a total of 16 months of development in the south grandstand area of the stadium. Meanwhile, they expanded the capacity of the stadium to 45,312 seats.

They completed the refurbishment in time for the 2011 U-20 World Cup. Also, they utilized the Calatrava trusses to support a fabric or membrane construction. Engineers at Fractal Structural Engineering and Arq. Roberto Muoz of Dunn Mexico designed the fabric, and Arq. Roberto Muoz of Dunn Mexico designed the steel Calatrava trusses.

    Butmir Training Centre

The training ground of FK Sarajevo is the Football Club Sarajevo – Butmir Training Centre (Bosnian : Trening center Fudbalskog kluba Sarajevo – Butmir). The camp which comprises several sports facilities was officially opened after the first stage of construction was completed on 24 October 2015. It is located in the neighborhood of Butmir, which is part of the Ilidža municipality in Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. Presently, the second of three construction phases is underway, in process of expanding the center.

    Background

The absence of a club-owned training facility was hindering the club’s goals and Independency when  Vincent Tan acquired the club’s management rights in late 2013. The component facilities of the municipality-owned Asim Ferhatović Hase Stadium were used by FK Sarajevo. It was considered primitive and restricted full organizational and financial independence. As a result, the club management led by Tan and the Berjaya Group went in search of a location for the construction of new and modern facilities.

Due to its close proximity to the Sarajevo International Airport and the suburb of Ilidža, the Butmir neighborhood was picked. Also, because of the already existing training grounds used by a private football academy run by former FK Sarajevo captain Predrag Pašić.  The club acquired the 17-acre (70,000 square meters) land plot from the Ilidža municipality and a local agricultural coop, who were joint owners.  On 24 December 2014, an agreement was signed with construction contractors for the first phase of construction to commence in July. In August 2015, the first phase of construction was completed, costing allegedly 8 million KM. The facilities were granted a FIFA PRO license on 14 December 2015.

    Facilities And Structures

The entry gate of the training center leads to a large plaza, water fountain, botanical gardens, bus terminus, and parking lot. The main facility building comprises a 5-star hotel with 15 rooms, 10 studio apartments, 2 VIP apartments, a restaurant with a kitchen, a VIP restaurant, indoor and outdoor cafés, a wellness center, gym, one large and two smaller conference rooms, and designated administration, technical and financial floors. After redevelopment completion, the center will also consist of an indoor futsal arena, a beach football court, a shooting area, tennis courts, two large artificial turf grounds, and one large natural turf ground.

In addition, the center will be encompassed by a man-made hill with an adjacent park and bungalows. As of 28 July 2016, the second phase of construction work commenced. Presently, the entrance, plaza, and grounds are completed and in use. Club legend Želimir Vidović, who was killed during the Siege of Sarajevo while transporting wounded citizens to a nearby hospital, was honored by having the main artificial turf pitch named after him.

The western grass knoll that encompasses the turf has the statue of Vidovic.

Meanwhile, I hope you are following the topic ”FK Sarajevo FC Youth Academy Trials”.

    Other Uses Of The Center

The FK Sarajevo Academy also uses the center for their home games and training sessions. The center will provide a boarding facility for the academy members, consisting of the aforementioned bungalows, after its completion. Also, the women’s team trains and plays friendly fixtures on the facility pitches. Occasionally, the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team also uses the training camp. Above all, as a way of giving back to the community, the club employs war veterans from the Ilidža municipality in the training center.

The Head Coach Of FK Sarajevo Academy

The manager of the Sarajevo U19 teamis Dženan Uščuplić (born 18 August 1975). He is a Bosnian professional football manager who was formerly a player.

    His Experience As A Footballer

Uščuplić won 3 Bosnian cup titles and one Supercup as a Sarajevo player. He also played for Olimpik. However, due to a chronic knee injury that he suffered in April 1998, he retired in the summer of 2002 aged 27.

    His Managerial Experiences

Uščuplić was an assistant to former first-team manager Robert Jarni in the Sarajevo youth academy for nine years. He was finally appointed manager in 2014. He ended a seven-season silverware drought after he led the club to a cup victory in his first season in charge. However, following a series of bad results, he returned to the Club’s academy after his dismissal on 26 September 2014. He completed the UEFA Pro Licence program on his return to the academy.

He replaced Meho Kodro and returned as the club’s manager on 21 April 2015. Just shortly after, he led the club to a league triumph. Unfortunately,  Uščuplić and his whole staff were sacked after a series of poor results on 11 September 2015. The build-up to the dismissals reached its peak in the loss against Slavija Sarajevo.

Uščuplić was yet again named as Sarajevo’s interim manager until the end of the 2020-21 season, six years later, on 13 May 2021. This was after the club ag terminated Vinko Marinović’s contract by mutual agreement following a run of poor results in the last few games of the season.  Uščuplić recorded a draw against Mladost Doboj Kakanj in a league game in his first game as a manager on 16 May 2021. On the 23rd of the same month, he oversaw his first win as manager against Radnik Bijeljina. Uščuplić led Sarajevo to yet another Bosnian cup victory, just three days later, on 26 May. His side beat Borac Banja Luka in the final.

The multi-purpose stadium is located in the Koševo neighborhood of Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. They officially named it Olimpijski stadion Koševo – Asim Ferhatović-Hase. The city has ownership of the stadium and leased on a long-term basis by football club FK Sarajevo.  In honor of its former footballer and club legend, Asim Ferhatović – Hase, the club proposed a new name for its sporting and football events. The stadium was the venue for the opening ceremony of the 1984 Winter Olympics.

The Construction Work Of The Stadium

The stadium was opened in the year 1947 but was reconstructed for the 1984 Winter Olympics, the following year. As a result, it’s often called Olympic Stadium.

Currently, Koševo has a capacity of 34,500 spectators, and up to 70,000 for musical and various public events. The stadium had hosted music and public events like; U2’s concert as part of their PopMart Tour in 1997,  Dino Merlin’s Burek tour in 2004 and Hotel Nacional in 2015, or hosting of papal pastoral visitations by Pope John Paul II between 12–13 April 1997 and Pope Francis on 6 June 2015. It also hosted the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team’s home games for a long time.

    Background Details

In 1947, they started construction works and the stadium lay on a local hill. Hence, blending in with its natural surroundings. They included a pitch and a tartan track in 1950. Yugoslavia and Turkey played the stadium’s first international football match in 1954.

However, they renovated the stadium to serve as the venue for an athletic championship for the Balkans which was held in 1966. They built a new administration building along with new locker rooms and a restaurant. Also, they installed a modern scoreboard and new lighting.

After the Bosnian War in 1988, they renovated the stadium for the third time. They reduced the seating capacity of the stadium to 34,500 after they added chairs on every stand.

The stadium hosted  FK Sarajevo’s and FK Željezničar’s international home matches. Europe’s finest clubs like Manchester United, Dynamo Kyiv, Derby County, Basel, Hamburger SV, Newcastle United, Celtic, etc at one point, used the stadium.

    The Owner Of FK Sarajevo

The Malaysian Chinese businessman and investor Vincent Tan Chee Yioun (Chinese: 陳志遠; pinyin: Chén Zhìyuǎn; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tân Chìuán) was born in Bath Pahat in 1952. He is the founder of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, a diversified conglomerate listed on the Malaysian stock exchange. Tan’s other stakes include interest in internet-related businesses, water utilities, media, retail, and telecommunications, apart from his stakes in the Berjaya Corporation group of companies.

He made the Forbes billionaire list with an estimated worth of USD 1.6 billion (RM4.2 billion) in 2010.  Tan’s success in the Malaysian business sector has been attributed in part to his close association with prominent Malay political figures.

    His Biography

Tan studied at Batu Pahat High School having been born in Batu Pahat in 1952. He had initially planned to study law in New Zealand, however,  he found work as a clerk in a bank instead due to the failure of his father’s business. Impressively, he sold life insurance for AIA and became an agency manager at AIA by the age of 23.

Afterward, Tan began private companies in trading, credit, general insurance, and real estate. He undertook a joint venture with Tokio Marine & Fire Insurance that became United Prime Insurance. In 1981, he won a McDonald’s franchise in Malaysia and took the course of an advanced operation at Hamburger University. In 1982,  Tan became the managing director of McDonald’s Malaysia.

The Business Lane Of The Club

    Berjaya Corporation

Tan moved into Berjaya in 1984. They purchased 48% of the consumer durables company Regis the same year. Tan and the then finance minister Daim Zainuddin had a business relationship. Tan acquired 51% of Sports Toto from the Malaysian government in 1985. The pre-tax profit of Sports Toto rose from RM 5 million in 1985 to RM 36 by April 1989. In order to gain control of Berjaya, he invested his shares in Sports Toto into Berjaya. In 1988, he swapped his shares in Berjaya for Raleigh Bhd, a loss-making company linked to Daim. They later renamed it to Inter-Pacific and turned it into Berjaya’s holding company. Berjaya’s pretax profit rose from RM 700,000 in 1984 to RM 70 million in 1989, when he was in charge.

Tan received a gaming license for his wholly-owned subsidiary Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd in 2010. Unfortunately, they revoked the license in October 2010. However, the government said it had no plans to reissue it, as of July 2018.

Below are the listed subsidiaries under Berjaya Corporation Berhad:

    • Berjaya Land Berhad
    • Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad
    • Berjaya Food Berhad (including Pappa Rich brand) • REDtone International Berhad
    • Berjaya Philippines Inc.

    Football

    Cardiff City

After a consortium of Malaysian investors (led by Dato Chan Tien Ghee) acquired 30% of Cardiff City shares, Tan gained ownership of the club in May 2010.

The consortium offered to invest £100 million to increase the stadium’s capacity and build a new training ground in May 2012. However, it was under the condition that they got permission to rebrand the club from blue to red. The plans sparked outrage among Cardiff supporters who quickly organized an emergency meeting to discuss how they would respond to the proposal. Subsequently, they terminated the plans.

Cardiff went ahead with the rebranding a month later to expand its appeal in foreign markets. They changed their home strip from blue to red. They also included a red dragon in their redesigned badge. Importantly, they also cleared the club’s £30 million debt to the Langston Corporation. Tan promised to spend £25 million to help Cardiff establish itself in the top flight following Cardiff’s promotion to the Premier League in April 2013. He also publicly stated his interest in listing his 36.1% stake on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). In an attempt to raise capital for the expansion of the business, an initial public offering (IPO) would sell shares in the club to the public for the first time.

    More Information

In October 2013, Tan suspended Iain Moody, the club’s head of recruitment, who had apparently overspent by £15 million during the summer transfer window. This generated more controversies. Initially, they added Moody to the backroom staff by manager Malky Mackay. He helped Cardiff sign several players ahead of their inaugural Premier League campaign. However, they replaced him with Alisher Apsalyamovby. He is a 23-year-old Kazakh who has work experience with the club and is a friend to Tan’s son. Alisher left the club a few months later, following an investigation over his visa.

Tan got angry with Mackay because he publicly stated his plans to boost his squad during the January transfer window despite overspending during the summer.  Tan didn’t make available any money. Despite Tan’s criticism, Mackay insisted that he would not resign. Subsequently, Cardiff fans backed him up. However, Tan gave Mackay an option to resign or receive a sack letter towards the end of December.

Mackay oversaw two more games before they sacked him. Mackay allegedly sent texts of an anti-Chinese nature after his dismissal. Dave Whelan, the owner of his subsequent employers Wigan Athletic defended him. Tan called both of them racists in his response, stating  “I hope that stops at two racists in Wigan, not snowballing to 2,000 or 20,000 racists in Wigan.”

    Foot Note

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær replaced Mackay on 2 January 2014. Unfortunately, Cardiff was unable to escape relegation. Russell Slade replaced Solskjær who left the club later that year.

Tan hired Neil Warnock who at the time was the oldest working coach in Britain, as manager, in October 2016. Cardiff City achieved promotion to the Premier League once again by 2018. However, they were relegated to the Championship after finishing in 18th place in their first season back.

    More On FK Sarajevo

Tan bought the Bosnian club FK Sarajevo in December 2013. Cardiff was to comply with FK Sarajevo as stated in the deal, exchanging players and taking part in a football academy. Tan aims to bring in young talents through the academy. But, he is yet to establish it. Players like Miloš Stojčev, Džemal Berberović and Nemanja Bilbija signed for FK Sarajevo. They helped the club win their first title since winning the domestic Premier League in 2006-07, and the 2013–14 Bosnian Cup.

They achieved this under Robert Jarni who became their manager in December 2013. However, they dismissed him after only four months (on 7 April 2014, while the team was still in the semi-finals of the Bosnian Cup). This was because the club had failed to keep its hopes of winning the premier league title alive during the later stages of the 2013-14 season. FK Sarajevo played a friendly match against Tan’s Cardiff City FC U21, winning 4–1, in July 2014.  FK Sarajevo went on to qualify for the play-off round of the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League. However, they lost to the German Bundesliga side, Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The heaviest rains and floods in over 120 years hit Bosnia and the surrounding environs in May 2014. Flooding majorly affected the towns of Doboj and Maglaj. This happened on all major roads which resulted in them cutting it off from the rest of the country. Twenty-four people felt the drastic impact of landslides and floods. This resulted in a high cost of hundreds of millions of Euros. According to officials, the cost of the disaster could exceed that of the Bosnian War. While the people of Malaysia raised a total of €169,000 toward Bosnia’s flood relief fund, Tan made a personal donation of €114,000 in June 2014.

    More Information

On 17 July 201, Tan presented pledges of assistance of €255,000 each to two hospitals in Doboj and Maglaj. He did it for the purpose of purchasing medical equipment. This presentation happened during the halftime break of the Europa League qualifying match between FK Sarajevo and Norwegian club FK Haugesund at the Olympic Stadium in Sarajevo. Tan stated in a pre-match interview,

“Because of my involvement with Sarajevo Football Club, when I heard about the floods, I urged the Sun newspaper to run a campaign to raise donations to help Bosnia.”

    Inter-relationship With Horse racing

Tan (through one of his representatives) bought a two-year-old colt from Doncaster Bloodstock Breeze-Up Sales for £190,000 in April 2014. Australian Jeremy Gask reared it in Wiltshire. Eamonn Wilmott, Gask’s business partner, said: “We are very excited, and pleased to have Mr. Tan involved. The horse looks exceptional and dominated the parade rings outside the sales.”

    The Philanthropic Aspect

Tan discovered the Better Malaysia Foundation, which offers interest-free loans and scholarships to students in need. Due to his pledge to donate half of his fortune to social causes, they featured him on Forbes Asia’s list of Heroes of Philanthropy in 2011. Vincent Tan donated RM500,000 to Mercy Malaysia and Tzu Chi Malaysia in 2017. Thereby, summing up his total donations to both organizations to RM7.6 million.

Junior de Barranquilla, formerly known as Atlético Junior, or just Junior, is a Colombian football team based in Barranquilla that competes in the Category Primera A. Club Deportivo Popular Junior F.C. S.A. In Colombia’s top division, Junior is the primary Caribbean team. The finest South American squad rankings for 2022 have them ranked 25th currently.

The club has had a number of prominent players over the years, including: Heleno de Freitas, Garrincha, Dida, Juan Ramón Verón, Efraín Sánchez, Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, Iván Valenciano, Teófilo Gutiérrez, Carlos Bacca, Julio César Uribe, Giovanni Hernández, Sebastián Viera and Luis Díaz.

    Atlético Junior’s Background Details

In Barranquilla’s San Roque area, a team called Juventus was formed in the early 1920s, and it’s no surprise that it was named after the neighborhood’s large Italian immigrant population. Juventud, which means “youth” in English, was renamed soon after its inception to avoid confusion. Juventud Infantil was founded in August 1924 by some of Juventud’s younger members and other San Roque young men.

They rose to prominence as one of the country’s top clubs in the 1940s when their name was abbreviated to Junior. They finished seventh in the Copa América (after losing 7–0 to Uruguay and 9–1 to Argentina) in 1945, with Junior players picked to represent Colombia at the South American Championship.

When they were picked to represent Colombia in 1949 (and finished in last place), the implications of their decision to participate were dire.
As a founding member of the Colombian Professional Football League‘s Division Mayor in 1948, Junior was an integral part of the team (commonly known as the Dimayor). On August 15, 1948, they played their first professional match at home against Deportivo Cali, winning 2–0.

They were re-selected to play as Colombia’s de facto national team early the following year. Junior was threatened with expulsion from the Dimayor if they competed in the tournament because of the ongoing conflict between Adefutbol (the original amateur Colombian football association) and the Dimayor. A two-year suspension was first granted to them for their actions. For the 1950 season, the Dimayor was limited to one season and they returned.

    More Information

When the Dimayor was a “rebel league” unaffiliated with FIFA and many high-profile players from around the world abandoned their contracts and came to play in Colombia, this was known as El Dorado, the golden age of Colombian football. As was the case with Junior, who signed players from Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay.

In these years, Hungary and the Czech Republic. However, Colombian football‘s El Dorado had to come to an end.

In the mid-1960s, a schism arose in Colombian football, this time between Adefutbol and the newly formed Federación Colombiana de Futbol, an organization focused on growing professional football in Colombia.

The national squad was still organized by Adefutbol, which was still recognized by FIFA as the official governing organization, and no Colombian clubs were allowed to compete in the Copa Libertadores during this timeframe. The amateur team that had sought to qualify for the England World Cup signed up for Junior, who returned to the Dimayor in 1966 once peace was finally achieved. As a result, Junior has remained at a high level ever since.

In 1977, Junior became the first Colombian team to win the national title after taking first place in the Apertura. They added more championships to their tally in 1980, 1993, 1995, 2004, II (Finalización), 2010, I (Apertura) and 2011-II (Finalizacion). Junior has made nine appearances in the Copa Libertadores (including a semi-final appearance in 1994) as well as one apiece in the Copa Sudamericana and Copa CONMEBOL.

    The Club’s Identity

    About The Badge

The shape of the team‘s badge is like a Swiss cross and measures 6 cm wide by 8 cm high. They divided it into two horizontal stripes. The lower stripe has nine vertical white and red stripes. After it comes to another blue horizontal band, this time with stars on it. The stars have nine points; each point indicates a league championship the team has won.

    About The Flag

There are 9 horizontal stripes on the Junior flag, 5 red, and 4 white, with the superior and inferior red stripes in between. Overlapping the strips is a blue triangle. One side of this triangle is occupied by the entire width of the flag’s vertical side. They adorned the triangle with white stars.

The Football Ground Of Atlético Juniors(Stadium)

The Metropolitan Stadium a.k.a The Estadio Metropolitano, also known as El Metro, is a multi-purpose football stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia, that hosts a variety of sporting events. Atlético Junior is a local football team that plays at this stadium. For the 1986 World Cup bid, they built it with a seating capacity of 46,692.

The Uruguayans defeated Junior 2–1 in the stadium’s inaugural game that year. Once they remodel Cali’s old Estadio Deportivo, it will be Colombia’s largest stadium. They renamed it Estadio Metropolitano in 1991. This is in honor of Colombian footballer Roberto Meléndez, who played for the team. Colombia’s national football team plays in this stadium.

The Background Of The Football Ground(Stadium)

The only other stadium in the city before Estadio Metropolitano remains the 10,000-seat Romelio Martnez Stadium. They erected it in 1934. When Barranquilla’s first professional football team debuted in 1948, it became clear that the city needed a new stadium to accommodate the growing number of football fans.

They envisioned the new bleachers for the Romelio Martnez Stadium in the early 1970s. This happened as the stadium was expanding. In order to finish the project, they will have to reduce 72nd Street. After some time, they decided to demolish the new forum, which the local newspaper will criticize and dubbed “the Gallery of Shame”.

In light of the significant amount of money spent on this project, they decided that the wisest course of action was to construct a new football stadium for the city, rather than try to extend the current one.

For World Cup 1986, they presented President Julio César Turbay with the concept of a new stadium in Barranquilla. Governor Pedro Martin Leyes handled the building project in 1979. The Instituto de Crédito Territorial donated 30 hectares of land along avenue Circunvalar and Murillo Street for the project. Then, they started laying the foundation on December 7th, 1979.

The firm Metroftbol, directed by architect Jaime de Biasse, built it. Engineer Julio Gerlein and electrical engineer Luis Gonzalo Prada Ch got construction contract awards from José Francisco Ramos. He is the stadium‘s architect.

    The Commission Of The Stadium

On May 11, 1986, a folk show marked the grand opening of the Estadio Metropolitano.
