    About Radomiak Radom

Radomiak Radom, also known as Radomiak Spóka Akcyjna (Radomiak S.A.), A Polish football team named Radom, situated in Radom, Poland. The team plays in the Ekstraklasa, the top division of Polish football, and became established in 1910. The Stadion im. Braci Czachorów is the location of their home games.

    History

In 1910, Poland’s Russian overlords granted permission to build the Radomskie Sport-related Towarzystwo (literally “The Sporting Fellowship of Radom”, or “Radom Sports Association”). Five divisions made up the newly established RTS: football, cycling, tennis, ice skating, and gymnastics. RKS’s football team played their debut game in 1911, losing to Stella Warszawa 5-2.

The Radom Sports Association achieved promotion to Warsaw Class B, the second tier of the Polish football system at the time, in 1924. (the Ekstraklasa was not established until 1927). They elevated to Warsaw Class A in 1925, and all Radom teams transferred to the Kielce League in 1928. This league included teams from Radom, Kielce, Czstochowa, and the Zagbie Dbrowskie region. By defeating KS Sosnowiec and Hakoah Bdzin, the squad earned promotion to the Kielce League (Class A). Radom competed in the Ekstraklasa play-offs after winning the Kielce League, but they lost to both Podgorze Kraków and Naprzód Lipiny.

In addition, Radomiak Radom was one of the top teams in the league during the remainder of the 1930s, but they were unable to advance to the Polish football league‘s top division. The team vanished during the Second World War and reappeared in April 1945 to play Czarni Radom. After winning the local matches, Radom participated in the 1947 Ekstraklasa play-offs once more but fell short to Widzew Od. In Radom, the Sports Club Bata became established in April 1945. Up to July 1945, when the squad adopted the name Radomiak Sports Club, this moniker was in use. After defeating Polonia Warszawa, the new team won the regional contests as well as the Warsaw championship.

Radomiak Radom participated in the 1946 Polish national team’s regional championship playoffs. They overcame Lublinianka Lublin 5-0 before falling to KS Od 3-1 in the championship game. Marian Czachor played for Poland against Romania on July 19, 1947, being the first player from Radomiak Radom to do so.

    More about Radomiak Radom

Radomiak Radom joined the newly created second division in 1948 and stayed there until 1952. Radomiak participated in the third and fourth divisions for a while. The Radom Sports Club Radomiak became created after Radomiak and the Radom Sports Association merged in 1967. The team got promoted to the second level in 1969 but was promptly demoted. In 1974, Radomiak made a comeback to the second level but was once more demoted right away.

Radomiak Radom was once more promoted to the second level in 1977. This time, the Radom team remained there for a considerable amount of time. After Motor Lublin, they came in second place during the 1982–83 campaign. Before the 1983-84 season, Radomiak Radom was regarded as one of the favorites and the squad showed their talent by winning promotion on June 20, 1984, after defeating Hutnik Warszawa 2-1.

Radomiak defeated Batyk Gdynia 3-0 at home in their first ever Ekstraklasa game. Also, Radomiak finished the fall portion of the season in fifth place, seven points behind Legia Warsaw, the league’s top team. The spring season of the 1984–85 Ekstraklasa was disappointing because Radomiak kept losing and was demoted together with Wisa Kraków. Radomiak Radom faced demotion to the third division in 1989, and in June 1993, he earned promotion back to the second tier. The Radom squad finished the 1993–94 season in fourth place with Rafal Siadaczka as their star player but they faced demotion again the following year.

Radomiak placed second in the third division in 2003-04. After winning the promotion playoff match against Toki Gorzyce, they earned promotion to the second tier. In the 2004–05 season, Radomiak Radom triumphed over Toki Gorzyce once more, this time in the play-offs to prevent relegation. However, Radomiak Radom fell short of Odra Opole in the play-offs the following year and because of that demoted to the third tier.

For the first time in 36 years, Radomiak Radom won the second division in 2020–21 and earned promotion to the Ekstraklasa.

    Zagłębie Lubin S. A.

Lubin is home to the Polish professional football team Zagłębie Lubin S.A. (pronounced zaˈɡwɛmbjɛ ˈlubin). The club, OMTUR Lubin, was established in 1945 and plays in the Ekstraklasa at the time.

    Background

Zagłębie Lubin’s history began in August 1945, when the former German town of Luben was transformed into Polish Lubin (see Recovered Territories). Several football fans, including Pogon Lwów players and administrators, were among a group of ethnic Poles who were compelled to leave their homes in old Eastern Poland. Some of them belonged to the Organization of Workers’ Universities’ Socialist Youth Organization (Organizacja Mlodziezy Towarzystwa Uniwersytetow Robotniczych, OMTUR), which existed before to 1939. They established the OMTUR Lubin football team in August 1945. The squad played its games on a former German field on Kosciuszko Street. The OMTUR Lubin games were particularly well-liked and drew large throngs of supporters. The local Red Army garrison’s squad, who faced the Poles in Autumn 1945, was one of the rivals.

Based on OMTUR Lubin, Sports Club Zawisza was established in March 1946. (the name comes after a medieval knight, Zawisza Czarny). The team’s players included Stanislaw Lesniewski, who had temporarily played for Dynamo Kiev and had lived in the Recovered Territories, Tadeusz Rela of Tarnovia Tarnow, and Emil Czyzewski of Pogo Lwów. The Autonomous District of Polish Football Association (PZPN) was established in Wroclaw in April 1946. Four groups were formed from newly formed Lower Silesia teams in Poland. In Group IV, Zawisza Lubin was promoted to the newly created A Class. In 1947, Zawisza won the Lower Silesia Cup. That same year, the Lubin squad competed against the Northern Group of Forces team, which had its headquarters in neighboring Legnica. Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky attended the match, which the Poles won 1-0.

    Name change and Sponsorship

Zawisza Lubin’s name was changed to Gwardia in 1949 and then to Spojnia in 1951. In 1953, the squad then reverted to its old name, Zawisza.

Rich copper reserves were found in the Lubin region in 1957. The squad got a wealthy sponsor when the Lubin mine was built (see also KGHM Polska Miedz). Its name was changed to Gornik in 1960, and additional departments for table tennis, volleyball, basketball, boxing, and handball were also created. The Inter-Enterprise Sports Club (MKS) Zagbie Lubin was finally founded in 1966. The new organization was a strong institution, with ten divisions. Zagbie’s administrators sought more despite their football club being promoted to the third level. Alojzy Sitko took over as its new manager in 1974. In the 1975–76 Polish Cup, Zagbie caused an excitement by defeating Ruch Chorzów and then falling to Górnik Zabrz.

    Relegations and Promotions

Zagłębie gained promotion to the second level in 1975 but was demoted after one season. It received a promotion in 1978 but was demoted after a year. The squad was a revelation in the 1978–1979 Polish Cup, defeating GKS Katowice, Legia Warszawa, and Górnik Zabrze en route to the semi-final, when Wisa Kraków defeated it 0–3.

Under manager Stanislaw Swierk, Zagłębie gained promotion to the second division once again in 1982. It was ultimately elevated to the Ekstraklas in 1985. A new stadium and a new management, Eugeniusz Rozanski, made Zagłębie one of the most influential sports organizations in Poland at the time. Zagłębie won their first Ekstraklasa home game on July 27, 1985, 1-0 against GKS Katowice with to a goal from Eugeniusz P. Zagłębie finished eighth in 1986-87, eighth in 1987-88, and twelve in 1985-86. 11th. In order to escape relegation, the Lubin squad had to compete in the playoffs, when it was defeated by Górnik Wabrzych (1-2, 2–2).

    International Competitions

Zagłębie returned to the Ekstraklasa after spending a year in the second level (June 1989) It was a Polish runner-up (June 1990), earning a berth in the 1990–91 UEFA Cup under the direction of Stanislaw Swierk. Zagłębie lost both of its games against Bologna in the first round, 0-1, 0-1. 1. Marian Putyra’s Zagłębie won the Polish title in June 1991, qualifying them for the 1991–92 European Cup where they met Brndby Copenhag. Polish champion was eliminated after losing 0-3 in the first leg and winning 2-1 at home. Romuald Kujawa and Adam Zejer, who were both among Zagłębie greatest players at the time and led the Ekstraklasa in scoring in 1990-91. Zagłębie finished fourth in Poland in 1995, earning a berth in the 1995–1996 UEFA Cup.

Unfortunately, they lost the trophy to AC Milan, a top European club with players like Roberto Baggio, Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta, Roberto Donadoni, Marcel Desailly, Zvonimir Boban, and manager Fabio Capello.

After 13 years, Zagłębie was demoted from the Ekstraklasa in June 2003. Prior to then, Zagłębie played 20 games in the Intertoto Cup, winning seven times, losing eight times, and drawing five. Additionally, it was the sixth team in Poland in 2001 and advanced to the Cup of Poland semifinals.

    Ekstraklasa return

Zagłębie returned to the Ekstraklasa in June 2004 after a year away, and in the spring It again advanced to the Polish Cup final in 2005. However, they fell to Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski 0-2 in the final. Under Franciszek Smuda, Zagłębie finished third in the league and qualified for the European Cups in 2005-06 with Michal Chalbinski as its best scorer. The squad also made it back to the Polish Cup final, where they fell to Wisa Pock 2-3, 1-3. Zagłębie was ousted from the UEFA Cup by Dinamo Minsk (1-1, 0-0).

Overview Of Pogoń Szczecin Football Club

Pogoń Szczecin Spóka Akcyjna, or simply Pogo Szczecin dwells in Szczecin, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It is a Polish professional football club that features in Polish top division, the Ekstraklasa.

Background Details Of The Pogoń Szczecin Football Club

Poles found the club from Lviv, Ukraine formerly known as Lwów. This happened after being relocated west following the Soviet invasion of eastern Poland in 1945.

Those who founded Pogoń Szczecin were once supporters of Pogoń Lwów, and the team colors pay homage to their former favorite team color. Those who formerly lived in Lwów also established or resurrected Polonia Bytom and Odra Opole.

On April 21, 1948, Klub Sportowy Sztorm was established as Szczecin’s most prominent sports club. The football squad started off, by competing in the regional C-Class tournament, and the boxing department soon followed.

The Klub Sportowy Zwiazkowiec was formed in March 1949. It comprised of Szczecin sports clubs like; KS Sztorm, KS Cukrownik, KS Drukarz, and Pocztowy KS).

Zwiazkowiec stood in for Pocztowy KS in the local A-Class competition. After Zwiazkowiec was scrapped out in November 1950, Klub Sportowy Kolejarz Szczecin came forth.

In 1953, its football club, backed by the Port of Szczecin, was elevated to the newly formed Interregional League called Liga Miedzywojewodzka. It oversaw the regions of Szczecin, Zielona Góra, and Poznań.

    Renaming Kolejarz

Kolejarz became Pogoń Szczecin that year. Pogoń Lwów’s legacy lives on via the club’s moniker and colors. After finishing as the Interregional League’s runner-up in 1957, Pogo advanced to the postseason for the second tier.

By virtue of their victories over Flota Gdynia, Kujawiak Wrocawek, and Warta Gorzów, Pogoń moved up and debuted in the second tier of Polish football.

In 1958, Pogoń was the best team in Group North of the Second Division, moving up to the Ekstraklasa with 37 points (goals 54-22, no losses).

Pogoń’s first game at the Ekstraklasa ended in a 0-1 loss to Gwardia Warszawa. In 1960, Pogoń was demoted from the Ekstraklasa. But, was promoted again in 1962.

They maintained their stay there through the 1960s and 1970s. However, Pogoń was still regarded as a mediocre team that struggled to win in Poland’s premier division.

In 1981, Pogoń reached the final of the Cup of Poland. There, they lost 0-1 to Legia Warszawa. This trend happened again in the early 1980s. Apparently, in 1982, Pogoń reached the Cup final, but lost to Lech Poznań, 0-1.

Eugeniusz Ksol took over the managerial duties of the club in 1984. That was when Pogoń debuted as the top three in the Ekstraklasa for the first time. As a result, they earned automatic entrance to compete for the UEFA Cup.

    Pogoń’s Entrance Into European Competition

As they made in into the European competition, they hosted 1. FC Köln. Some notable players in the squad were Harald Schumacher, Pierre Littbarski and Klaus Allofs.

The first leg, held in September 19, 1984, didn’t really go Pogoń’s way as the lost 1–2. Meanwhile, in the return match, held in October 3, Polish team were defeated 0–1. This happened because the missed chances during the penalty kicks.

Pogoń had an impressive 1987, by finishing as runners-up in Polish league. Under the management of Leszek Jezierski, the team applied of attacking tactics than defensive. As a result, they scored more goals.

In their squad, they had Mariusz Kuras, Marek Ostrowski and Marek Lesniak. The only team above them was Górnik Zabrze. Pogoń debuted in the UEFA Cup against Hellas Verona in company of Thomas Berthold and Preben Elkjær.

On September 16, 1987, which was the first leg of the campaign, Pogoń went on a 1–1 home draw. Pogoń went to Italy for the second leg, but lost 1-3.

Subsequently, Pogoń ran into financial problems. They were almost declared bankrupt in 2002. As a result, the fans restrategized and developed a new team with the players that were not played regularly played.

The CEO of Piotrcovia Piotrków Trybunalski Antoni Ptak had to relocate and rename the team to MKS Pogoń Szczecin.

The team started playing well and gradually gained the support of the fans. But, in the 2005-06 season, their performance started dropping.

    The Reshuffling Of The Squad

As a result, the manager flushed off the most part of the squad and replaced them with only Brazilian players.

Antoni Ptak erected a mini training structure to enable players practice. This was going to be strenuous for the players as it is far from Szczecin.

The plans for Antoni Ptak didn’t turn out well, so in 2007 they moved out from football.

Subsequently, they moved up to the Zachodnia (Western) group of the new II Liga. This happened in the 2007–08 season.

Impressively, they finished as runners-up in the Western Group of Polish Second League. As a result, they moved up to the Polish First League in 2008–09 season. Their good performance there earned them a spot in the Polish top division for the 2011–12 season.

    About Korona Kielce

Polish football team Korona Kielce, pronounced [krna kjlts] (Korona – Crown – symbol of club and city, Kielce – name of city where club is headquartered), will play in Ekstraklasa in the 2022–23 season. The club experienced it’s greatest success in 2005 when it earned promotion to the first division while being owned by the Polish holding company Kolporter Holding from 2002 to 2008. (Ekstraklasa). Since then, Korona has played five seasons at the top level of Polish soccer. Korona took part in the Polish Cup final in the 2006–07 season. The club, previously found guilty of match-fixing, demoted to I liga after the 2007–2008 campaign. Korona became exiled for a year before coming back to the Ekstraklasa.  Korona concluded the 2019–20 season in 14th place and demoted to I liga. After defeating Chrobry Gógów 3-2 in the promotion play-off final, Korona earned promotion back to the Ekstraklasa on May 29, 2022.

    History

They established the club in 1973 as a result of the merger of the Iskra and SHL teams from Kielce. In 1975, the brand-new team received their initial promotion to the Polish 2nd league. Unfortunately, the team played poorly and quickly demoted. 1982 saw the next promotion. Before their demotion once more in 1990, Korona competed in the second level. There were several changes in 1996. Nida Gips of Gacki now sponsored the club and its name changed to Miejski Klub Sportowy Sekcja Futbolowa Korona. Korona participated in the second league once more during the 1998–1999 campaign before their demotion at the conclusion of the year. In 2000, Korona joined with Bkitni Kielce, another team from Kielce, and adopted the name Kielecki Klub Pikarski Korona.

The heyday of Korona had arrived in 2002. Kielecki Klub Pikarski Kolporter Korona was the new name of the club, with Kolporter as the new sponsor and Krzysztof Klicki as the new chairman. They changed the team’s name once more in 2003, to Sportowa Spólka Akcyjna Kolporter Korona. The objective was to be the best football team in Poland. When Korona won the 2nd league and granted promotion to the Polish premier league for the first time in club history in 2005, the dream began to materialize.

First-round Ekstraklasa match between Korona and Cracovia ended in a scoreless draw. The 2005–06 season saw Korona finish fifth in the standings. At a meeting with fans before the 2006–07 season, the club’s chairman declared that the club will return to its former coat of arms. With a victory away at Arka Gdynia, Korona’s second Ekstraklasa campaign got off to a great start (3–0). The 20th of September 2006 held a special place in Korona’s history.

Despite finishing the 2006–07 campaign in seventh place, the club moved to the top of the league standings for the first time in its history after an away victory against Odra Wodzisawlski. It finished sixth in its third and last season in the top league in 2007–08 but demoted due to its involvement in match-fixing in the 2003–04 campaign. For a small sum, Klicki sold the club to the city of Kielce in August 2008.

Korona Kielce elevated to the Ekstraklasa on July 14, 2009. They demoted back to I Liga in 2020. They received another promotion to the Ekstraklasa in 2022.

    Stadium

As a result of Korona’s accomplishments and club owner Krzysztof Klicki’s declaration that the team would compete for European Cups and play in the premier league, Kielce municipal officials approved the building of a new stadium. Unfortunately, it turned out that the stadium was far too tiny. In order to facilitate continued construction on the new facility, the club played its first round of the highest level at its old stadium (now used by reserves and young teams).

They formally gave the keys to the new stadium to the club just 18 months after the construction process began. On April 1, 2006, they played the inaugural game of the Premier League against Zagbie Lubin.

They constructed the Korona stadium in accordance with UEFA regulations and contemporary design principles, despite being erected on the same location as an earlier stadium. It varies from the majority of other football stadiums in Poland in this regard, which were constructed during the communist era or earlier and only marginally modified to fulfill fundamental UEFA requirements.

Kielce Stadium can handle 15,550 spectators, however league matches may only hold 13,823 Korona supporters and 777 guests due to Polish regulations, which demand a buffer zone between home supporters and the visitors section. However, during a league game, the stadium once reached capacity. This happened in the 2006–07 season when fans of Legia Warszawa, a visiting team, got turned away because so many of their “red brigade” supporters traveled to Kielce to support their team.

The pitch measures 105 x 68 meters, and the whole surface is heated. Between match days, automatic sprinklers water the field. The stadium in Kielce includes an extensive monitoring system that could serve as a template for other stadiums in Poland. The Polish Football Association is also considering using the stadium in Korona for international matches.

Since moving to Poland’s most modern stadium in 2006, the team has frequently had among the top attendance records in the Polish league, though these figures have dropped since the club was demoted at the conclusion of the 2007–08 season.

    Legia Warsaw Spółka Akcyjna

People commonly refer to Legia Warszawa Spółka Akcyjna as Legia Warsaw or just Legia. It’s Polish pronunciation is ˈlɛɡʲja varˈʂava. It is a professional football club located in Warsaw, Poland. With a record 15 Ekstraklasa champions titles, a record 19 Polish Cup and four Polish Super Cup titles, Legia Warsaw are undoubtedly the most successful Polish football club ever. The Polish Army Stadium (Stadion Wojska Polskiego) is the club’s homeground. Since the World War II (check:1936 Legia Warsaw season), Legia has not been demoted from the top tier of the Polish football League system. They are the only Polish club to achieve this feat.

During military operations on the Eastern Front in World War I, Legia was established between March 5 and March 15, 1916. It served as the primary football team for the Polish Legions.

The club was revived after the war on March 14, 1920. It was at an officer’s club in Warsaw under the name Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Warszawa. Legia was given its current name in 1923 after fusing with Korona, another club in the area. Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Legia Warszawa, which translates to “Military Sports Club Legia Warsaw,” became the primary official football team of the Polish Army.

Legia was known as CWKS Warszawa, or “Central Military Sports Club Warsaw,” from 1949 until 1957.

It was owned by Pol-Mot prior to April 8, 2004. ITI Group, a media conglomerate, held it from April 8, 2004, when it was sold for 3 million zloty, until January 9, 2014. Dariusz Mioduski, who also acts as the club’s chairman, owns the organization at the time.

    Background

    Beginnings and establishments

Between March 5 and March 15, 1916, Legia was established during military actions on the Eastern Front of World War I in the Polish province of Maniewicze, Volhynia. The Polish Legions, who were at the time fighting for Austria-Hungary, used it as their primary football club.  Due to the fact that many Polish troops were engaged in the creation of the Polish Legions prior to the conflict, the First World War’s start had a significant impact on the club’s founding in 1916. Before the war, many soldiers, mostly young men from Kraków and Lviv in southern Poland, played football. As a result, once the squad was formed, they quickly found success. In the quiet intervals at the front, football matches were arranged. They required a ball, setting up temporary goals, and locating a dozen or so participants. Football was an excellent way to pass the time.

    2011–2020 seasons

At the conclusion of the 2013–14 Ekstraklasa season, Legia earned their tenth championship by winning another league championship. After beating Dundalk on August 23, 2016, Legia for the first time in 21 years advanced to the group stages of the 2016–17 Champions League. The Legionnaires were placed in group F among teams like Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid. They earned a 1-0 victory against Sporting Lisbon on the last day of group play. As a result, they finished third overall and advance to the round of 32 of the 2016–17 UEFA Europa League. Ajax and Legia were matched up, with the first game being a goalless draw in Warsaw.

The 2016–17 Ekstraklasa season was Legia’s 12th League championship season. They ended up with a goalless draw against Lechia Gdask. In order to win the championship, Legia required a draw in the game between Jagiellonia Biaystok and Lech Pozna. Legia won the tournament as the match ended in a 2-2 tie.

Dramatic events led to Legia’s third straight Eksrtaklasa championship. After the game was cancelled due to weather, Legia, who needed to defeat Lech Poznan away to secure the championship, was given a 3-0 victory. After Legia made it 2-0 in the 77th minute with a goal, Lech supporters flooded the field, hurled flares, and the game was declared over. As a consequence, Legia finished three points ahead of second-place Jagiellonia Biaystok to win the league.

    2021–till date

The players from Azienkowska won the fifteenth Polish championship on April 28, 2021. This was three rounds before the completion of the 2020–21 Ekstraklasa season. This was courtesy to a scoreless tie between Jagiellonia Biaystok and Raków Czstochowa. As a result, in terms of the total number of domestic championships, Legia has taken the independent lead.

After defeating Slavia Prague on August 26, 2021, Legia earned a spot in a European Cup group stage for the first time in five years. They were paired with Spartak Moscow, Leicester City, and Napoli in their UEFA Europa League group. Legia won its first two games, 1-0 victories against Spartak on the road and Leicester at home. However, they dropped four straight games and finished last in the group.
