    Foundations

Every year, a lot of high school and college coaches begin with Level I fundamental workouts. They just advance through the ranks faster than a young squad. Fundamental exercises are beneficial for players of all ages and ability levels. Even our most skilled players from ONE10 basketball camp benefits from basic skill development using one of our many strategies. Every dribbling exercise may be performed more quickly, accurately, and at a lower height. The majority of outstanding shooters include basic form shooting as a crucial component of their warm-up exercises. Every shooter may also gain from form shooting till every shot is a swish. It is crucial to have a solid base of essential abilities on which to develop as an athlete becomes stronger, quicker, and more competent.

    Repetition

The term “muscle memory” is often used to refer to skill acquisition. It is the capacity to perform certain actions without thinking, gained as a consequence of repeated exposure to that movement.

According to experts, it might take anywhere between 1,000 and 10,000 repetitions for abilities like shooting and dribbling to be permanently remembered in the brain. The brain and nervous system prioritize movements that are done often as being essential. It also works to improve their efficiency and effectiveness for use in future activities.

This practice has to be directed since doing a skill incorrectly may develop muscle memory. Also, it can take three times as many repetitions to break a bad habit. We’ll teach about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

    Game tempo

Athletes must also be able to perform techniques and skills that will be effective in competition as they build a foundation of basic abilities. It is essential for athletes to practice maneuvers against real defenders in controlled game conditions, such as 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, etc., throughout the skill development process. Players will learn here what techniques are effective, how to adjust movements for different opponents. Also which abilities they still need to perfect in order to be a full-fledged offensive threat. We’ll teach more about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

    Not only hoops

    Passion and determination

Learning new things is seldom simple. It might be difficult to develop new habits as well as break old ones. Every great athlete, business tycoon, and parent must understand the importance of pushing yourself above your comfort zone. Persevering when things are challenging is also crucial. We’ll teach more about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

    Work Hard, Get Results

It takes a lot of effort to do thousands of repetitions throughout a week of camp. Athletes will be worn out and typically sore. When athletes push themselves, their performance will significantly increase. Also, they may be proud of what they have accomplished. We’ll teach more about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

    Self-belief

We encourage players to have faith in the abilities they have worked so hard to develop. We encourage sportsmen to employ their abilities while playing games. They gain confidence when a move succeeds. A player eventually becomes so confident in their abilities that it transfers from the court to every aspect of their lives. We’ll teach more about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

    Team spirit

Being able to manage both winning and losing with the same degree of grace is a quality of a great champion. Regardless of an athlete’s ability level, we promote strong competition with respect for all athletes and their labor. We’ll teach more about this at the ONE10 basketball camp.

CO-FOUNDER of the ONE10 basketball camp

    THEODORE TINIUS

“Nothing is more fulfilling than assisting children in developing self-assurance in their skills and talents.”

“Coaching is essentially about using basketball to impart life lessons, in my opinion.”

    Background

My parents raised me on the south side of Tucson, Arizona. They put in a lot of grueling hours to provide us with a roof over our heads and food on the table. For extras, we didn’t have a lot of money left over. My younger brother and I were latchkey kids who developed good street smarts at a young age. Never converse with strangers, avoid taking the same route home at the same time. Also, check to see whether the person picking you up has the secret password if they claim to have been sent by your mother.

Being from Tucson, we were surrounded by University of Arizona basketball. At recess, I initially took up a basketball in an effort to replicate a jump shot that I had just seen local hero Sean Elliot make. I was a mediocre player on school teams in grades 5 through 8. However, I adored basketball. I learned that there are cuts in high school, and because I wasn’t even among the top 12 players from my middle school. I thought it would be challenging to join the squad. My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic from a young age.
Six days a week during the summer before high school, I played basketball. There was even a free program to keep youngsters off the streets at my high school. A variety of activities were available, including an open gym. I started to truly improve my game at this point.

As the lone female in the gym most of the time, I played for hours every day, generally against older guys and men. I was shooting when there weren’t enough players for games. My ability to shoot would turn out to be one of my strongest skills. Leo, a janitor, saw how much time I spent in the gym and introduced me to the high school’s ladies coach. I had already left.

    Playing Career

My efforts have paid off. Even though I made the varsity squad my freshman year, my new objective was to play Division I college basketball. I was unable to participate in club ball or summer camps. Instead, I returned to that gym every summer and worked there. I made the First Team All-Conference my senior year. I spent my two years playing on a full scholarship at Pima CC, where I started each game. Smaller four-year institutions showed some interest in me, but playing Division I basketball had always been my goal. I accepted a new challenge and stepped on to the NAU team because I would not accept anything less. By the winter, I had advanced to the starting 3 guard position from bench warmer with hardly any playing time.

I’ve gotten so much from basketball. I acquired new skills in the areas of goal-setting, perseverance, and discipline. Despite the fact that my family did not have the resources to invest in my basketball training, I was fortunate to have a mother who never lost faith in me. Some children aren’t fortunate enough to have a network of allies.

    Coaching Career

My coaching career has been devoted to supporting the underdog.Every child should have the chance to work hard for their goals, in my opinion. I don’t believe I would have made my high school team my freshman year or even played collegiately without the free gym in the summer. I just needed the opportunity to work hard and establish my abilities. My goal is to provide as many youngsters as I can the opportunity.

The coaches are always kind and adept at the sport of basketball. They teach a range of skills, ensuring that you get the finest instruction possible. We run exercises that concentrate on core abilities while also pushing players to think critically and attempt novel things. We learned how to establish leverage on defense by shoving the offensive player with our backside. Then lifting them up as they spin off for simple layups in transition. Other one-on-one techniques we practiced included a jump stop into an up-and-under layup. Trying something new was enjoyable!

  • About Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation

This article contains detailed information How to Join Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation. You will also find information about The Purpose of Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation, Peace Basketball, Philosophy of Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation and Management of Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation.

After a fruitful 20-year career in the financial services industry, Brian Kriftcher, a longtime member of the Stamford community and the present coach of the boys varsity basketball team at Notre Dame Catholic High School, launched Stamford Peace in 2008.

PEACE Basketball is committed to the idea that “basketball is a privilege”. It serves as a reward for students who consistently work hard and fulfill their primary obligations in the school, the community, and the family.

PEACE Basketball provides a top-notch educational basketball experience that emphasizes the growth of sound fundamentals and excellent competitiveness. As well as creating an atmosphere of excellence among our players and in our overall strategy for the game. A boys’ winter house basketball league, over a dozen elite boys’ and girls’ travel AAU basketball teams. Summer and vacation day basketball camps, an outdoor summer league at Scalzi Park, year-round clinics and open gym activities. And individual training are all included in our PEACE Basketball offerings. The cornerstone of Stamford Peace is made up of cooperation, self-control, leadership, and sportsmanship. The aim of Stamford Peace is to use basketball as a vehicle through which to favorably influence academic attainment, volunteerism, and other life skills throughout Stamford and other lower Fairfield County towns, as opposed to concentrating just on victories and losses.

To that end, we launched our Beyond Limits Academic Program in 2013 with the intention of supporting student-athletes. However, Beyond Limits has significantly grown, and we now support far more non-athlete students than athletes, with a focus that is almost entirely on students from disadvantaged and underserved socioeconomic backgrounds. Through the peer-to-peer model used by Beyond Limits, Stamford Peace heavily subsidizes the tutoring costs that local high school students offer to other local middle school and high school students, mainly in the subjects of math and science. Our Beyond Limits program offers frequent seminars and other enrichment programs in addition to regular tutoring, including subjects like financial literacy, standardized test preparation, college planning, and others. We actively collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators throughout each of these academic activities as crucial shared advocates for our participants.

    Stamford Peace Basketball Youth Foundation

The Stamford Peace Youth Foundation helps young people develop to their greatest potential both on and off the court by providing academic support, top level basketball coaching, training, and competition, and other good influences.

Basketball is a privilege, and the Stamford Peace Youth Foundation, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization established in 2008, is committed to this idea. As such, it actively promotes children’s regular effort and success in their fundamental responsibilities in the classroom, in the community, and at home.

    ACADEMICS BEYOND LIMITS

BEYOND LIMITS GETS TO THE HEART OF THE OPPORTUNITY GAP FACING THE LOWER-INCOME FAMILIES IN OUR SOCIETY.

Established in late 2013 and originally providing help for five children, Beyond Limits currently works with more than 200 students in grades 3 through 12. We now assist non-athletes much more than we do athletes. We charge a significantly subsidized fare to the over 80% of participants whose families qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches. Our biggest achievement has been the extent to which we continue to provide this traditionally disadvantaged demographic group with services that are:

    academic instruction in math and science, usually one-on-one;

    programming for intellectual development (such as computer coding classes, writing workshops, college preparation workshops, time management and organization workshops, and more);

Summertime activities (such as continuous academic tutoring and 1-week middle school and high school orientation academies)

    incoming 6th graders and 9th graders in public schools, as well as students in our new summer math academies);

informal mentorship from peers and professionals, as well as support for schooling.

As vital co-advocates for our children, we actively collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators during our activities.

Our development and accomplishments over the years, which have been measured and assessed based on statistics and testimonies. Demonstrate the recognized worth of our special peer-to-peer academic assistance approach. Of course, we think a lot of it has to do with how well we offer our services. Including how carefully we pair up students with tutors the expertise and experience of our tutors, the cost and flexibility of our tutoring sessions, and other internal aspects. Externally, it is also a result of the enormous demand for accessible academic assistance programs, especially among young people from lower-income families.

    ABOUT JUANA

Juana has been a student at Beyond Limits for two years and is in the seventh grade. She first enrolled in BL to advance her math abilities but she also makes use of the enrichment activities like coding seminars and writing workships. She attributes her success in overcoming her math-related uncertainties and acquiring all the necessary tools to her BL instructors. Take this chance because it will assist you a lot. You learn new things every time you attend, and from personal experience, I definitely suggest it, she advises students who are thinking of joining BL.

    ABOUT MATTHEW

When Matthew was a student and struggling in math, he came to Beyond Limits. As a senior now, he claims that the program has helped him develop, become more self-assured, and do better in several disciplines. Matthew advises those thinking about BL: “You should come. The teachers here are qualified and will give

Every week, Beyond Limits provides support from their personal experiences as well as academic assistance to many children.

    PEACE BASKETBALL

WE ARE ANCHORED BY THE TENET THAT “BASKETBALL IS A PRIVILEGE” ON THE BASKETBALL SIDE.

We stress to our players that the game – and the supporting materials –

Parents, coaches, and other mentors’ “investments” in their achievement are neither a “given” nor a “goal” in and of themselves. Instead, participation in games is a continual reward for our players’ pursuit of success in their primary duties at home, in the community, and in the school. The main motto we employ to motivate student-athletes to adequately prioritize their academics and other life skills is “use basketball, rather than allow basketball to use them.”

Stamford Peace now serves more over 1,200 young people via a range of basketball and direct academic assistance and enrichment programs rising from a single squad of 9–10 year old Stamford boys in 2008. Nearly 100 of our players play basketball while attending college, and many more continue their academic pursuits and participate in extracurricular activities. Many of our past participants are now among the ranks of our coaches. Passing on the teachings they had acquired as a member of Stamford Peace.

    ABOUT EDONA

Edona has played PEACE basketball for her whole life, and the close friendships and mentorship she received through Stamford Peace continue to make a significant difference in her life. Edona’s inspiring journey from a timid young child who spoke English hesitantly to a Division 1 college basketball player at Fordham University. While also overcoming a number of serious knee injuries, speaks volumes about the growth of her passion, grit, and character as a member of the PEACE family.

    ABOUT SLYWIA

Sylwia plays basketball for the PEACE AAU and SPBBL teams in addition to being a frequent participant in our Beyond Limits Academic Program. Sylwia’s dedication to student-athletic achievement is clearly seen in her happiness and thankfulness as a twice-weekly beneficiary of Beyond Limits academic tutoring in math and science. Sylwia has a special quality known as being “coachable.” Her recent advancements in both academics and basketball are a result of her hard effort. As well as the influence of opportunity and investment.

    Philosophy

The SPBBL is made to offer a satisfying sporting experience. The main goal is to give each participant the chance to seek the psychological and physical benefits of basketball via recreational play. All gamers should have the chance to learn new talents, meet new people, and enjoy themselves.

The SPBBL’s regulations and standards have to be followed, along with excellent sportsmanship and decent behaviour. Sports activities naturally involve competition, although winning is not the main objective. We desire fair play and mutual respect among all of our athletes, coaches, and spectators. Celebrate one’s successes rather than their flaws. Win graciously and lose honorably. Always encourage people to put out their best effort.

    Questions and Answers

    A SKILL ASSESSMENT IS WHAT?

Your child’s team is determined in part by the skill evaluation. Teams are not created based on your residence or your child’s school. Teams become formed using a variety of factors. A terrific three-point shooter from each of the seven teams should not be on the same squad. There are coed divisions at Little Dribbler. The only grade with a true division is second grade Little Dribblers. No prior basketball experience is necessary to join any recreational basketball team; all other divisions in IYB are mixed grade levels (e.g., K/1; 3/4; 5/6; 7/8; 9-12). No of their level of expertise or experience, everyone is welcome.

The objective of the recreational skill evaluation is to balance the talent on each team by combining participants with different skill levels—skilled, intermediate, and low to no competence. Additionally, efforts are made to balance the student’s grade and height. A mix of genders may also be a consideration in the coed categories of the Little Dribbler, depending on enrollment.

WHEN WE ARRIVE AT THE SKILL ASSESSMENT, WHAT DO WE DO?

Boys and girls will participate in separate programs tailored to their individual basketball and fitness levels.

Experience has shown us that there is more to player development than just dribbling the ball around some chairs or running some shooting drills.

As a result, our one-of-a-kind program is geared toward improving athletes’ total performance.

Players are taught a variety of training methods in order to boost their skills, instill self-assurance in them, and provide preventative measures for enduring longer games.

    More Information

The goals of each customer are individually tailored during the Player Development process.

Based on our first-hand expertise training players with a strong drive to succeed and perform at a high level.

In order to ensure that objectives are set and met, our staff will devise a tailored Player Development routine.

A training session can last anywhere from 45 to 120 minutes, but we encourage that anyone interested in participating in the program sign up for at least four sessions to give themselves the time they’ll need to fully grasp the material and make significant progress in their game.

Our curriculum emphasizes a wide variety of skills, including shooting mechanics (off the catch and off the dribble), a jab step series, dribble separation, weak hand development and finishing. Also, it includes advanced dribble scoring methods, moving without the ball, post and perimeter work, triple threat separation and footwork.
